@Grandlord: You can use it as a clocker runner, but the only time its commonly recommended is vs Hakumen or Tager.
Why only those two? Most characters only have one or 2 moves that can truly punish a chicken FRKZ, but thats what barrier block is for. (Yes it works during FRKZ. honestly, im shocked you didn't already know about that when you know all these combos and such.)
Its not like you need to tank blockstrings during FRKZ, your just nullifying a few air attacks here and there. Barrier can handle that easily, even with limited bar.
You are also using Dora, pretty much accepted as the best Bang player, as your example, yet Dora uses it offensively far more than he does for end match running. He'll often pop FRKZ as soon as possible (you can't start a match with it anyways since it requires the 4 seals and 50% meter) regardless of the situation.
Ya, because hes dora, and hes good enough to use it offensively the whole time. He clearly demonstrates that he can chicken through the timer though. Imagine how easily it would have been to do that if he hadnt burst eariler, giving him the ability to barrier block.
Plus, he was fighting Dio, to my knowledge, the best carl player. Why on earth would you want to chicken through a match against someone like him? When your on a level as high as Dora, challenging opponents like that are what keeps the game fun in the firstplace. He chickened once to prove he could, and then went back to actually playing the game. (though IMO, running the clock is a perfectly acceptable strategy. A win is a win. People fighitng against bang have to make sure there in the lead when his meter hits 50 and he gets his icons. Its just part of fighting him, its not un-counterable, the counter is just keeping him from doing it in the first place.)
On the topic of using FRKZ, it depends on the matchup and situation. If you're playing someone slower like Hakumen or Tager, it can be a definite advantage. I've also used it for things such as popping it when Rachel throws out a lightning rod ball, dashing through it and punishing for the match. I also have had a "be like Dora" moment where I have used the invincibility on activation to counter (I've followed up immediately with bang's dash super to punish a Hakumen 2b, as in he threw out 2b, then I FRKZ and supered before it recovered, the damage buff giving me the win).
Yes, FRKZ is a great offensive tool/utility tool if used properly, not denying that. I'm just sayin that it can easily be used to run the timer against half the roster. Tager and Hakumen are obvious. Ragnas only real way to catch FRKZ is inferno divider and gauntlet Hades in midair, and thats what barrier is for. Carl is easy to chicken, as Dora so gracefully demonstrated. I dont see why another non-FRKZ bang wouldn't be chickenable either, since to my knowledge, bang has no uppercut-ish move. Bumpers might let him catch another FRKZ though, dunno. Litchi would probably be the hardest character to chicken that actually IS chickenable, do to her good anti-airs and space control. If you get enough of a lead and have barrier, then you can probably run the clock with FRKZ against her, but other then that it probably wont work.
The rest of the cast has solid counters for clock-running FRKZ bangs. However, thats still 6 characters that can be chickened by a skilled bang. (half the roster)
I guess the point im making is that even for non-godtier bang players, FRKZ has its uses, if only to win via timeout.
Of course, again, im not a bang player, so im probably just talking out my ass.
Il stfu now and let the real bang players theorize while i continue to search for a counter against V13 so i can finally stop getting my Tager/Ragna babel-owned.
