Air Tech Punishing?
« on: June 25, 2008, 12:07:12 PM »
When do the invincibility frames end?
What would be a good way to punish it?

I just jump and do an airthrow normally, it's beyond reaction and unblockable.
But I don't time it well.

I would rather wait for them to reach the ground and conter with ground normals, which are airunblockable. Keep in mind if they airdashed, doublejumped or both before, so you can predict their behaviour after the airtech.
Or, if you play a zoning character like Nero, Hisui or Kohaku, set Traps etc.

But that's only me. I have no idea about the frame timing and if, you have to be VERY precise to punish an airtech with an airthrow. Too early, no throw. Too late, then it's you who gets punished.

Throwing or forcing them to block are probably the better options. You get a free knockdown or a potential guard break from those.

I see, thanks.
It's just that I always hitconfirm a 2c5a whiffcancel fairly often, and I don't know what to do after, and then the situation is neutral again.

I'll give those two a try and post back later on this. Another one I thought of was running behind them so that they airtech into you, and you get some hits off the ground.
I'll test it first.

What exactly are you hitting them with that's causing them to be able to tech? Consider that if you hit confirm in air you should be able to follow up with a combo -> throw (or CH follow up). In my book a setup that leads to an air tech (generally a dropped combo) signifies a match reset and should be treated as such.
