Continuing in the Japanese tradition of difficult Mario games...
« on: December 29, 2007, 01:03:38 PM »
Everyone loves Super Mario Bros and Super Mario World, right? What about when the difficulty is cranked up to extreme degrees? Is it fun then? Maybe not so much. Is it funny to watch? Yes it is.

So, after a long chain of SMB and SMW ROM hacks, someone over on the other side of the Pacific decided to make a game based on SMB. One catch: Nothing is how it should be. Powerups hurt you (usually), pretty much all pipes are unfriendly, invisible coin blocks are scattered about, parts of the stage will fall out from under you or on top of you, and just because you hit the flagpole doesn't mean you've beaten the level. This is Syobon Action.
Featuring music from Cheetahmen II and Spelunker.

Some Youtube vids of each level:
Level 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hIXRgppi04M
Level 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nHx2vM4a-K4
Level 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=733wle0LQtI
Level 4: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ALmRIfrmNFc

(And a vid of me playing the entire game and only dying twice on the final level: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=25ppxl9eNEw )

To be fair, the game isn't TOO difficult once you've seen what all the retarded traps are. However, if you don't... well, good luck.
Running H-Kohaku, and I don't want to stop.

I played Kaizo Mario World and I didn't get further than the 3rd level. It's impossible for normal humans.

The game's sick. And I almost fell off the chair when I reached the bonus area on the 3rd level.

When you notice it, you're already playing no Mario Game, but an awesome puzzle game.

Not impossible, just very unlikely.

By the way, Are Melty Blood and Melty Bread different games?
