: Kara No Kyoukai!
: llama_egg May 19, 2008, 02:58:42 PM
Why is there no thread on this! WHY? I demand more threadness considering the first volume of 7 was release today (2 days early <3)! I can't be the only Type-Moon fan that was waiting impatiently for this to come out due to the incredible hardcoreness of it, though I have a feeling I'm probably the only one who dished out the cold hard cash to pre-order the limited edition...

For those of you not Type-moon inclined, Kara no Kyoukai was Type-moon's doujin novel way back in the day, think of it as a prototype for nasuverse/Tsukihime (and so, eventually coming to your beloved Melty Blood). In general, think of Tsukihime, with the story changed a bit, and the main hero is now a heroine.

God I wish I could be in Japan right now...stupid stores giving away promotion stuff with the movie...free Häagen-Dazs/bottles water along with phonestraps, bookmarks and other misc stuff... *cries*

I thought about it, but in the end couldn't justify the cost even though I enjoyed the novels. I'm hoping a cheaper pack will come out once the entire series is released.

I know, was released two days early, I was totally psyched when I saw an email saying it was shipped yesterday! Not to sure why the change of the date, but well, not complaining, might hopefully receive it by Friday so...  :fap:
*cough edit cough* Apparently I lied, it shipped yesterday, and it's already in Vancouver...that's only a day's drive...highly likely I might receive it in a day or two <3

I thought about it, but in the end couldn't justify the cost even though I enjoyed the novels. I'm hoping a cheaper pack will come out once the entire series is released.

I ordered the Comp-Ace Type-Moon magazine, it set me back roughly $40 with shipping, after that, it's not to hard to talk one self into dishing out $80 for the limited edition of the first volume (or second and third version for that matter...). Now what really hurts is when one turns to think that ordering this whole series is gonna set one back $570 for the whole series.

As for a box set, I'm sure there will be one, but you will be waiting a while, the next two volumes are being released a month apart from each other, and god knows how long for the other 4 (I don't believe the 4th has even hit theaters yet). Personally, because I'm obsessed over Type-moon, I couldn't pass up all the extra's the limited editions are passing out, especially since I'm getting the shaft for the theater and in store extras. I mean seriously, I'm still trying to hunt down the phonestrap they where giving out during volume one's theater release, but to no luck I'm afraid.

Now if they would just pump out a release date for the Tsukihime remake, and after that the long awaited sequel! Ok, I can dream can't I?

I'd rather see a Tsukihime 2 rather than a remake of Tsukihime, but at least the remake brings tidings of a Sacchin route.  And yeah, the fourth will be hitting theaters soonish, but it's not quite out yet.  I'll have to save up for later on and buy it as a box set, as I don't have the funds to go buying them as they release right now.  =<

Heh, this is awesome. The DVD trailer made me, like, high. I'm waiting for the Box Set, too and order it. Though, of course I get a RAW for the sake of epic pictures in my forum signatures in the interwebz.
: Re: Kara No Kyoukai!
: llama_egg May 20, 2008, 03:47:16 PM
So to my disappointment, my copy won't arrive till tomorrow. As for a raw, I personally might be getting on that if no one else does, as I know quite a few people looking lost as it's not out yet (either that or it's hidden on some Chinese site...).

And yes, I would much prefer to see a sequel to Tsukihime, but saying that, I'll take what I can get. Plus, with the release of KnK, Tsukihime remake and Witch on the Holy Night, one can only hope now that they have begun pumping out attention towards Tsukihime instead of Fate, we might finally see a sequel announced in a year. Or at least it's what alot of Type-moon fans such as myself am hoping for.

Oh, and I'm about to spoil the whole Sacchin route for everyone, in the end...she dies.  :psyduck:

If you want I can take pictures of the concept art/renders of Aoko, Alice and Soujyuro that they show in the Comp-ace Type-moon magazine once I get my new camera...

And I swear to god, I shall be more then displeased if my order doesn't arrive by tomorrow. Shouldn't take that long to get through customs, seesh.

: Re: Kara No Kyoukai!
: llama_egg May 21, 2008, 07:36:43 PM
Heh, I didn't think it was possible, but it exceeded my expectations. Wish I could have seen this in the theater's for sure, though wish it was longer. And seriously, the actual fight scene was down right gorgeous, I seriously want to see the jump across the two buildings multiple times.

No doubt about it, was easily worth the $80 to get volume 1.

Now, on a different note, volume 2 is going to make me cry, after watching the next episode portion, it's only part one of the episode. Meaning, we need to wait for the third volume. Ugh.

Also, I'm pretty sure their is a high quality version of the trailer, though I might be going crazy.  :psyduck:

Yeah, I was rather impressed as well.  There was a lot of little details that really portray the characters well and even something as simple as the color choices in each of the scenes was really nicely done.  I felt that the pacing was a little quick, but that's to be expected when cramming the whole prologue into a single hour's worth of time.  It just seemed that Mikiya's soul theft was rather sudden and very subtly noted.  But that'd be my only complaint on the entire thing.  The representation of Shiki's high level mystic eyes of death perception is really dope, as well as the death lines that she was seeing while fighting Kirie's ghosts.  And yeah, that entire fight scene as a whole was so beautifully coreographed and animated.

