First of all, mods: If this rather belongs in Sacchin Toast, allow me to apologize and request that this thread be moved there. :)

Now, to the point of this thread. :P

Yeah, so you like to watch anime, huh. Actually, there's no way in this reality a bunch of guys who fap themselves to playing a doujin fighting game like us wouldn't like anime, but that's beside the point.

So I decided to make this thread to create a central hub in which to discuss whatever anime series you're currently watching, and hand out opinions on what other people are watching. I myself have watched quite my share of it, listed here (http://myanimelist.net/animelist/DZ). Currently, I'm on to episode 8 of Soul Link, and though it hasn't really been the crème de la crème, it's at least been enjoyable so far. Though, maniac as I am with kissing scenes in anime (http://dzdesigns.centraldown.com/remote/kissavatars/?gallery), I was kinda pissed when they blew the only scene so far perfect for a kiss and didn't show it onscreen (same thing happened when I watched Fate/stay night, with Rin kissing Shirou and later Shirou kissing Saber). >_> Oh well.

In any case, for the time being, whatcha watchin'? :)
: Re: So you like anime, huh? Whatcha watchin' right now?
: Hush January 04, 2008, 10:42:28 PM
damn i can't even think of all the anime i've see, but i didn't pick up a new one that looks good today. H2O footprints in the sand, its based off a game. i think its goign to be 12 eps so it better not end like the others i just finished ended... >:( that means myself:yourself...Goshuushou-sama Ninomiya-kun... LovCom, all of those ending could've been alot better. myself:yourself should've been longer IMO cuase those last 2 eps got rushed to death. i hope they'll be OVAs for Goshuushou-sama Ninomiya-kun. if your looking for a cute/funny anime go watch Seto no Hanayome, its ended last summer. well enough of that i'll just try to make up a list too.

: Boku January 04, 2008, 11:47:17 PM
Just finished Haruhi. The ending episode was better than the whole anime IMO.

Before that was "Higurashi no Naku Koro ni". Holy fucking shit. That series was FUCKED UP. And totally awesome. It made #2 on my top 5 all-time anime. Proceeded only by Ghost in the Shell.

And prior to that was Ergo Proxy. That anime... it lacked action. I know it was extremely philosophical, but there are ways to do that while packing in some explosions and gunfights that keep my attention. It was like a half-hour philosophy class every time I sat down to watch an episode. It was good, but in no way my favorite.

On my list to watch currently:
Mai-HiME
Mai-Otome (aka Mai-Z-HiME)
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai
Fate/Stay Night

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai is so close to being finished that I'm not going to bother starting anything till I'm done with it. Any suggestions on what to watch after though?

I totally rep Inuyasha and Naruto. Best series ever! I'm totally cosplaying as Miroku next con!

Umm, just wondering...

Is Melty Blood like based on an anime or something? The story would be really cool if they ever decided to make one!

you said you haven't watched fate stay night. that was really good. mushishi is a must watch if you haven't seen it. full metal panic is awesome(especially the fumofu series).  Sayonara zetsubo sensei is one of my favorites. Nodame Cantabile is really great.

Also, here are some that i thought were great or really interesting but have less of a widespread agreement about there greatness.  Aria(not action. more of a peaceful days thing but very original. no school life thanks)  Black lagoon(definitely action but pretty original). Record of Lodoss War(true oldschool greatness. knights and stuff.)  Sunabozu( what can i say, never been done before. both awesome and suprising. farily heavy on the action). Zipang(oldschool omg. who the hell wrote this. its awesome. not in my top 10 though).  Code geass( probably not for everyone, fair bit of action. i liked the concept).  Junni kokki(about 50 eps. really good. only problem is the first 15 or so are kinda average and it has to much emo.)  Ghost hound(Started this season. 10 eps out and its pretty nice. bit of a slow start though, supposedly by the person responsible for ghost in the shell) The third( not fore everyone , i liked it though. watch with caution i suppose.)  Star Ocean Ex( and excellent anime based on the epic star ocean 2nd story for the ps1. in some ways its better then the source material. has its issues though.)  Well, thats all for now. i may post some more if you want them.

