Bara Cancel: should i be ashamed?
« on: August 11, 2007, 11:05:36 PM »
i swear for the life of me, i cannot learn how to bara cancel, ive tried using the various training methods mentioned in the bara cancel topic, however im lucky to even get a shield bunker out. ive been practicing my ass off and quite frankly my thumbnail feels terrible. its been a week and roughly 10-12 hours of practice overall, is this normal or terrible?

As far as I can tell, baras only work if you're in a specific portion of block stun oh which I cannot remember what everyone decided to dub it.  Anyways, I was having the same problem until my friend told me that I have to do it while actually blocking.  Set the training CPU to attack, preferably an attack that hits twice or more.  Block the first hit and execute the bara as if you were cancelling off of the CPU's second hit.

It is best to practice with Nero's crouching B. Also, make sure you have at LEAST 150% Magic Circuit when attempting it, and you must (edit) press the buttons within 8 frames of completing the motion.

it's a lot easier to learn with a buddy from my experience

why make sure you have 150% or more?  you can do it with 100% right?

You need 50% for the shield bunker and then 100% for the super which comes out to 150%.

i swear for the life of me, i cannot learn how to roll cancel, ive tried using the various training methods mentioned in the roll cancel topic, however im lucky to even get a RC out. ive been practicing my ass off and quite frankly my thumbnail feels terrible. its been a week and roughly 10-12 hours of practice overall, is this normal or terrible?

;_;

That's how I felt about RC'ing in CvS2, until I finally got it a couple days ago. It takes practice like everything else.

I thought if you were successful with the cancel, then the 50% doesn't get used? ??? Or is it one of those changes for version B?

This was actually a Ver B2 change I believe, or maybe even B.  They also made shield bunker cancels less useless/less beatable in general, so for many characters, the shield bunker is probably better than any bara they could do, and since the frame buffer is now 8 frames instead of 12, it's even less practical to use any bara except for 214, or 421 moves.

I think only Kouma really gains a lot by learning how to bara well.  If you're using any other character, step up the rest of your game so that you get to the point where knowing how to bara DOES matter.

You only need 50%.  Stop spreading lies about this 150%.  It's like saying you need to be in heat/max to do bunker cancels because thats the only time you can do arc drives.

Well from what I understand, you need 50% to do the successful bunker cancel, and 100% if you decide to cancel it into an EX.

well its starting to come out more often now. but it feels like i lack the precision required to pull it off comfortably.

i was practicing with nanaya vs nero and set the cpu to use his standing C attack with the aligator.

im assuming that if i was able to use my arc drive while he was still in the middle of hitting me that i was able to do a successful bara cancel.

i think im starting to get the pattern, but it'd be helpful for someone like me to see some visual aid like a video with someone showing you how to use it on a pad or stick. (sounds redundant, but im the kind of person who learns better that way.)

as of right now im just trying out 2141236+D~C

You also need heat/max mode if you decide to cancel into an arc drive.  Bara canceling only needs 50% meter.  "If you decide to cancel it into an EX", if being the key word.  You don't need to bara an ex.

I learned by practicing against one of warakia's attacks, but I forget which one.  Whatever works for you.

And yes, if you did an arc drive while he was hitting you(blocked) then you did it.

no it doesn't. if youre in max/heat/b.heat all bunkers and shielding is free of charge as long as the meter is still running. btw you should be doing your r.arc bara-cancel on leo everytime he does the low C on you.

which one?  qcf might whiff, qcb might be too slow (but i guess it can still push him back if he blocks), and there is no way in hell i can execute dp fast enough for bara

I'll show you the methods of how i learned how to Bara Cancel

1: Choose a character with a qcb move.
2: Go against a character with a multi Hit move. (lex: Hisui's Charge C or Waracha's Netural C)
3: Get used to Block countering. (just use qcb+d)
4: learn to "Piano Tap" D then C in succession.
5: Do a block counter but "piano tap" D then B. (QCB+C-D)

There ya go. Bara Cancel ;D

Edit: Learmed = Learned xD
