Anybody play this? I was able to play it recently in Japan and was pretty stoked on it. Seems to be pretty popular there as I was able to find more cabs for this than any Capcom games.
TGS Preview vid from 2006 (mostly a trailer but has a few clips of gameplay mixed in)

Plays similarly to Virtual On if any of you ever played that, except its got typical arcade style controls.

Gundam games are notoriously difficult (and risky) for American arcade operators to get because of the popularity in Japan. Therefore there's like, no used cabinets and the new ones are ass-expensive, and there's no guarantee that it'll do well once it actually arrives overseas.

I figured there must be a reason they haven't been imported, but I thought maybe someone might have it on ps2.
Considering how popular they are, is there a reason it doesn't get a spot in SBO? There were tons of people playing and it seemed there was indeed some depth to the game.

I've played the home versions, though I know the arcade ones are certainly better. All I really know competition0wise is Launcher Strike and Strike Noir are banned due to broken moves.

I've only been able to play the Gundam Seed one at AI once. Before that, I played the old Gundam DX. I haven't been to AI lately, so I'm not sure if they've gotten the Destiny one yet, as I've seen quite a few people play the older Seed one.
I think I'd like to credit myself as being a pretty good Guntanker from DX. Me and a friend were the only ones to 1CC the entire game on the Zeon side using a Gundam and a Guntank (and that's not an easy feat - those two are pretty damn expensive when they die), and I can consistently 1CC it with the Guntank. I was ALMOST able to 1CC Seed using Strike Freedom. :psyduck:
EDIT: Okay, I lol'ed hard at Lacus' Zaku in the vid. It did absolutely nothing but dance like a moron. :prinny:

I got this game on the PS2 last year and it was very difficult *points at Strike Freedom Meteor on Shinn's Story Mode*. I haven't played that game for a long time...>.>

Would be cool if a socal head could bring it to WTX :toot: ;D :V

It'll be also better if your folks at your place can play this game. ;)

I don't remember if it was the plus version or not, but I played it summer '07 once while I was in Akihabara. Got both my teammate and myself killed almost immediately, game over lol. It looked interesting enough, but trying to learn a new game in an arcade as competitive as that one would have been fatal for my budget.

The PS2 versions have serious slowdown issues. I'd rather play the arcade ones.

Yes, that irritated me a lot on slowdowns so I stopped playing it again -.-

I had a bit of fun with this game for a while, playing with a buddy doing 2 vs comp and doing 1v1. Of course, the game's made for 2vs2 with human players, but hey, its PS2. I'm eagerly anticipating Gundam vs. Gundam, though I'm sure I won't get a chance to play that until long after its been in arcade.