Actually, I'm watching Lucky Star (finally!), after that I'm moving to Kanon and Tsukuyomi -MOON PHASE-.
I really enjoy epic and manly stuff, like GGG, but I tend to be a sucker for tragic dramas, like Elfen Lied, Kannazuki no Miko, or X.

Actually, Elfen Lied was the third series I watched, and after I watched it, I completely broke down for around 3 weeks/a month. Luckily, I got over it, but I'm still a sucker for tragedies.

I usually just roll with the season, but since a new anime season is just starting I'll pretty download anything at this point and pick out the keepers and stick with them. At this point I've only seen H20 and it rocked my soul.

Last season I watched:
- CLANNAD (and will continue watching it since it's carrying over)
- EF (SHAFT did a good job making this, my candidate for anime of the year)
- HiguKai (I liked the Higurashi first season)
- Myself;Yourself (typical drama)
- Sketchbook (good slice-of-life to kick back and watch)
- Zetsubou-sensei (downloaded any sub of it because no one was releasing it on a solid timeline)
- Shion no Ou (Anime about shogi that I got to ep.9 before realizing that i never understood shogi and dropped it)

waiting for the episodes to come out for bleach, dgrayman, shakugan no shana 2 and gundam 00

finished gurren lagann like a few days ago, was surprised at how good it was, except that the coolest guy died way too early. good thing they had a time skip, i would not have been able to deal with another prepubecent main character.

Elfen Lied was awesome too, Lucy is the greatest female anime character, and i mean Lucy, not her fucked up baby side. (forget what they called her) I dont think this is more emotionally scarring than Evangelion though, that sht was hardcore...

The main series right now are Clannad, Ef~tale of memories (I have just one last ep. to watch), Prism Ark, Minami-ke, Dragonaut, Night Wizard, Ghost Hound, Shana season 2, and Da Capo II. I'm behind on most of these... >.>; And I also have a couple shows from previous seasons I need to finish eventually.

I recently got a hold of the first episodes of Rosario + Vampire, H2O ~footprints in the sand~, and Ayakashi. So I'll also be watching those soon.

It has for me, for the past... what, three, four years? :P It's been literally YEARS since I last turned the TV on to actually watch anything besides my games (from my laptop) or a DVD movie. :P

Black Lagoon was unique. The scenario is original and refreshing aside the most genre typical animes. The OST is stylish, the animation genius and hell, Revy <3

And for the otaku nerds: Season 2 includes crazy incest crossdressing goth meido splatter lolis. With axes and damn big guns.

Well you're gonna watch it all eventually so roll a dice =D
The only time i suggested to someone to watch one first over another was the My- Series. Because of continuation issues its better to watch otome first before hime. To avoid disappointment.

Yeah I hate it when people make so much complaints about simple style or otherwise known as "Villain-of-the-week" anime. Rosario is pretty good but lotsa people are already putting it down cuz its villain of the week, what matters in the end is as you say: good to watch.

Well as for old school anime, not currently but the usual ones I rewatch from time to time are
-Cowboy Bebop
-Yu Yu Hakusho
-Neon Genesis Evangelion
-etc etc

especially random robot anime from my childhood days liek Voltes V, Mazinger Z, Daimos, etc etc

Epic thread revival is epic.

Just finished watching the new Appleseed movie, Appleseed: Ex Machina. It was freaking awesome, much better (if that's at all possible) than the previous movie... And apparently, something that rose my spirits even higher was the fact that I found out that there's a freaking ANIMATED CG SERIES (26 episodes) coming up on April next year. :D

In the meantime, I'm also watching Happiness! while I take a short break from Nagasarete Airantou. :)

Hmm, I didn't see winter garden, but I'm pretty sure, from what I've heard, that it's completely different from original Di Gi Charat. DGC is just pure, unaduterated, random nonsense, as far as Eye Beams and Mouth Bazookas go.

Most recent anime I've watched were Genshiken 2, Zetsubou Sensei, Minami-ke, and both seasons of Higurashi.  Once this season ends, I'll be starting up on Shana Second, Clannad, Zoku Zetsubou Sensei, and Minami-ke Okawari.  I still at some point want to watch Gurren Lagann and maybe Code Geass too, just haven't gotten around to getting ahold of them yet.

