C-Akiha's metagame
« on: February 12, 2013, 05:31:33 AM »
Hey there.  :nyoro:
I just started playing MB competetively a few days to go, and Akiha's always been my main character. I would like to know more about the concept of her character, her metagame, so to speak. What should Akiha be doing?
As far as I've heard and read, apparently C-Akiha revolves herself around being the kind of character that should zone her opponent out, she should always keep herself at distance since she is one of the slower types.

You combo into her command grab and then do 2A/j.2C mixups.

EDIT: Check out these:

Most of it still applies.

Also, here is the Japanese wiki.

Alright, I'll read the wiki and the other articles, thanks.  :nyoro:
Those combos are amazing- But nothing a n00bster like me would be able to pull anytime soon. I can't even air-combo yet.  :psyduck:

Also, what kind of attacks combo into grabs? I don't use them very much because they lack some range and seem to be kind of slow. There are instances where I may be able to punish a block, but it's short range doesn't allow it at times.  :slowpoke:

In general, any move can combo into throw (regular or command throws). For this char in particular, I'm not sure off the top of my head.
As far as throwing people after a blocked move, yes you do need to be in range, but they also need to be out of block stun for the throw to hit. You can't throw people out of block stun in this game.
A common tick throw set-up in point blank 2A delay throw.

Generally, you're going to be doing the standard Akiha corner combo (bunch of normals into 2C 5C 5C 2C) into 5[B] 4C 63214A. If you're midscreen, I'd recommend against it trying for it 'cause it's either hard (whiff 2A combo) or you sacrifice a lot of damage. The corner combo you can learn in half an hour. The mid screen version takes more effort. Just end in 623B instead if you want oki midscreen until you learn the basics.

If you just want to combo into grab, though, anything that leaves them in the air in front of you works. It's just that it's super easy to buffer 63214 during 4C. You can technically 2A 2C 5A 63214A universally, but it's dumb and does no damage.