Also, I heard that the next two DVD releases are supposedly going to be hitting shelves rather quickly, so hopefully we won't have to wait long in between parts 2 and 3.  I can't wait to see more!

I'd mention that I wrote a review complete with about 20 screenshots, but I doubt anyone here will need it since I'm sure most of us have already seen it by now.  =>

Fairly quickly, but not quick enough. The current set dates are 2008/06/25 for volume two, and 2008/07/23 for volume three. So while it's only a month wait between the each of the three volumes, it's still way to long for me.

I told yeah it was something to look forward to. It's down right amazing, and to boot I've been arguing with someone elsewhere that's saying that the animation is low quality and the artists where cheaping out. I'm serious that they are standing by that.

There are some things that scream out bad (or at least sub-par) animation, like when Shiki was opening the water bottle cap early in the movie.  That made me wtf cuz her hand just started to kind of spaz out.  lol.  Some parts had godly animation though, like the rooftop fight scene.

On another note, is anyone else re-reading KnK again as a refresher to seeing all the movies?

Uh, Baka-Tsuki (http://www.baka-tsuki.net/project/index.php?title=Kara_no_Kyoukai) has more than just the first 3 chapters.  They have it translated up to a quarter of the way through ch.5.  You might want to hit them up for that, if you haven't read up that far yet.

I just re-read all of the translated bit (it's been a while since I've read it, so I wanted a refresher) and man...I really wish the rest would get translated.  *sigh*  It's too good to be neglected like that.  Anyway, hopefully the movies will spurn some more interest from potential translators, since there's a surprising amount of hype around them.

: Re: Kara No Kyoukai!
: LoliSauce May 28, 2008, 01:52:48 PM
I don't disagree that it's great, but you guys are acting like it's some kind of perfect incarnation of KnK or something.  In all honesty, it left out some important things and there were awkward moments in the animation.  That doesn't make it bad, but it sure does keep it from being one of the best, I'd say.
: Re: Kara No Kyoukai!
: abitofBaileys May 28, 2008, 02:18:37 PM
Yeah, after seeing it for the 5th time now, I agree on some things, but that doesn't make it bad or doesn't change the fact it's awesome and it's like a christmas present when you're are a little child.

You know what's funny, since the movie volumes go in direct order of the books, the second part to volume 2 won't be until like volume 7, IIRC.  All the peoples are gonna be like RAAAAAGE WHAR BE MAH PART TWO and I'll just be lolling.

My bad, I forgot that you mentioned it completely.   :slowpoke:  And I think that the cliffhanger at the end of part 2 is pretty big business, personally.  Not getting a clear representation between that and the event that sent Shiki into the coma for two years.

: Re: Kara No Kyoukai!
: LoliSauce June 26, 2008, 12:22:02 AM
After finally watching it, I must say that I feel this movie was weaker than the first.  Not that the animation was any less stellar or anything, but this episode's internal monologues were a lot more important to the story of this chapter.  It felt lacking as a result, while unimportant scenes were kind of doted on just to show off their animation skills (shiki fencing, kokuto running).  Them embellishing those scenes so much took weight away from the much more important scenes afterward.  Also, they completely killed the suspense with what happened near the end.  By next chapter, everyone will already understand what happened at the end of ch.2, without even needing to watch the other half.

*sigh*  Okay, enough with my nitpicking.  There were a lot of little things that I didn't really find to my liking in that chapter, but it was still cool to see what they did manage to do with it without the internal monologue.  I'm still going to be mad hyped over chapter 3, since Fujino's arc is by far my favorite so far and the preview for it looked DOPE.

As I stated before, only the novels have been licensed, or seems to be. So your still out of luck, but not that I care, if it does get licensed, the US limited editions will suck. Horribly. And they will laugh at you.

Just one thing annoyed me a bit. For some reason, while on VLC they play fine, in Media Player Classic the translation of the titles (movie title, episode title and so on and so forth) in TakaJun's sub of the second movie appear HUGE and off-center, to they point that they're literally unreadable. mmm..nope did u patch it to v2? Maybe if you're lucky, one of the subber's will make an AVI version and will solve your problems.
: Re: Kara No Kyoukai!
: noradseven June 26, 2008, 09:14:03 PM
Just one thing annoyed me a bit. For some reason, while on VLC they play fine, in Media Player Classic the translation of the titles (movie title, episode title and so on and so forth) in TakaJun's sub of the second movie appear HUGE and off-center, to they point that they're literally unreadable. Did anyone get this too?

Is this on a linux computer? This didn't happen to me, on linux.
for windows use cccp codex pack http://cccp-project.net/
for mac use quicktime 7.3.1, or 7.4.5 NOT 7.5 and get the perian mod http://perian.org/  for some reason 7.5 makes my computer lag up a shitstorm on .mkv, and on 7.4.5 some .mpeg have the same prob but its compatable with itunes.

K-Lite codec pack Full is arguably the best codec pack out there.  I read on a comparison between it and cccp, and K-Lite turned out to be more extensive.