I just hope more than anything that Shana Second doesn't disappoint, since first season is one of my favorites.

In the meantime, I'm also watching Happiness! while I take a short break from Nagasarete Airantou. :)
I think Happiness! is a cool guy eh uses magic and has hottest trap evar and doesnt afraid of anything.

As for myself I'm catching up on older series. Recently I've gone through Mai-HiME (about fucking time, I know), Jojo's Bizzare Adventure, Black Lagoon, Rozen Maiden Traumend, and Rozen Maiden Ouverture.

Next on my list are:
Higurashi Kai
Mai-Otome
Fate/Stay Night

The only currently running series I'm keeping up with is Mnemosyne, which is made of win and Galneryus and lesbians and god.

Also: heard rumors of a Higurashi season 3? Anyone have any info on this?

Oh!  I forgot I still have to watch Rozen Maiden Traumend and Ouverture at some point too.  I've still only seen the first season.  =x

Also, I've heard some babble about Higurashi s3 as well, but I don't think there's any backing behind it.  The story doesn't really have anywhere to go, if you ask me.  You'll understand when you finish Higurashi Kai.  They end it pretty definitively.

If you enjoyed Mai-HiME, you'll love Mai-Otome -- same premise, but more action-oriented than the  original. Plus, the sequel (Mai-Otome Zwei) and the prequel (Mai-Otome S.ifr) are pure <3 and win.

I've heard something about the story, although the intel I got might be wrong. According to it, Rena and Keiichi are already aware about the culprit, and try to take care of everything themselves.

Currently watching Shakugan no Shana, Hayate no Gotoku, Clannad, and Bleach. ;D

I have a crapload of anime stored up to watch though, like Minami-Ke, Bamboo Blade, GunGrave, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, Karas, Sousei no Aquarion, NHK Ni Youkoso, Persona Trinity Soul, Prince of Tennis Semi Finals, and Sketchbook.

Super old stuff I have saved that I should've watched already but haven't are Full Metal Alchemist, Samurai Champloo, and Afro Samurai...

As for Higurashi... I watched the first and second seasons and loved the series as a whole. The first season scared the hell out of me, but the second season was amazing. You actually find out the reason for all the insane stuff in the first season.

But a third season? I heard about it, but I kept wondering, what exactly would the third season include? I felt like the second season wrapped up the series pretty well.

Yeah, it really was awesome, and conclusive. Also, Manly K1 is Manly. Or should I say K?

As for the third season, I think everybody who's watched Kai is wondering the same thing. We'll just have to wait to be sure...

That isn't a Tsukihime anime. It's more like a studio who decided to adapt the story of Tsukihime and draw everyone with manfaces, dumb down the fights, neglect all the other characters, and have a low budget, like a shitty doujin or something.

A real Tsukihime anime would be acknowledged by Tsukihime fans, as we hate this 100 times worse version of Tsukihime so much we just pretend it doesn't exist.

It truly is a matter of "to each their own", though.

Most Japanese Higurashi fans, having played Higurashi themselves, dislike the anime adaptation immensely because of how inferior it is to the source material, apparently, but there isn't much translation of those here, so the anime is thus propped up.

Those of us who've played all 5 routes and read the amazing story that is Tsukihime in visual novel form, along with Kagetsu Tohya, dislike the anime for the same reason - it doesn't give off the same sort of awesomeness as the source material. Considering how many of us actually liked the other routes than Arc, and loved the music and fight scenes very much, to have these things erased from the anime (jesus, the fights were fail. Where's my hundreds of different animals/huge crabs/musclebound light-speed Nero? Where's my blood-sword SHIKI? Where's my Akiha hair attack and her background story? Where were ANY of the background stories of the maids and everyone? What about Sacchin's death at the hands of Shiki? I mean, come on.)

Also, Red Demon God should have somehow gotten in the anime. They left out so much that it's almost criminal.

No.

OVAs are direct to video. All SEVEN KnK movies are coming in theaters and ufotable produced, and so far look fucking awesome.
However, the first DVD isn't coming till late May, so we won't get subs till then.
