How do I get nicovideo to work?

may seem like a dumb question but any of the vids I follow that link to nico don't load up any videos for me, just a page with a few options on it and a thumbnail of the video. Anybody care to help a noob out?

It's asking for you to log in. This is quite a reasonable question, so don't worry. It's not like many of us can read Japanese.

Create your account, and when someone links you a video and you're not signed in, click the big orange button above the thumbnail on the left. You'll be prompted to log in, and will be able to watch the video.
