What's written on Ciel's seventh holy scriptures.
« on: February 18, 2008, 02:59:33 AM »
Quite a strange question, but watching the anime again, I screenshotted some stuff. Since TYPE MOON co-produced the anime, there must be some sense behind the text - or it's just some random quote. I took the time and typed it down so one can read it.

XXX = not readable

lorsqu'ils s'ennuient ferme. En outre, ils évitent les jeux où

What do you think? I can't read this because I don't speak French at all.

It's been two years since I last spoke/took French, but with some help from websites and my ability in grammar, I'll see what I can do. (There better be heats in this, lol.)

----

My Last Years

They became impatient of my brush as I sent (envo- ---> envoyer) a message to their side. I cling to their muddy shoes and call for them to expect me. If I do not work out a new plan of battle, it is me who will lose my breath first.

In short, this novel is not very funny. It is made in installations. This kind of book, whether one writes a page or a hundred of them. I was optimistic by hoping at least a sincere element would leave an impression.  What makes a good work? Despairing about my style as stinking and talkative, I write nevertheless to meet "at least a good thing, at least one". This work, will stop people at the sight of it : It's what I yearned for. Ah! I should write a novel without having an ulterior motive. With good intentions, one does not make good literature. How could I have been so stupid - and what horrible things it contains! If one is in a estatic state one will never be able to write a novel. If a word or sentence goes into your heart and then into ten different directions, it is better to break your brush and throw it away. That is what Yôzô, of Hida or again of Kosuge, has no need for, because one knows what they're coming from. Would be gentle, would be gentle. Spontaneous, without reflecting.

This evening, the night was quite old when the younger brother of Yôzô witnessed it with their private clinic. Yôzô played the charts with Hida and Kosuge. Day before, when the brother XXX too of the three. But it is not necessary to believe because they feel out their daily charts written by their hand. They leave the charts only when they are completely bored. Moreover they avoid the plays where...

-----

So it's a summary ripped from perhaps a biography of a writer of screenplays and his lamenting over the fact his work doesn't seem sincere like his friends. More than likely the studio for the Tsukihime Anime (If it existed) looked for the most random text in French (Or maybe his daughter was studying the language or something) and ripped the pages for asthetic purposes; because French looks cool.

Nice translation. Now, I understand the text completely. The HEAT goes for you.

I found out that a novel called "Mes dernières années" was written by Dazai Osamu, a japanese writer.

Maybe I could get the book and read through it to find the reference. Thanks again, Chun.

Here, gave it a try considering French is my first language and all. Also there's a few mistakes in the French transcription I had to go back through (misaligned lines and such).

My last years

are made impatient by my clumsy brush and flew away on their own sides. I cling to their muddy shoes and yell at them to wait for me. If I do not elaborate a new battle plan, I will be the first to lose breath.

In short, this novel isn't very funny. It is made only of poses (really not sure about this one, not even sure what they mean by it in French). This kind of book, you can write one page or a hundred. I was optimistic in hoping that a sincere element would come from what I was writing. Such pretentiousness I had. I may be pretentious, but do I not have at least a good side? Despairing of my stinking and loudmouthed style, I still track every corners "At least one good thing, at least one". Doing so, I begin to stiffen noticeably: I became tired. Ah! A novel, it must be written only without afterthoughts. With good sentiments, we don't make good literature. How stupid I was - and may this word contain the worst of things! If we are not in an ecstatic state never will we be able to write a novel. If a word or a sentence bounce in your heart in ten different ways, it's best to break your brush and to throw it away. Whether it's about Yôzô, Hida or yet Kosuge, they have no needs anyway, we know where they are from. Would be childish, would be childish. Spontaneous, without thinking.

On that evening, the night was already late when Yôzô's older brother came to see him at the clinic. Yôzô was playing cards with Hide and Kosuge. The day before, when the brothers came for the first time, it seemed to me that all three of them were also playing. But you shouldn't think that they spend all their days with cards in hands. On the contrary, you could say that they hate playing. They only take out the cards when they are completely bored. Moreover, they avoid games where...
Don't give in to astonishment!

Better Translation

Ah, tres bon. Thanks for clearing up some of my mistakes. I'm relieved to see though that I wasn't too far off with my original transcription.

The Tsukihime anime as a standalone, without referring to the novel, is good. It's NOT comparable to the novel but it's good itself. Stop whining about your trvness.

Nope, Tsukihime 2 was actually supposed to be a game. And it wasn't fake, it was just a joke from TYPE-MOON.

Let me just spell this out for you.

People dislike the Tsukihime anime so much that they deny its existence. Now that I've said that, there is no Tsukihime anime, and if there was, I sure hope they make it good.
