The death of TV-links is semi-old, but damn, it sucked. Then a few days later, a private music tracker that I will not name got taken down. I had such decent ratio there too!

Funny though... I think YouTube isn't really getting penalized, right? Anime that gets deleted gets re-uploaded, and since there's so many users, the admin can't do much... Right? And YouTube is way too popular, I mean, I hear people talking about the 'latest cool video' on YouTube all the time on the radio. It simply has too much hype now, right?

Oh heavens no, they don't make enough for that.  But if they keep tabs on them, they can quickly delete their content when the trademark holders come knocking.  See the Great Claymore purge as an example.  Hundreds of videos, almost the full series on there, then nuked in the space of an evening, even without tags on some of them.

One week later, robust community back again.