DZ, I didn't have any problems with anything being sized weirdly or unreadable in MPC.  I watch .mkv's exclusively in MPC too, since .mkv subs in VLC often have timing/spacing problems (mainly when multiple people talk at once, making the text overlap each other).  MPC also happens to cut down on the choppiness of the KnK movies.  I dunno if the raws are just encoded poorly or if gg just sucks at encoding, but I've never had a .mkv file play so choppy and laggy on VLC as their KnK subs do.

Have you updated yours to the 2008-01-24 version?
: Re: Kara No Kyoukai!
: Animeruko June 27, 2008, 07:38:00 AM

Ill definately have to agree that Klite is prettymuch the best one out there.  its been looked down uppon becuse it uses many different decoders but lately theve been doing most of the decoding with ffdshow so its really good now. (not that i ever had problems with it befor O_o)  CCCP is nice too but Klite is updated more frequently and allways has the latest builds in the new release.

Its the only codec pack i use and i primarily only watch MKV's, ive had no issues.
: Re: Kara No Kyoukai!
: Sh1k1 June 27, 2008, 09:28:13 AM
Never mind, fixed it with the K-Lite codec manager tool. I've been using the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack for years, checking for updates regularly every two months or so, so I know it's the best codec pack out there.

For some reason, the K-Lite Mega doesn't work as good for me as the K-Lite Full.  O.o?  I'm not competent enough to go in and fiddle around with the settings though, so my shit is usually just set to default (if that makes any difference).
: Re: Kara No Kyoukai!
: noradseven June 27, 2008, 11:31:23 AM
Damn never heard of k-lite package, I guess its rarly I only use windows for anything but games.
Personally I use Kplayer on linux, its the KDE version of MPlayer, but I have Mplayer as well, VLC hates Mkv on my compy, no matter if its windows, linux, or mac, it laggs like all get out and messes up all the subbing its annoying.
Im surprised nobody is shocked that quicktime+perian plays .mkv better than Mplayer on mac, well time to add  the k-lite codex pack to my compy on windows side for the rare times I do watch videos.
: Re: Kara No Kyoukai!
: YuenSan June 27, 2008, 12:37:33 PM
If I didn't make AMVs, I would've used one of the KLite series, but CCCP works fine for me.

So I caught up on the ep2, I like the animation and sound quality. Question on the ED theme though...is it only kalafina singing there, or is it 2 different people. The first half was noticeably deeper, so I wasn't sure. And if it's 2, there just needs to be a chorus part on the end where they go together XD

LOL.

I dunno im rather fond of the anime myself so i dont really get why people dont like it.  It really was a great series even if it didnt follow the game.  Anime shouldnt have to follow the original story(Manga/VN/ect) i think its even more intresting when they have their own story arc, so its not like your just watching the same story again.  I think this is actually the reason many stories are changed when they are turned into anime form, for some reason people think it wactually HAS to follow the original.  :-\

If it would of been the Sacchin Arc I think I would of liked it better cause, we haven't seen that "YET" .  Plus while the Tsuki anime wasn't terrible it wasn't really good it would be about a 6.5 in my book, and their are plenty hundreds of better animes out their, and comparing it to its epic VN form just doesn't do the original justice..

in like 10 years somebody needs to go back and redo a bunch of the classic animes with a super high budget, and better voice acters, and make them accurate.

Like no more man faced Akiha, Chaos fighting being cool, and In Jojo's bizzare adventure make Dios voice far more insane, and make him use the steamroller not the oil tanker jeez, I almost cried when I saw that (I read the manga first), somehow manage to make fist of the north star even more dramatic.

Kinda like the way they went back and did hellsing again the original was good but the new one is cooler.

I mean eyes of death perception was obviously not enough already, so she gets all sorts of other crap too like darth vader choke (works on Ghosts thingys too O_o) and force jump, just waiting for force lighting, maybe thats what this new girl can do.

Don't turn this into Star Wars, please.

Anyway, the way they presented that bit was really weird and kind of nonsensical.  She isn't supposed to have any sort of magic choke or such abilities, it was originally just that she could grab ahold of spiritual things with her artificial arm, due to it being enhanced by Touko.  I think it would have been better if she just jumped out and grabbed ahold of her or something.  *shrugs*  But whatever.  I guess it was alright, even if it didn't make any sense, since they changed up most of that scene anyway.

This episode rocked, woooooooooo, ohhh did anyone read what they called the chapter titles in the gg-takaJun subs in case you missed it

Claymation intro
Prologue (THERE ARE NIPPLES IN DIS ANIME!)
Chapter 3
Chillin' out at da office
Here be pools of blood and tea parties
More blood, also more nipples
Massive wall of talking heads.
Since when was this a highschool romance.
fuck yes rain porn
Hella superpowers in action (MAGAREEE)
Epilogue, seriously touching stuff about smiles
ending credits
preview (Zombies WHAT?!)

by the way this claymation intro was the best yet.

edit:delayed nooooooo.

You might as well say "Nice Boat" in the "More blood, also more nipples" area, lol.

You know, the zombies preview imo I was like (EHHH?! (pretty much like ur descript) I mean it kinda made me think of something like some kind of resident evil type 3D animation. Only they prolly wanted Tsukihime's genre, but with zombies instead of vampires.

Am I the only one who's disappointed at how much they changed from the novel of chapter 3?  They changed more in this chapter than any of the previous ones.  I mean, it was good, but I was expecting more with how amazing this chapter of the novels is.

