Well, we had our time in the spotlight, but now it’s come and gone. Hopefully all of you enjoyed yourselves this past weekend, thanks go to everyone who were able to attend (especially Garu and Chelsea), and even to the people who woke up early to catch that 10am morning stream of the top 8 on Sunday. If you haven’t done so already check out the official results thread to drop some shout outs, show some love, and check out some pictures of the event.

Road to Evo 2 results and Evo Schedule!

First, let’s get the results of Road to Evolution 2 out of the way. Here are your top three players for Melty Blood: Actress Again:

If you’re going just for Melty Blood: Actress Again, all pools and semi-final matches will take place from 5pm until Midnight of Friday, so make sure to stick around during those times!

Do not forget to hurry up and register for Evolution if you have not done so yet; you only have until July 5th to do so!

Weekend Viewing: Road to Evo 2 and American Devastation

This weekend there are two events going on: Road to Evolution 2 and American Devastation. Road to Evolution 2 is an event in NYC where the big ticket is literally a ticket to Las Vegas and entry into Evolution, with the event hosting Melty Blood: Actress Again (no ticket for the MB:AA winner though — that’s for Super Street Fighter 4). MB:AA is being played on Sunday (with talk of a player-organized team tournament Saturday night). American Devastation is an invite-only event being run by forum moderator bellreisa somewhere in Southern California with casuals and tournaments running all weekend. They are streaming right now as I type this, in fact.

Streaming for Road to Evolution 2 to be handled by Team Sp00ky and streaming for American Devastation to be handled both by mizuumi.net and robo-moe.

In what hopefully will turn into a weekly tournament series in New York City, Mike G, Booty Clappa, and Team Sp00ky present GUARD CRUSH!!!. The first tournament takes place today, with further events scheduled to occur every Wednesday.

Team Sp00ky will be providing live streaming for all of the games featured at this event, which include Melty Blood: Actress Again.stream for coverage of each of the games – ustream.tv/channel/teamspooky !

We’ve also got Road to Evo 2, New York city’s first actual major going on this weekend! If you’re in the area head on over to the tournament (or at least the thread for more information), it’ll be crazy!

Weekend Viewing: East Coast Throwdown 2

Just as a reminder, East Coast Throwdown 2 is occurring this weekend, featuring some of the east coasts top players in Melty Blood. The top eight are scheduled to occur from 2:45 PM to 3:30 PM EDT, and the tournament is being streamed via FADC. There may also be some side streaming, and this post will be updated if that is indeed the case.

MB:AA:CC to appear at SBO 2010

It looks like that the Tougeki commission have gotten enough static about Melty Blood: Actress Again was not at Tougeki this year and has decided to add it as a category C game (along with KoFXIII).

Now I shall begin the ritual of bugging fubarduck for a qualifier at Arcade UFO as I line up to kick the football again (dammit, Lucy). There is also an English page on the Tougeki website confirming this now. More updates as news warrants.

The Road to Evolution

It’s nice to have a definitive tournament that you can point people to. If you plan to travel to one Melty Blood tournament this year, this really should be it.

A few helpful links to get you on your way:

Registration is now open for the event; you must pre-register in advance to be eligible to play in the main event. Register by April 30th to receive a early bird discount.

Discount hotel rooms at Caeser’s Palace are available; they tend to come and go pretty quickly. If you are looking for people to room with, our Evolution 2010 discussion thread includes people with rooms looking for roommates.

Some forum posters also have general advice for people who have not been out to Evolution, or any fighting game tournament this large. Protip: Las Vegas’ weather does not mess around in the summer. Playing with heat stroke is never fun.

If you fancy yourself a TOP PLAYER and think you warrant getting seeded in the brackets, you can be like everyone else and earn it. The top two finishers in the Melty Blood: Actress Again tournaments at Midwest Championships and East Coast Throwdown will qualify as seeds for Evolution 2010 (this applies for any Evolution game, actually).

If you are looking for ways to improve your game, our forum has a lot of resources. Some 0f these things include character strategies, recorded matches from top Melty Blood players in Japan and the US, matchmaking forums, and tournament listings. The only things we are missing is a teleporter and some way to have enough money so you can just play Melty Blood eight hours a day.
