PCSX2 0.9.6 - Commandline?
« on: June 09, 2010, 09:59:26 PM »
I'm trying to set up PCSX2 to run commandline, but it basically ignores everything, specifying an iso, -bootmode commands, anything I throw at it.  I know 0.9.7 doesn't have commandline, but does anyone else have 0.9.6 and could try this out?

Why in god's name would you want to take a moderately complex emulator like PCSX2 and make it even more complex by running it commandline?

Because Hyperspin Frontend can pass the parameters through commandline to load whichever game I choose, thus making PCSX2 a reasonable inclusion in my MAME cab.

...With all due respect, nothing short of a top-notch PC today, running a Core i7, is going to run most 3D games fullspeed. Stuff like Melty is pretty easy because Melty hardly taxes the emulator.

There's also the fact 096 is woefully inferior.

Just sit tight and be patient. As of r3197, work is beginning on getting commandline stuff to work.

DP, commandline SHOULD work under 0.9.6, which is why I'm asking both here and on the PCSX forums.  Because a lot of people have 0.9.6, maybe someone could test it out or they may know if I'm doing something wrong.

'sit and wait' is not a solution.  Never was, and never will be.

Well, I think you might be the only person trying to run it under commandline. That's the problem. :P

Either way, pretty soon 097 will have commandline stuff. If you get it working under 096, then great, but you probably won't be using it for too long.

Just a heads-up more than anything else, really.

And a bit over a week later, here we are with partial commandline support. Not complete (yet) but it should be enough to do MOST things.

Quote from: Jake Stine
Cmdline: --nogui, --cdvd, --nodisc, --fullboot, and IsoFile implemented parameters implemented.
Example:

pcsx2 someIso.iso (boots game)
pcsx2 --nogui someIso.iso (boots game without the pcsx2 std interface)
pcsx2 --nogui --nodisc (boots into the bios system menu)

... more coming soon!

Get it right'chere.

Yeah. It's not fully complete yet, as I said, but you'll get another compile whenever they add more.

Be advised, if you're planning on having Melty run in attract mode, for now you'll need to enable the EE Timing Hack gamefix and this means (at least for now) going into the full-on menu to set it as --gamefixes is currently not implemented; otherwise, the game will lock up after it plays a video unless the video is skipped before it finishes. (They broke this during a fix for other problems - such is the nature of the beast when it comes to emulation.)

I've informed the devs about it and I've submitted stuff so one can work on a fix, but it might still be some time, as that dev was just about to move as I sent him the stuff.

UI / Cmdline:
* Fullscreen mode should be remembered/applied properly now.
* implemented --fullscreen and --windowed options
* Made the --help popup a lot prettier

Get r3250 right'chere.