Yuen, the zombie thing will make more sense when you see the chapter.  It's not just like some random thing thrown in there.  It's a pretty major scene in that chapter.  Chapter 4 tells a lot about Shiki's current state, explains everything about the accident that led to it, and introduces the emergence of her ability to see with the mystic eyes.  It's a very story heavy chapter and very important towards understanding Shiki.

Also, on a random ass note that I feel like mentioning, I found out recently when routinely looking up more info on KnK (and other Type-Moon stuff) that Murder Study part 2 isn't actually a continuation of part 1.  Well, it sort of is, but it actually takes place last in the chapter timeline, whereas Murder Study part 1 takes place first in the timeline.  I remember earlier someone and I were talking about how we have to wait till chapter 7 to get part 2, but it's kind of irrelevant since it doesn't seem to explain anything more of the first part.  lol

Baka-tsuki has more translated than Mirror Moon does.  Also, you can find the summaries of the untranslated novels at Moonlit World's KnK page. (http://www2.ocn.ne.jp/~typemoon/rakkyo/index.htm)  Just click the synopsis links to read them.  They're very detailed for being just chapter summaries.

I've been disappeared for the past couple days, but now I'm finally going to be able to watch it.  I'll edit this or post again after watching with my thoughts, as usual.

-edit-
Wow, I think this one was done even better than the first episode, which was my previous favorite for how directly from the book it is.  They did a great job with almost everything, even down to the little details like Shiki breaking her finger while trying to cut the lines of death on the ghoul.  Their representation of Akasha was prolly the only thing that I was like "eh..." about, but it fit its purpose well enough.  I lol'd when the nurses called Mikiya "puppy-kun".  So appropriate.  Shiki's eyes going crazy while she still couldn't control them just after waking was pretty fucking awesome.  That had to be one of my favorite visual effects of the entire series so far.

The next ep preview made me so fucking giddy.  I can't wait for ch.5!  Paradox Spiral is the best chapter that I've read outside of ch.3 with Asagami, and the preview looks fucking badass.

I come back after an extended period of time, and this thread has only gotten to page 6? And one of the first things I see on what should be an epic thread is THIS retard commenting?

ur wrong they only have the german sub of it not the english one. i was highly mad that i downloaded only to find it wasn't in english

Grammar is srs bsns. AMIRITE?

God, I know, it was fucking amazing! I watched it yesterday when it I picked it up from the post office and I was simply amazed by it. Only a month to go till volume 5!

Chill out on all the talk about potentially illegal activities and get back to the discussion at hand.  Ep.5 is gonna be the sex, and I can't wait until this next month passes by so that I can finally see it.

The casual way Araya is mentioned as being replaced by Tohko passed by me the first time...

~M
Actually I noticed it very strongly.  It made me stop and think for a second, because I don't remember Araya being a speech counselor for Shiki at all.  But I figured it must've just been a way to solidify the fact that Araya is a central figure in the hospital, to explain why it's got a bounded barrier around it and so many stray spirits inside.  They handled that bit a little differently from what was in the book, IIRC.

It also made me sad that they didn't make any references to Fujyou in the hospital, or how her envy for Mikiya's love-filled visits led her to accept Araya's offer in the first place.  It would have been a nice touch, even if it was just subtly hinted at.  All that actually was explained at the end of the first chapter, but it still would have been a neat addition, since they're taking some small liberties with the story anyway.

I hope they really glorify the opening scene of chapter 5.  It could be so brutal if they do it right.

Just finished watching the fourth movie (had it laying around for a while... since the morning of the 18th, to be precise -_- so sue me). Absolutely LOVED the movie, to the point that I jizzed in my pants (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4pXfHLUlZf4) during some parts of it, especially when Shiki first got to experience her new Mystic Eyes of Death Perception (and got correspondingly scared shitless by them at first), and when Ms. Tohko threw her the knife near the end of the movie. The scene with Shiki slashing her hair off was nothing short of legendary. 「ジャマだ」 indeed. :O

Full 10/10 marks from me, and anxiously waiting for the next. Fukken Nakata Jouji will probably make me shit my pants in fear when he comes up next. :P

Oh no, you got hooked on that too DZ?  It seems like all my friends are jizzing in their pants regularly these days.  It's funny and all, but goddamn.

Anyway, glad that you've finally seen it.  Pretty dope episode, for sure.  Next ep will most likely be my ultimate favorite, if it does justice to the book.

How. Fucking. Annoying.

The day KnK c.5 releases I'm all pumped and preaching it to fucking everyone, then the next day my internet is mysteriously MIA.  4 days later, I finally have a connection again, albeit a fucking rocky one.  It continuously is connecting and disconnecting.  HOPEFULLY by tomorrow sometime I'll have the goddamn movie and get to catch up on what is easily the greatest chapter in the entire book.
: Re: Kara No Kyoukai!

