Spectator problems?
« on: June 09, 2009, 04:34:22 PM »
... lol, it's been so long since I've actually posted in any place OTHER than The Toast.

Anyway, came across this problem today while spectating Mirr and my friend Alastair. MBCaster would spectate okay, but it would quit after the fight for some reason.

Given that this is the first time I've ever really spectated, is this normal? If not, what could be the problem? :mystery:

This is possible if a desync occured. For some people the fights up to the desync repeat all the time, for others it just disconnects.

But if it always happens then it may be a misconfiguration of your Caster.

Btw this is better in the Tech Support forum. *move*

Ah yes, I have a few questions regarding spectating myself. Hope I can ask them here.

1.Does spectating cause any sort of lagg for the people playing?
2.If I am spectating while downloading something, will it cause lagg for either me or the players? I know that downloading while playing will cause lagg.

Well, my spectator problem doesn't really pop up until after fights for some reason. When the "select character/repeat/save replay" menu comes up, it'll just disconnect. Otherwise, I can spectate fine (except for that one part where it d/cs after they selected their characters and I just gave up).

What would be the proper configuration for this case?

(Also sorry for putting this on the wrong forum, I forgot about Ciel :slowpoke: )

Didn't see that one.

1. If you have a bad connection (like me) there is a good chance that the game will lag for both players.
2. Don't know. Propably.

Also, for Pikachu_Fragger I'm out of ideas. This is either a problem on your or the hosting person's side. Timeouts may happen even if you successfully connect.

One more question if I may.

Does spectating sap my download speed? Like if I am downloading something at 40kb/s which is my normal speed (sad, I know...), when I spectate, will that speed drop? Same thing for streaming videos and the like; will the speed of streaming slow down?

Out of respect for the players, you shouldn't be downloading/uploading while spectating at all.  It will most likely lag their match.

But to answer the question, I don't think spectating will affect your download speeds.

Yep, it's vice-versa. The data sent and received by Caster is minimal and won't affect your downloads much, but downloading something while spectating (or playing) results in massive lags.
