Depending on your PS2, you can do different things to it. If it is an older phat PS2, I highly recommend just getting a flip-top for it.

For a slim PS2, you could buy a flip-top (http://www.ps2cover.com/pstwofliplidswapmagic.shtml) or you could just take the external casing off and tape down the switches on it. There are 2 switches that must be depressed for the system to think there is a cover on it, one where the power button is and one in the back of the system near the cooling unit for the system. If you don't know what you are doing, a flip-top is recommended, although it's not too hard to find the two switches. Tape/gum works great for this...don't get it on anything else though.

At the very least, you will need the disc. You may or may not need the case modding, that is up to you. The cheapest I would look for a swap disc would be Ebay. You can find them as low as $5 if you are lucky. You want to be looking for Swap Magic 3.6 as it is the newest version out and works quite well. As long as you find the right version (DVD Swap Magic 3.6) you will be fine at various web sites. Make sure it is the DVD version you are getting if you are getting one or the other. There is also a CD Swap Magic that will region free your system for CD games. Most PS2 games (including MBAA/MBAC) are DVD formatted and the CD Swap Magic will NOT work for these.
