I don't want to pull anything from them that would possibly spoil a log either Sp00ky or Zar may write after the tournament, but I'm just going to throw random tidbits here and there with what's going on thus far:

I called Sp00ky 10 minutes ago (2:20 pm est) and was told that the cabinet for MB had just been set up but was having all sorts of problems with the monitor / display, like with the fact that you couldn't see the meter at the bottom of the screen. Sounds like a repeat of FRX .

A few moments later Zar was on the cabinet and laying waste to whoever was playing as well.

I'll call again later today, and then on Saturday as well, just to check up and all that good stuff.

Ok, it seems the problem has been fixed, and it wasn't as 'ugly' as the situation at FRX, so I take that back. Sp00ky said he adjusted to the speed difference very quickly (commenting on how his character can be played out cold and what not) while Zar has been continuing go at it with casuals to get used to it yet again.

They have yet to come in contact with Ruu or Mint, but have run across Issei, Bas, and Nuki thus far.

Yeah I just got off the phone with a few minutes ago and he's pretty much saying the same thing.

Ten teams, outside of Ruu noones actually managed to give them any trouble. Vic played Mint and beat him pretty damn easily, but has only been able to get a round here or there off of Ruu, same with Saiyd.

According to Vic, unless they really fucked up really badly they're in finals easy. He predicts that he'll beat Mint, then lose to Ruu, and that it'll be a toss up between Ruu and Saiyd, though honestly speaking it seems that Ruu will probably win. Some rounds have come off as if Ruu let him win, but Ruu is just a really solid player who's got everything down.

Ruu's also entered in like 5 other games (that he doesn't play at all haha) so they haven't had a chance to sit down and talk with him really (though his English is all that good either).

Also, the tournament is being run on Ver.B1, not CE. Not necessarily a bad thing, as Aoko is better in B1, and there's nothing wrong with V.Sion either.

And yeah, Arturo missed everything.

This is actually significant, as while V.Sion/Aoko are not really changed from ver.B, Ren is -- not having controllable black cats hurts her quite a bit.

How the fuck are they not on ver.B2, though? It's been out for about a month.

Thankfully Ruu didn't bring a competent Sion player with him or they would be in trouble.

Well I meant it's not a bad thing for them. Hell, it's a realllllllly good thing for them that he can't control black cats now, because they can barely take a round off of him as is.

And I don't have a clue how they're not on ver.B2, and yet they're running AHFull.

Right? I HAVE NO IDEA.

Let's hope that one of them either has a breakthrough or decides to run ridiculously good during the tournament when fighting Ruu.

I don't think it'd be a stretch at all to say that Zar and Sp00ky are almost at Japanese level. The only thing they're missing is a week of exposure to a variety of Japanese play, but everything else seems to be there.

Also, Fucking Cat! for the win.

I can't see them not playing MB at all between now and SBO. Sure the PC release is due relatively soon, but what else are they going to do? Buy a cabinet?