Claymation with corrected volume uploaded and added to the playlist. I'll probably be re-recording the previous four as well to keep the quality and typesetting of the original gg/TakaJun subtitles like I did with this one.
: Re: Kara No Kyoukai!
: LoliSauce February 03, 2009, 05:18:54 PM
Okay, finally watched it.  Man, the only thing I didn't really like was how they minced up the order of things.  If I hadn't already read it before-hand, I'd have been confused on the real order of events.  Seriously though, I haven't seen anything as sexy as Shiki's first fight scene in this chapter in a loong time.  Tohko's small suitcase was pretty much how I expected it to be, but the visual representation of her large suitcase was way more badass than I expected.  Wtf was up with the wacked out camera movement in Shiki's final fight with Araya though?  That was kind of annoying.

Thinking about it, in the book, didn't Araya actually kill the top hat fag for calling Tohko the rotton red color and Araya got eaten by the large suitcase?  I'll have to go read through again to make sure I'm not mixing up anything.

Either way, badass episode.  I hope that the last two can compare.  Ch.6 isn't really that amazing, though it will give some service to any of the Azaka fans (Akiha fans, prepare to be converted).  I expect ufotable to do some embellishing in it.  Ch.7 is a pretty big deal though, being the revelation and conclusion of everything from ch.2.  It should be a good one.  Do we have release dates yet for either of the last two?
: Re: Kara No Kyoukai!
: motoh February 03, 2009, 07:57:25 PM
Azaka lacks Akiha's lethal presence so far, she just seems like the nice kid sister even when she's being rotten.

~M
: Re: Kara No Kyoukai!
: LoliSauce February 04, 2009, 10:30:19 PM
I'll accept that arguement, but I will counter with Azaka's increased determination to make Kokuto love her.  I mean, shit, she purposefully went to a far away college and isolated herself from her family JUST so that he would see her less as a sister and open up the chance for a lover's relationship.  It's just unfortunate for her that Shiki popped up.  In that regard, she's always subtly (sometimes blatantly) venomous towards Shiki in the book.  I don't think the movies can really do it justice since the book lets you hear her negative thoughts in addition to her seeing her polite facade.  Next chapter is all about Shiki and Azaka at Azaka's all-girl school though, so you'll be seeing a lot more of it.  Even so, I'd say Akiha definitely has more tsun attitude than Azaka, which may be the game breaker for deciding fans.

The books will always have this over the animated versions. I do admit though that the animated versions do a really good job in their representation of the books. I can't find movie 4 anywhere online (streamed). Anyone have a link where I can watch it? A bit too poor at the moment to buy it. Subbed version if possible, makes it a bit easier to go through than a raw japanese version.

Yeah, I originally was complaining about that when the first movie released...but by the time the second one came out I wasn't tripping about it anymore.  You can't expect visual and written media to be exactly the same, after all.  Ufotable certainly has done a good job though.

Sorry, don't know anywhere that's Streaming it D:

And yes, without a doubt that novel is superior to the visual adaptation, but of course, that's expected, but even then, they've done an amazing job at keeping it a damn good adaptation while giving it it's own twist of a sort.

Just got a small question (sorry if its been answered earlier in the thread but I've been trying to avoid spoilers)

Where did you guys manage to find the books for this, I've checked both amazon.co.uk (comes up blank) and amazon.com (comes up with garden of sinners but I don't think that is it since its by some bloke called Mad Andy lol) and the google shopping search only comes up with figures, so where did you manage to find it in english?

I've heard Del Ray are localising it but when searching the novels section of the site it comes up blank.

Thanks for any answers.

Edit: Oh nevermind risked spoilers and read into the thread anyway, didn't think you would be using the internet to read it because of the whole piracy thing, but I'm not complaining  :P (especialy since theres no information of whether the novels will ever actualy see light of day in england and the Del Ray site has no mention of the american release)

With KnK's recent popularity, and Type-Moon's history with getting shit localized over here, there's a better chance of the US seeing the movies and the book hit stateside now than ever.  Hopefully we'll see it come to fruition.

Considering that Tsukihime in both manga and anime form has been localized here, and FSN's anime has been brought over as well, I thought they seemed relatively in favor of it.  That'd be some bollocks if they actually prefer not to have their work localized.  It's understandable that they don't bring over visual novels, since those don't market well to an american audience, but anime and manga are booming in the states.

So I am now in love with Kalafina.
http://www.sonymusic.co.jp/Music/Info/kalafina/

I got their album "Seventh Heaven" which is made of win.

Now why am I posting this in this thread? Because Kalafina did the ED themes to all 5 of the KnK movies out. Additionally, the last 2 KnK movies will be featuring songs from this album as well. Yuki Kajiura is made of win for forming this group.

I am posting up on YouTube all 7 ED themes to KnK for ppl wanting to hear just the ED themes. Will post links in a few min when all 7 go up.

And yes, I do know what songs are going to be on the last 2 movies, they have been long since decided.

Oh shit, seriously? Can't you report that as fraud and get your money back though? I mean, unless it was stated that it wasn't a real copy, you should be able to, to the best of my knowledge anyways.  :psyduck:

Eh, it's not that big an issue for me. I mean, I am definitely satisfied with the CD and the quality of the songs is great.

Just a note for those unaware, but Kalafina is the name of a band that Yuki Kajiura is part of, if you'd like some of her earlier works they'd be under that name.  I know at the very least her album Fiction is sold in the states(Picked mine up at a local Bordrs for around 15$).

