Question about Online Play
« on: April 09, 2010, 11:00:59 PM »
(Wow at this being my first post. I signed up and instantly needed to ask my question. Hello Community! xD)

So I 100% LEGALLY AQUIRED Melty Blood: AC today and it's been going great. Love the game. C:
And I heard from a friend that it could be played online so I read up about it.

I found: http://forums.mirrormoon.org/viewtopic.php?t=1948
And read through every step and did them.

Except had to stop at Hamachi.

I cannot install Hamachi due to no Admin priveleges. (My Father said he'd think about installing it for me.)
But what I'd heard on the matter is installing Hamachi and anything of the sort is very unsafe? (I'm a child here, bear with me.)
Skipping most of the blahblahblah.

I was wondering if it was possible to play Melty Blood online still without having to use those "unsafe" thingymajiggers. If so, HALLLPPP.

If this has already been QA'd then I apologize. D':

You all dled mbac way back when shut up.

Anyways I dont know how many people netplay MBAC nowadays but hamachi is pretty safe, but I think most people use MBcaster to netplay MB. depends on where you go i guess.

This pretty much. And I still play MBAC even though I'm learning AA so whatever :V

Anyways, you don't need Hamachi at all, that's an optional thing that people use if they cannot host or just for matchmaking iirc. All you need to play online is MBCaster, and there should already be links here to get that. The only problem you may have is that you won't be able to host a game if you cannot forward your ports.

No, that does not mean you cannot play. You actually can play just fine. Just know that if the person you want to play with cannot host, either one of you will have to forward your ports, or you will have to use the relay option.

tl;dr you can still play online just so long as you set up MBCaster right. Hamachi is highly optional (and not favored usually because it adds lag but I guess this opinion varies?)
Current Main: H-Sion
Alt: H-Kohaku
Planning on switching to H/C-Kohaku soon.

Hamachi is ass; just don't use it.

MB:AC is also deprecated now but there isn't much you can do about that.

Loli, let's do something about this guy...
Technically, making the statement about how you downloaded the game is not against the site rules.

However, one should not be dumb enough to openly discuss it here, and asking how to or where to pirate it (or anything, really) is against the site's rules.

I only gave him a warning and a pm explaining.  It'll be gone before he knows it and I trust he will be more knowledgeable on the rules from here on out.
