Reaction time (who has the frame of justice?)
« on: November 18, 2007, 09:49:28 PM »
So a bunch of people were waving their e-penises (or lack thereof) on IRC in regards to their reaction time.

So I open it up to this forum.

We were using http://www.humanbenchmark.com/tests/reactiontime/index.php -- it's purely flash-based. So account for any issues (input lag, display lag, etc.) on your own.

From a set of 5 clicks I came out with an average of 186.4

I know for a fact that I have a slow reaction time in general so I assume that this score is pretty bad.

Coming from you, a person who I've seen successfully ex shield more times in a single round than I have in my entire Melty career makes that quite a hard statement to swallow...

...Hmm, maybe if the characters in Melty turned green when I'm able to shield I'd have a better chance of making top 3 at a West Toast. :V

1 second = 60 frames = 1000 milliseconds
1 frame = 16.66666667 milliseconds
Sol's Grand Viper starts up in 17 frames, or 284~ milliseconds

Just to put things in perspective.

For example:

I did it 10 times and got an average of 238. Doing it 5-10 times and recording the average is probably the fairest way of getting your true reaction time.

First 5 yielded an average of 228. Comparing that to everyone else here makes me sad =(
edit: Pi, that's some nice guessing on a preemptive single click... I suppose you were attempting to impress us?
edit2: Second try yielded 198. I feel a lot better now :x

Best time
(Picture of 86ms time)
Don't want to rain on your party, but...
Quote from: HumanBenchmark FAQ
At the moment, clicks under 100 milliseconds aren't counted for the leaderboard.

Why not?
Anything faster than 100 milliseconds is usually lucky click. As you can see on the stats page, everything from 0 to 130 milliseconds is about the same, and the actual bell curve seems to start at 130 milliseconds. I would be inclined to make the cutoff 130, but a few of the fastest players do seem to be getting legitimate results closer to 100. This way, the average people might rack up some lucky clicks, and the really good players can have their fastest clicks counted, and stay in the top ranks anyways.

I got a 205.8 first try (friend did it before me, so I have a 250 or so one on the board). My best single try was like 160-165.

110 is my new single high score, too lazy to screenshot it since I don't really care if someone doesn't believe and it was probably luck anyways.
