F/HA question
« on: April 16, 2009, 06:21:22 PM »
F/HA runs on TVP Kirikiri...anyone know how I can edit the text on there to make an actual English translation for the game? I've got most of the translation complete and just need to actually get some way to edit the format

edit: I normally would wait for the guys at Beast's Lair to finish this, but they said they would start on it sometime in 2007. No new news from them in forever, and I finished translating about 25% in 2 months...why wait?

Sorry I don't know anything about that, but you would make me mad happy if you released that translation sometime soon  :fap:.

Translating isn't all that hard, just a bit time consuming. I don't know about the text editing and so forth, hopefully that doesn't take long, then I can get a translation out soon...or at least a translation patch with XX% translated.

I have cleared 100% of the main story, however the side games: "Ilya's Castle", "The Tiger Playing Card Travel Diary", and "The Tohsaka Shrine", I don't have those completed 100% yet, so I haven't bothered trying to translate those.

Try asking the mirror moon guys -- F/sn, if memory serves, also runs on TVP Kirikiri, and since they released a full translation of F/sn, they obviously know how to work with it. You may have better luck with them than with the guys from Beast's Lair.

Yeah, F/SN runs on kirikiri. Thing is I did send a couple messages to those guys, no response, and nobody knows anything on Beast's Lair about what's going on with akumau's translation anymore, so I was just hoping someone here would have an idea.

thanks for the link. I thought he stopped working on it since I've not heard anything about progress updates or anything from Amukunau (misspelled the name on the above post). Actually, however, even on Amukunau's blog, there is no actual progress percentile...I've e-mailed to see if he's (she?) interested in collaborating on this project, but if you are looking for a progress update from me, if I rate each scene as equal (which they obviously aren't), then I would be about...22% done with translation.

I don't know if Amukunau will accept, translators working together tend to conflict with each other on kanji definition, especially so with Nasu's moonspeak...one of the reasons why Mirror-Moon only has Takajun as translator for the Type-Moon games.

I will continue looking for a Kirikiri editor program just in case. At the very least, I would want to release the intro so people know that I am working on this project.

I would wait for mirror moon forums to come back online, and then see if you can get one of the devs who worked on fsn to join your project. Don't just email the guys, who knows when they would respond to that ( if they even read their email anymore ) actually join their forums and start a thread for it.

Also, if you decide you still want to go through with this, I'd recommend getting a couple of QA testers ( Preferably people who know the difference between testing and playing games is, have a legit copy of the game, and are willing to do multiple runthrough's ) once you are about 70% done or so. It will lighten the workload on yourself and whatever dev you get to help you insert the text by a large margin.

Good luck  :slowpoke:
