: [WIP] Melty Blood Actress Again Directory of General System Mechanics.

Work in progress, I want people to input stuff too, I'm not a wizard at the game's mechanics but some kind of change has to happen.

Stick notation:

7 8 9         8 being up, 5 being neutral, 2 being crouch.
4 5 6         Notation will assume you are on player 1 side.
1 2 3

Button layout:
A B C
D   Q

A= Light attack
B= Medium attack
C=Hard Attack
D=Shield
Q=Quick action

Quick Action inputs:

Crescent:
5q = heat
2q = dodge
4/6q = throw
jump 2q = air dodge

Half:
2q = dodge
4/6q = throw
jump 2q = air dodge

Full:
5q = meter charge
4/6q = throw
5q in max mode = heat

Universal button combinations:
A+D: Throw
2A+B: Dodge (Crescent and Half only, able to do in air)
A+B+C: Heat (Crescent and Full only)

Meter options:
Crescent:
Meter maxes out at 300%, and will automatically go into MAX mode
Can do EX moves at 100% or greater
Can heat at 100% or greater
In MAX mode, you can BLOOD HEAT (explained below)
Canceling an aerial normal with an air dodge costs 50% meter

Half:
Meter maxes out at 200%, and will automatically go into HEAT mode
In HEAT mode, you will automatically BURST when hit
Can not go into BLOOD HEAT
Canceling an aerial normal with an air dodge costs 50% meter

Full:
Meter maxes out at 300%, and will automatically go into MAX mode
Can not go into HEAT mode normally unless you INITIATIVE HEAT a move at MAX
Can go into BLOOD HEAT mode when in MAX mode
Can do EX moves at 100% or greater
Can charge meter

HEAT mode regenerates life and gives you access to ARC DRIVES which are the game's supers
BLOOD HEAT mode regenerates life, and give you access to ANOTHER ARC DRIVES and LAST ARCS which are stronger, more powerful supers.
MAX mode give you access to ARC DRIVES.

All 3 of these modes allow you to burst on the ground or in the air.

Surprised you didn't put the quick action inputs in.
2Q = 2A+B
6Q = 6A+D
5Q = A+B+C
j.2Q = j.2A+B
j.6Q = j.6A+D
j.5Q = j.C (I think)

6Q = 6A+D
5Q = A+B+C
j.2Q = j.2A+B
j.6Q = j.6A+D
j.5Q = j.C (I think)

I guess they aren't entirely up there because they're sorta unnecessary? And isn't j.5Q still just j.A+B+C (even though the a and b obviously get ignored going from neutral, but it does activate Circuit Spark, no?)?

Also, under each moon's Quick Action inputs, why is it 5d, 2d, etc.? Shouldn't it be Q (or E if you're super picky), not d? Just curious/picky/whatever.

And silly question, but, you can circuit spark in (Blood) Heat? I mean, sure that's the case in Half, but I dont remember being able to in other moons... (Though I guess I'll check up on that after my class today, sorry if this is unnecessary).

I did put it in. I broke them down in moons to what they did.

You also listed them all as using the D button, which you might want to change lol.

Oops, fixed.

Let's see... what can I pitch in that's not already sitting in its own topic on this board...
HEAT mode regenerates life and gives you access to ARC DRIVES which are the game's supers
BLOOD HEAT mode regenerates life, and give you access to ANOTHER ARC DRIVES and LAST ARCS which are stronger, more powerful supers.
...

All 3 of these modes allow you to burst on the ground or in the air.
Only in MAX mode and Half Moon's HEAT, can you Circuit Spark.  HEAT and BLOOD HEAT will also reset "Guard Quality" back to 100% instantaneously (Throw Breaking will also do this).
F-Moon's Circuit Charging also gradually re-establishes "Guard Quality" back to 100%.
Guard Gauge refills automatically after getting hit (damaging) or after 7 seconds after blocking.  Guard Break lasts for around 1"20 seconds.

Very basic and probably not worth mentioning but it's not in every fighting game:
When falling after 8 (vertical jump), 4 or 6 will influence your falling direction correspondingly.

C/F-Moon's Shield can be held for 65 frames (roughly 1 second).  Shielding is free for the first 5 frames held but will start consuming meter until the 65th frame.
C-Moon's Shield will consume a max of 12.0% after 1 second, F-Moon's Shield will consume a max of 22.5% after 1 second.
Rates are then roughly 0.20% per frame for C, and roughly 0.38% per frame for F.

I also updated my post on the Status Display option in Training Mode (http://www.meltybread.com/forums/game-engine-mechanics/training-mode-inputs-colors!/msg58746/#msg58746), although its usefulness might only last for as long as the first few moments with a character, you can now classify situations for which Instant Heat is available.

Circuit Break is a condition where the usage of (Another) Arc Drives/EX-moves is restricted, the normal Magic Circuit hidden and the displayed meter representing the time remaining until Circuit Break expires.  The afflicted character will not be brought out of MAX/HEAT/BLOOD HEAT however, and Shield can still be held given the (now hidden) Magic Circuit is greater than 0.0%.  An example to illustrate this is if a character in "Circuit Broken BLOOD HEAT" EX-Shields an attack, they will successfully activate their Last Arc.  Another example would be if a C-Moon character Circuit Broken at 100.0% holds his/her Shield once for the full 65 frames.  After recovering from being Circuit Broken, the character would be at 88.0%.

Edit: Added Throw Break's effect on Guard Quality, info on Circuit Break

You forgot to mention that you can set off the circuit spark for hmoon early @ 200% (When it still hasn't changed to the words HEAT and is still green.)

I guess I should work on this...

might be a good idea to place system mechanics pertaining to combos such as the limitations on wall and ground bounces in the game in this thread as well so that that kind of information is placed as whole in an easy to find place. i, for one, was wondering if anybody could tell me how many OTG relaunches one can perform in a single combo. it would be greatly appreciated.

Refer to this: http://www.meltybread.com/forums/game-engine-mechanics/combo-conditions/ (http://www.meltybread.com/forums/game-engine-mechanics/combo-conditions/)

But the short answer is 3, depending on what you already did in the combo. In particular, this:
There are only 3 wall slams, ground bounce, ground slam, OTG relaunch, raw airthrow, (and bound?) attacks that can be used per one valid combo.

Hope that helps.

Dunno if this is already known information but diff moons build different amounts of meter when getting hit.
C-moon builds the most meter when getting hit.
F-moon builds slightly less.
H-moon builds the least.
And the amt. they build is universal throughout the characters.
Not really too useful/gamebreaking info but interesting nonetheless.