Kajiura is not a part of Kalafina, she formed the group and composed the music for the KnK movies, Kalafina performed them. I've got a couple of Kajiura's albums...beautiful music, all of them.

I considered her a part of it since she composes the songs and formed the group, even if she neither sings nor does instrumental for them.

Even Kajiura did some so-so music, but overall she's a genius. The founding of Kalafina was one of the greatest things she ever made, no doubt.

Regarding the series, it is not so great.  Sure, the production quality and animation is very very good, but the plot ruins it for me.  What were they thinking?  "Hey lets take what we have been working so hard and carefully on and twist the fuck out of the plot".  I mean come on, the latest episode tries to confuse you on purpose.  Are they trying to be DEEP or something by making the story almost impossible to follow?  The only really good thing the series has is the occasional awesomely animated action scene that makes up about 5% of the series, if your happy with just that then all power to you, but waiting for coming episodes on that chance is just stupid so I'm going to drop it.  What a shame.
: Re: Kara No Kyoukai!
: abitofBaileys March 29, 2009, 07:21:59 AM
Well we can't force you. It's not just the animation, but the music, the atmosphere, your beloved characters... and imo the 5th movie wasn't that confusing. Just randomizing scenes (even on purpose) looks different, they had a clue. And the movie makes it right so you think "Oh." at the beginning of the climax. Sure, the anime has its bad moments.

But there are not many anime that can compare to such an atmosphere. There are, but few and far between.

: Re: Kara No Kyoukai!

I'm waiting for the books to become serialized locally here in the states. While I have read the series in full, this was only over the internet and I can't find any copies online for sale AT A REASONABLE COST. Most places I find the books online up the cost of the books stupidly...and that doesn't count shipping fees. I really want to get a hold of a hard copy of the books.

I rather liked how they transitioned scenes in the movie. While it's not as complete as the books, where Nasu completely cuts the scene then goes to the next part, I think the transitions from scene to scene wasn't bad; at least they were fluid. The movie follows the books very well, in my opinion. If you think the movie was confusing, just think that it was modeled very similarly to how the books are. I don't think you can really complain when the way things are cut and then restarted is the way it was originally designed.

Yes because the novels are so different its going to change my opinion about the way the series is organized, right?   :V  Regarding the hole series, the characters aren't even that interesting either.  I know this series is supposed to be pretty dark but it sacrifices certain things to make it that way.  We see a group of very serious characters (Whom we don't know much about other than a little history about each) interact with each other in that serious manner (To keep the series dark, god forbid someone be happy in the series.)  And its overall just pretty boring.  Its so bad that whenever I see a "proto" character of someone from Tsukihime/FSN I think to myself "Oh that's proto-Shirou." or "That's Proto-Shiki." because the characters really don't establish themselves well.  So tell me, Why is the series organized in this confusing fashion? :mystery:

Yes because the novels are so different its going to change my opinion about the way the series is organized, right?   wakawaka  Regarding the hole series, the characters aren't even that interesting either. :mystery:

Because Nasu needs to learn to write better. Reading the novels might get you to understand why the KnK movies are as they are because you realize they are just following the story as Nasu wrote it.  His works are difficult to read through, he likes to contradict himself during his writings and he creates loopholes in his writing as well all the time. On top of that, he tends to make up words or change the intended meaning on words which creates disagreement on the meaning of phrases by translators.

I have read a number of his works, most in the original format, just transcribed onto the internet, and it is typically chopped up, distorted and overall confusing a lot of times as I go through. To understand what the story is about, you normally have to go through the entire story of whatever you are reading to learn all the basics, the stuff that is normally presented at the beginning. As you go through, you'll hit the big climax of the story and sometimes he'll just be introducing some more stuff that needs to be known beforehand to get the full picture.

Overall though, it's not hard to piece together everything he is saying, which is why there are so little negative connection to his writing. It is just Nasu's way of writing and I wish he would write in a more clear format, but then again, the way he writes and the way you read/interpret it is part of the whole Nasuverse that creates the setting and impact that he desires from his stories. I think he does a good job, I'm sure at least 80% of the people out there who read his works thinks he does a good job too.

In addition, all of Nasu's works are dark. They don't make themselves out to be happy endings until the absolute end, and even those seem more satisfying than happy. He doesn't create superhero characters as his main characters, he makes ordinary people who happen to have an extraordinary power/ability being the main character and they decide how they are going to use that power. Whether it be Mystic Eyes, magic or possession of a weapon not able to be wielded by any other. These powers are what make their users different but really, they are just normal people not trying to make too big a difference. Shirou may be the exception, but he doesn't actively use his powers to save people (ignoring his 'potential' future). In the story, he is just a boring, everyday person living his normal, boring everyday life...same goes for Shiki in Tsukihime and Shiki in KnK...and GunGod to some extent if you read Notes

