[Solved] Windows 7 MBAC Display
« on: October 24, 2010, 09:33:51 AM »
Hello. My new computer seems to be having problems loading various text and effects on Melty Blood Act Cadenza  :(
When I start up, the sound and everything looks fine. But, when I get to character selection, I notice that the "random" character button is missing. Also, the red animation thing circling the time limit isn't there. When I start playing, the large text that says "Round _" and "Fight" aren't there. When a character gets hit, there aren't any hit effects (the slashes upon getting hit), no heat startup effect, and no character on fire/ice effect.

I'm sure that all my video drivers are up to date. I have Direct X 11. ATI Radeon HD 5730 graphics card. 4 gb ram. Windows 7 build 7600. My computer specs should be fine because my other crappy cpu could handle mbac.

MBAC version 1.03b

Help please.

I think this goes without saying, but you can right click on the mbac exe and run it in windows XP SP2 Compatibility mode.

There is a similar problem in EFZ with discoloration and lack of special effects.  resume normal windows functions.  This effect is also much easier obtained (without having to do any sort of explorer closing) with a windower.

Try both of these out.  Also let us know what video card you have; maybe there is a mo This is caused by the explorer shell.  Quite simply you can CTRL + ALT + DEL and end explorer.exe before opening MBAC.exe (or whatever the executor for MB is).  Than in the CTRL ALT DEL menu you can open mbac.exe in the run tab (you may have to look for it or know the path beforehand).  After you're done playing you can open the run menu without any path and start explorer.exe again tore hardware-related issue.  Sometimes the default settings on a graphics card are just a little too high-standard for good 'ol MB.

Still not working...
I have tried starting in compatibility for Windows XP sp2, but it crashes before it starts up. Same for other compatibility stuff.

When I tried running without explorer.exe running, it still lacked all the special effects.

But I haven't tried a windower yet. What is it and where can I get one?

I think he meant windowed mode. You can set it on the config menu before MBAC starts.

My mbac is set to windowed mode already. Besides, when I try it with compatibility mode for XP sp2, the config menu crashes before it even loads.

Have you changed the graphics settings in your Cataclyst Control Center? If yes, reset them to the option which says "Let applications handle these" (I don't recall the exact wording).

This fixed some issues with MBAC on my pc, including the missing particle effects.

I'm sorry, but I can't seem to find the option you're pointing to (or any other option at all).
I can't seem to find any graphics settings anywhere on my Catalyst Control Center.

Could you specify a tab or something?

Try updating your CCC, and drivers.

You'll find these options within the 3D tab. Deactivate "Use custom settings" everywhere, if they are activated.

Nope, still doesn't fix mbac.

My CCC UI looks very different from yours. It says that all my drivers, and CCC, are up to date, but I really don't think so. I've tried updating....not working. Then I tried uninstalling, then reinstalling... can't even get display driver to install.

So now I system restored and got my driver back...

Still have any possible solutions?

EDIT: Wow... I got it working. It turns out the iZ3D control center was messing with its 3D settings.
Thanks guys for trying to help. I really appreciate it
