This is the first in hopefully a series of videos where members of the community will analyze match videos in the form of annotations or subs.  People that are new to MB can learn a lot about the gameflow and why certain decisions are being made, while even veteran players can gain insight or a second opinion.  The idea is to do something similar to Crow's annotated vids for his own Tekken matches, example here

Anyway, first vid is from the top8 of the 21st a-cho mbaa ranbat in September 2009

Tsujisosu(C-Warc) vs GO1(H-VSion), annotated by Sp00ky

Second vid is from a 3on3 exhibition tourney held at a-cho in May 2009

GO1(H-VSion), Kou(F-Miyako) vs Nakau(C-Kohaku), annotated by Pfhor

From the March 2009 Yokohama Freeplay vids

Hagi(H-Kohaku) vs Gekka(H-Hisui), Nase(H-Shiki), annotated by LordKnight

This is cool. Something like this will make watching match vids even more useful, especially those new to the game.  Toot

I understand that this is an effort to help the newcomers to the game, but it seems like it's a little too much to absorb so quickly. The reason being, is that the viewer will most likely need to pause the video each time an annotation comes up. As such, it kinda disrupts the flow of watching the match with all the constant pausing that needs to be done. And chances are, it will be very daunting for the new player (first-time viewer) because they will be unsure as to whether they should be watching the match itself, or looking out for the next annotation.

I would suggest something like this: http://www.meltybread.com/forums/akiha-vermillion/examining-a-v-akiha-match-what%27s-really-going-on-and-stuff/

I think an overview thread or having the annotations + time indexes in the description would be a little easier, so that the new player can watch the video in full with no interruptions, then refer to the specifics afterwards or in realtime as the match progresses.

Just my 2 cents.

Great idea on paper, but it was pretty overwhelming for me to try and keep up with the annotations (which sometimes covered what you were wanting to look for in the annotations themselves) AND the match itself.

Having a character specific overview thread and having the annotations + time indexes so the player can refer to any specific part of the match he wanted to would be so much more convenient.

Me and Ciel normally like celebrating at home, but Ciel's getting alone well with my cousin, Sion Eltnam Atlasia.  They fit well together.  I like having them placed next to each other to see the contrast of blue and pink hair.

I first watched it twice without annotations, then I watched it again with annotations. Trying to watch it with annotations first is too crazy. Maybe add an annotation to tell people to watch it once without annotations.

The point is to have to pause it by the way so you can see exactly what is on screen while reading it. This is usually lost when using separate 'notes'.

Karp tried it the other way, It sucked. All beginners end up doing is searching the vid over and over trying to figure out what specifically in that area of the vid you are talking about.

Hmm, I really like these annotated videos. It shows me a different view of the game that I never really thought about before as well as a different style of midscreen pressure.

sp00ky, if you intentionally want pauses to occur you could use the pause annotations feature in YT instead of regular ones.

That would actually help. The annotations aren't on long enough. This would make it hard for viewers to see the actions in the match without having to pause a lot.  Slowpoke

We actually tried doing a video with the pause annotations feature.  Most people in the channel didn't like it since it didn't allow the viewer to pause themselves, and people have very different reading speeds so it's hard to get a good pause length that satisfies everybody.

Anyway, next vid is from some old Yokohama Freeplay casuals