Except all of the characters in the series you have mentioned have depth (Or they are more well thought out.)  Yes Nasu's works are dark but he will usually add some interesting elements (Humor, Occasional event that explains the characters history, everyday interactions with those characters that are interesting) that are just not there in KnK.  We get scenes where they are in a shop and they talk about who/what Shiki is going to kill next, random scenes with Shiki in her room and occasionally someone will visit, and very rarely will the characters even meet outside of these scenes to show how they interact out in the real world.  It is exactly like you say, Nasu's stories are usually about "Humans with supernatural abilities." and its a good formula that makes his stories interesting, except KnK doesn't follow it.  Look at Ryougi, does she look like your average human?  Or even Aozaki?  Remember when you read Tsukihime and saw how Tohno reacts in his situations?(With fear, humor, insanity.).  HE is a normal human being with supernatural powers, even Shirou (He expresses various emotions through all of FSN routes.) and the formula proved to be successful once again.  Well they are relatively "Normal" human beings but they aren't as messed up or as boring as Ryougi.  In KnK you don't see the main character react much to anything (Why did they have to make her a robot?  Did they think it would be interesting to see an emotionless "Human" go around killing shit and not have much development?).  Yes its true 80% of the people accept Nasu's work even if it is distorted but 99% would accept Nasu's work if it was clear (minus the 1% of fags who appreciate how "DEEP" it is for being so distorted.).  Ultimately, it just feels like I'm watching a less interesting Tsukihime.

The thing about Ryougis way of behaviour is because of her made-up acting. Just throwed in. People like Touko or Mikiya are definitely showing emotion. But you can say that KnK itself is just the embodiment of the Rule of Cool.

Would be useful for convincing people to give up there dillusions that there's a tsukihime anime. What a bunch of crock.  :slowpoke:

Anyway, to stay on topic, KnK Episode 6 DVD Release Date confirmed @ Mirror Moon. July 29, 2009. If they end up subbing it again, should only take a week or two. Maybe 3 or 4 weeks if its another 2 hour episode.

Plus, all you azaka fanboys will finally have VISUAL source material to fap to.  :fap: :fap: :fap:

So am i the only one that was disappointed with KnK6? I love Azaka as much as anyone, but the plot seemed kind of.... Out of place compared to the last 5 movies. And the fight scene was kind of weak to me too, but that's just me being a fag and preferring beautiful, artful technique in a battle, (Which is why Ryougi made me love KnK combat in the first place) over screaming really loud and punching them hard after baking them with fire. (azaka's duel with the plant/faerie/bug/squid/thing)

Secondly, did anyone else notice that Seo's dog's name is Akira? Most lol-worthy moment of the entire movie imo.

And finally, please tell me Lio's abilities improve and become more impressive then being able to consume a corpse in an hour. If he's gonna be a villain worthy of filling the void left by Araya for the final episode, well.... He just seems kind of fail right now.

Don't spoil anything for ep 7, just wondering if he actually becomes a threat or not. Heres hoping he becomes a Sakura/Nero esque population devourer.

Azaka wasn't as tsundere as I expected her to be, but I'm actually a little glad.  Over the top tsundere feels kind of played out to me.  Azaka was really adorable in some scenes though.  "Ah?  Eh?  Eto...panchi! (whiff~)"  lol.

They didn't really do as much with Satsuki as I remember in the light novels, but that's alright I guess.  His ability is pretty neat though.  It's a shame they dumb it down (or at least dumb down the explanation of it) in the movie.  I was impressed at how much they buffed up Azaka's fight scene with the fairy bitch though.  Oh ufotable~  You really know how to make anything exhilarating.

Anyway, pretty good chapter all in all.  Not the best, but surprisingly not the worst either.  The final chapter's just around the corner though!

So am i the only one that was disappointed with KnK6? I love Azaka as much as anyone, but the plot seemed kind of.... Out of place compared to the last 5 movies.
Yeah, this chapter in the light novels is the weakest by far, and adds very little into the grand plot.  But you know, it wouldn't be Type-Moon without a healthy dose of flat chested and/or incestuous tsundere, so whatever.  Chalk it up to a necessary evil, I guess?  To be honest though, I think this chapter needed to get a little of that ufotable spice to make it a bit more interesting to sit through.

I'm glad to see that Azaka can stand with the big punchers, and while Satsuki was a bit of a disappointment, the implication that he's related to Shiki's alter disappearance is nicely chilling.

Azaka doesn't look it, but she's rather strong...enough so to push down Mikiya even...I don't know if that is saying much looking at Mikiya though.

Agreed with stuff here. Of them all, I would say that my least favorable story in KnK is this one. It doesn't do much at all in the light novel except add the side thing with Satsuki. The whole reason the story existed was simply to add him in without being like "lol, here's some random guy that knows what happened, lol." His purpose in the light novels as well is rather dull, he doesn't do much at all.

Despite this being my least preferred chapter in the light novels, I do have to give mad props to UFOTable for making this still very enjoyable to watch. And also shout out to Kalafina for making my second favorite KnK theme song, although it did get tiring hearing it in the background every 5 minutes. UFOtable needs to learn how to animate dogs a little better, imho.

spoiler alert
So why did Shiki need to be there? Because of her eyes, yes...but she saw one (1) fairy with her eyes...it didn't even do anything. At the end, fairies are everywhere and like 'lol, you can see me because i fail at being a stealthy fairy, lol'. mystic eye necessity for the fail.

also the preview to the next movie with XXXX eating the dead body is wow. 1 hour to eat a whole body? grats, i think i just lost at all eating contests for the rest of my life.

I'll be honest, you guys are torturing me. I still haven't downloaded/watched any of the movies, waiting for the last one to come out, and then I come here and here you are coming over the movies. Gee, thanks.

