By character orientation, I meant when your character on-screen is facing right as player 1 and vice versa.

This thought came to me recently when I re-watched a couple of my own replays. I have the tendency to go to the left of my opponent whenever possible as I'm more familiar with inputting my buttons and directions from there. I mess up a little more when I do button inputs from the opposite end. This might be a potential weakness that future opponents can exploit, I don't know.  :mystery:

Are you more familiar and better as player 1 or player 2, or do you have no problems with regards to your character orientation at all?

Probably a bit more comfortable on the P1 side, but nowadays I don't even think about it anymore.

You could always start playing 360 characters!

Mm, which side I'm on doesn't matter for me.  F Miyako requires mad shoryus in both directions no matter which side you're on.  I do find that sometimes I have trouble doing IAD motion to the left though.

i always had trouble inputting 41236 on a keyboard if i wasnt on P2 orientation. Playing on a control stick fixed that. Big time.

Now i have trouble with 22 motions instead.  :emo:

S'why i quit playing ragna and mained Tager 100%.  XD

It's like MT said. Its all about the 360 characters.  >:D

I find IAD'ing easier on the P2 side in melty.

Back in MBAC (when I was a pad user) I used to super jump over my opponent and get on the P2 side before the round started so I'd fuck up less.  Also buffering moves into a backdash in guilty gear? Yeah, that was pretty side dependant.

I still find IAD'ing easier on P2 side on the stick, but it's not as big a deal.

I find that I work about the same in combos working both ways. However, I have an easier time doing 42136 when facing right (and obviously the reverse). The fact that I'm using keyboard is probably what's causing it.

I also tend to mess up directional inputs by trying to do them too fast.

when it comes to pulling off 236 motions...the left side works best for me...

As an enemy, I always go from the right and make my assault to anything on the left...

input 41236 in a keyboard for me was a hell at start, thats just why i dint play more than 5 times in a keyboard, after that i buy the pad, now i think i dont care about the side im at ^^

I'm more used to P2.

When I used to play Pad on mbac, I could only do VAkiha's momiji loop on the left side  :psyduck:

doesn't matter, I win just as well from either side.

Well...I guess it depends. If I'm using a pad, it doesn't matter at all. If I'm using a stick, I can't do shit if I'm on the left side...however, I always pick player 1 for left side gaming regardless.  :slowpoke:

In a keyboard, it's the same for me, but it's a pain to do half-circle movements in a pad.

I make sure to grind combos both ways to eliminate side dependency.  It's usually not too big of an issue though, it's just weird trying to run a string the opposite way the first few times.
