When's Melty on Steam?
ahaha that's no--wait, what?
: Melty Blood and Castlevania
: COD3player November 19, 2007, 02:25:01 AM
I'm a big fan of the Castlevania games and the more I play those and Melty Blood, the more similarities I see between them. I'll begin....

Richter Belmont: Wields a whip. Family had studied the art of alchemy in the past. Served under the Church's command earlier on.
Sion Eltnam Atlasia: Alchemist. Wields a whip-like weapon. Worked for the Church prior to the events of Melty Blood.

Dracula and Warakia: Vampires. Costumes are similar, most noticeably the colors.
Sidenote: Warakiya is the name of the town that fell under attack at the start of CV3.

The throne and wine glass.

Arc Brunestud and Maria Renard: The stunningly beautiful blondes.

Richter Belmont: Thousand Daggers (knife item crash)
Ciel: EX Knives

Sister Tera and Ciel(color #13): Nuns. Identical colors.

So those are the similarities I've noticed so far. If there's any others I might have missed, just mention them.

Richter Belmont:  Exceedingly difficult to control compared to the BMW of Castlevania character control, Alucard.
Sion:  Extremely difficult to master, a highly technical character.

Legion:  Lots of bodies, one mind.
Nrvnqsr:  See above.

Compare Roa and Mathias Cronqvist in appearance.

Dracula and Roa both constantly resurrect, only to be vanquished quickly.

Don't you try to out-bored ME, mister.

Roa and Mathias Cronqvist ~motoh
Before they became vampires, both sought eternal life.

(http://img87.imageshack.us/img87/8726/vsionbu9.jpg)(http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/3664/bloody4gb7.png)(http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/4564/bloody3sy9.png)
Bloody tears.
Sidenote: Bloody Tears is one of the songs commonly found in Castlevania games.

A really obvious one, and I feel like an idiot for not mentioning from the start:

Millenium Castle Brunestud and Castlevania
Both are castles and homes to vampires.

Think French Bread was inspired by Castlevania, or are some of these commonly used stereotypes?

Wallachia is actually the name of the ex-city-state which Vlad III (a.k.a Vlad the Impaler or Vlad Dracula, the person that the original fictional character Dracula was based on) was a prince of.

That's quite cool... Is Castlevania an RPG or a fighter like Melty?
: Re: Melty Blood and Castlevania
: COD3player November 20, 2007, 07:03:12 PM
Castlevania falls under two categories: platformer and action/adventure. The latter of the two has RPG-like elements (exploration, levelling, equipping, etc).

Sion Eltnam Atlasia: Alchemist. Wields a whip-like weapon. Worked WITH the Church prior to the events of Melty Blood.

Etherlite isn't a whip-like weapon, Melty Blood just took liberties.   :V

Who let Linalys off his 'technicalities of the Tsukihime story' leash again?

My ankles still hurt... ; ;

It was the first related image I could find on google images since I can't take screenshots from my PSP. D:

Uhh Walachia IS dracula.  That's the form he's taken in MB was the one he took when he bit Sion.  Which was Dracula.  It's not how he looked like before he was TATARI.

...Didn't Melty Blood INTRODUCE the Etherlite?

I think his point was the Etherlite is first and foremost an information-gathering and Espionage tool, Sion just likes using it for BDSM games.

Sweet I love the Castlevania series too, because I admire Kojima's work on the characters for a long time. Interesting comparisons nontheless.

I dig H-F's sig muchos :3

Probably the closest relation (in my eyes) is Dracula and Warakia

Also, anyone know about a Castlevania for the 360?

You're probably the only one who knows where it's from. :-X

The only Castlevania that I'm aware of that's available for an Xbox/360 is Symphony of the Night for XBLA.

Another striking similarity that I forgot x_X

...Didn't Melty Blood INTRODUCE the Etherlite?

Story mode, Shion, and everything else was still created by Type-Moon.

Melty Blood just took those and ran with it.

I got bored, and I recently stumbled upon these.

Not the exact same but pretty close. Sion's win quote is more like a mix between Richter's old dialog and his re-written one for the PSP version of SotN.

This one doesn't have images:
-What item can be stolen from Trevor Belmont in Curse of Darkness? Curry. Apparently it's his favorite food. When you do steal it, he assaults you with one of his most powerful attacks. I suppose he isn't too pleased.

-What is Ciel's favorite food? Curry, obviously.

Nanaya's 236a/b/c = Crissaegrim or Holbein Dagger
Nero's Summon's = Sword of Dawn

SotN's Crissaegrim, easily.

Mmm... where did "Walpurgis" come from, then? If you go through the list of stages, there's one called "Night of Walpurgis." I'm going from memory here, though.

I'm sure that actually has some historical origins of some sort, but am I the only person here that instantaneously thinks of Bible Black whenever they hear that?  :prinny:

Want your mind crushed even more?

In Dawn of Sorrow, after Persephone bows like Hisui, she starts to do kung-fu moves like a certain Mr. Chin. :slowpoke:

weeaboo...
Walpurgisnacht is an event honoring Saint Walpurga, originally derived from a pagan ritual.  Think of it like the german St. Patty's Day