As for more KnK people in MB, I think Shiki's already enough. If they have time to put in another KnK character, they should employ it putting someone else from Tsukihime, say, Shiki, Arihiko... Honestly, wouldn't Kiri be a good TATARI for Kouma?
(I'd hate to mention this, but frankly, I'd rather have another Neco instead of another KnK character)

a Neco-Mech produced by Dr.Amber would be fine too  :psyduck:

Lol Shin.  The next movie's gonna be ridiculous.  Just wait.  Lio's a failure, but the ending is great!  Also there's a little twist nestled in there for everyone to enjoy.  And I don't think I even need to say how I feel towards loli shiki...

As for adding Azaka in, my preferences would be:
1. Tsuki characters
2. Tsuki 2 chars
3. Knk chars
.
.
10. Necos
.
.
.
75. F/SN chars

Honestly though, Azaka would be kind of pointless it'd be like another Akiha (and there's already 3 Akihas going on).  Also it's not like KnK people have any relation to the story.  Ryougi's obviously just there for fanwankery and promotional reasons.

I have the books, I've read through them several times. So yeah, I know how Lio stands among things. I kinda like the ending, but I raged for Shiki after the BS that happens. Rakkyo 7 is my fourth favorite of the Rakkyo stories. The ending was good, but I rather like the ending to some of the other stories in Rakkyo. The epilogue doesn't do too much either. All of the stories are good, that's for sure, it's hard to decide the middle stories in position.

On second thought, I wasn't too sure how much I would like 忘却録音 (besides the fact it's Azaka's story and there are lots of moe moments, it's still a 'filler' story in KnK), but UFOtable did a damn good job with it, so hell, I might actually like 殺人考察(後) more than I am figuring.

1 矛盾螺旋 (of course...this is like everyone else's too)
2 痛覚残留
3 伽藍の洞
4 殺人考察(後)
5 俯瞰風景
6 殺人考察(前)
7 忘却録音

If we compare serial killers, Tsukihime's > Rakkyo's. Nanaya would pwn him.

I'll be honest, you guys are torturing me. I still haven't downloaded/watched any of the movies, waiting for the last one to come out, and then I come here and here you are coming over the movies. Gee, thanks.

Well, the movies are easily available online. I couldn't wait for my copy to arrive, so I just watched 忘却録音 online. Had a friend order the special edition and he's supposed to be picking it up when he's out in Japan, so when he gets back (2 weeks) I should have it with the OST.  :fap: :fap:

Kiri would be awesome of a character with how over the top badass he's supposed to be. But I was just joking about adding Azaka, it's just because of one of the scenes in 忘却録音 where she whiffs a 2A, I had to say it.

(I'd hate to mention this, but frankly, I'd rather have another Neco instead of another KnK character)

A cat is fine too.

I'd say it is more like Ciel's charged 4B, than V.Akiha's jC. It doesn't have the little mid-air flip. If we are being specific about it.  :P :P :P
: Re: Kara No Kyoukai!

Yeah, it was definitely an axe kick, similar to ciel 4b or aoko 4c.  I thought the random ass axe kick was kind of...well...random?  *shrugs*  I liked the Burning Hearts Explosive Right Cross Buster Deluxe Edition Now With 200% More Incest punch more.

I think my favorite of them all so far was chapter 5, purely for the ridiculous hoard of zombies battle.  That was just...unbelievably sexy animation and choreography.

"punch" from Azaka made the entire film at least 2x worth watching lol

KnK6 makes up for its lack of plot importance with actually having a logical understanding of the progression of time.

Call me crazy but I like it when they don't cut the show into 10-20 minute segments then hit randomize.

I hope it is, though it's certainly not as much content as ch5 was.  It's still the important finale though, so it deserves a strong showing.

It would be hard to top CH5. I thought it was amazing. Especially the end fightscenes.

The only thing I didn't like about Ch5 was how they made the camera go fucking crazy during the end fight.  It made it unnecessarily hard to follow.  My favorite part was the zombie fight vs all the puppet tennants.  So fucking beautiful and well choreographed!

Word.  But if it is going to be a 2 hour movie, then I better watch it in the dark and enjoy the storyline and really pay attention to it.  Plus in my opinion in order to top CH5...it's gotta be deep and have more fight scenes and more blood lol... ;D :fap: :blah:

"TakaJun doesn’t have internet.

I know that fansub leechers are fucking retarded, so this means that, “The translator doesn’t have internet.” To put it in even more plain terms, “It is impossible to sub KnK 7 right now.”

One would think I could just leave it at, “The translator doesn’t have internet” but you know, the concept of not having a translator doesn’t actually get through to people seeing as how the majority believe that fansubbing can be done without a translator.

Edit: Hay gaiz, Takajun has internet now. Rejoice."

Doesn't say when the edit was. Basically, expect lengthy delays on the KnK7 translation, unless someone else is doing it too. (even then, i'll wait for taka's just because I used his subs to read the first 6 movies. why stop now?)

Oh well. We waited this long, whats another few days, amirite? He'll finish it when he finishes it. Nothing we can do but be patient. Not like he gets anything out of it, getting pissy doesnt solve anything.
