Melty Stardards?
« on: December 02, 2012, 03:41:08 PM »
Looking for a new laptop for Christmas, and being as low tech savvy as I possibly can be, I don't know if the laptop I'm looking at will have problems running it decently. I'd love some help or any recommendations if you guys wanna go the extra mile.

2.4 GHz Core i3-2370M
4 GB DDR3 (Probably gonna upgrade it to 8GB too)
500 GB SATA
Intel HD Graphics 3000
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

I did my research and I hear that the Intel HD 3000 isn't the best, but I'm not really looking for high-end woah check it out Battlefield, just something that'll play this and things like Ougon and VNs without too much trouble. Would this be okay?

Also, if this isn't the type of question that belongs here, feel free to remove, lock, etc. I appreciate any help, thanks!

(Oh and, I lurk this place a lot and just made an account, hi.)
Cross-ups for days.

Anything that's reasonably up to date should be able to run Melty and Visual Novels. Neither are really that resource intensive. That said, I prefer nVidia graphics cards, but I think that's a matter of personal preference.

I use this site to buy mine: http://www.ibuypower.com/ and I haven't had an issue with them yet.

The better the better, get the best you can so you can also stream, record, do other things all on the same time if you want. My PC is quad-core 4gb ram and I can't stream because it lags. Also fraps slowdowns sometimes, it's annoying. You get rid of all these problems getting a little better PC. I'd recommend a mobo that would support 16gb ram, I don't know which is the best to buy where you live though. Also i7 is far better then i5 and i3. Windows 7 ultimate is also better then home premium for a lot of reasons I don't remember, if you can get it for the same price, go for it. This video board is really basic, you'll be able to run Melty Blood with it, but I don't know about other stuff.

Melty Blood mininum requirements are:

OS Win XP, sp.3 or newer
CPU Celeron 2.0 GHz or better
1.5 GB ram memory or more
256 video ram memory or more, compatibility with direct3d and pixel shader 3.0
3 GB free space on hard disk
DirectX 9.0 or newer
A little bit of console ain't too bad.

I don't know about now, but ibuypower used to be the standard of low quality and overpriced stuff. I recommend buying laptops from xoticpc. Sager/Clevos are the best~ Also, Melty is weird with system requirements. My netbook runs it fine, but my old i3 GT335M laptop lags horribly.

The one you are looking at should be able to run MB. If you get 60 fps, but notice input lag, it's prolly the laptop screen. You can fix that by hooking it up to an external monitor. Use the Evo standard Asus one.

I don't know, their prices looked reasonable to me and I've never had issues. But I do remember seeing a few bad reviews about bad quality.

Basically, if it works from the beginning, you're set.

That's because FRAPS is a horrible bloated piece of ass.
