Certain button combinations not working on keyboard
« on: June 14, 2011, 09:40:24 AM »
On my keyboard at home, i can't do 1C. :psyduck:

Nothing happens if i hold down-left and press C. It works fine with A and B, and it also works if i switch keyboard, but my other keyboard has sloppy keys unsuited for fighters.

Anyone else experienced something like this? I'd rather not buy another keyboard over something stupid like this.

You could try remapping your c-attack.

I'm not completely sure, but I believe that on some keyboards they're some combinations of buttons that aren't recognized as soon as you start hitting 3 buttons together.

If this is the case, try relocating your C button and see if it works

Remapping does work, but using another key as C is something my brain can't handle.

Seems the only option is to get another new keyboard.
Know of any keyboards that are particularly good for fighters?

You should try to get a keyboard that doesnt jam when pressing 3 buttons simultaneously. Also I think keyboards that register a command when you push down the button(rather than releasing) would be good for fighting games.

Well yeah, that's one of the the minimum requirements.

I've never tried a keyboard that registers the command upon release rather than press.

I was thinking a keyboard with flatter buttons might help a little with faster execution, and someone mentioned somewhere that you could replace the rubber things under the buttons with metal thingies for a better result, i think.
I'm not sure about how that works, which is why I'd appreciate it if some sort of specialist could fill me in.

Forget about that crap and just buy Razer Lycosa:

Its about 70 dollars but it looks cool and if you lie your mother that the cost is just 20$ she will tell you that its worth it.

It's got fancy lights and an extended front, which are both bad in my opinion. Worst of all though is that it has its own drivers, which makes it incompatible with my PS3 keyboard-controller converter.

I'd prefer it if i could customize a classic keyboard or just find one that is nice by default, without any fancy modern functions.

You need a keyboard with Anti-Ghosting features.

The problem arises because keyboards use an X/Y Axis Grid for their keys. This means that if you hold S, C and X, the third key will get cockblocked because the other two keys are already using up the X and Y axis. S and C both use up an axis that X needs, so it gets ghosted.

That site was helpful.

When holding HG, C is the only other button i can't press.
When holding WE, X is the only other button i can't press.

I'm a minimalist. Glow is poison for my mind.

I can find no peace as long as there is embellishment on my computer parts.
