MBAACC Analysis Live Streaming Sessions Redux!
« on: January 02, 2012, 04:48:04 PM »
Hey guys I'm back! For those of you who don't know, this is a program intended for newer players or players struggling on certain mechanics, match-ups, or characters. I took a break for a long time, but now I'm back and ready for action!

I will be encompassing new things like:
  • Character specialists or top players commenting on character playstyles and goals
  • More planned out streams with possible picture guides and webcams
  • Shorter episodes with fewer matches, but Q&A sessions after each match

SHOW PUT ON INDEFINITE HIATUS, WILL BE BACK FALL 2012 AT THE WORST.

This is of course, subject to change due to people's needs and my school, but I feel this is the best day at the moment. If you feel otherwise, feel free to post why and when would be better for you.

REQUESTS:

You are all free to request whichever match-up or concept is confusing for you, but it will be ultimately up to me which concepts or characters I do cover considering the players and resources that allow.

The matches I've currently scheduled are:

The matches/concepts requested currently are:
Archetype Earth and Powerd Ciel
Ryougi
F-Miyako, Fwlen
Croa [whenever someone figures him out enough]

First Episode of the redux will be an introductory episode!

It will cover how to:

  • Get netplay working and its current functions
  • Use training mode inside and out with all its functions
  • Overall short guide on Melty's moons, Meter, and Control scheme

And there will be a basic Q&A session if time allows.

great idea with the game interface episode
<Dipstick> bell would have a significant advantage in length and size
<Dipstick> but Sp00ky has a lot more experience

I'll bite.  Would love to see some analysis of Archetype Earth or Powerd Ciel against any of the Ryougi moons (although preferably half).

I played the Archetype Earth match up last night and had an incredibly difficult time against 2C >236A_236B.  Advise?

I have an episode in planning with LordKnight when he feels more and more comfortable with F-Hime

As for Hryougi, I'll try to cover her but honestly they're a lack of watchable ryougis to start with, let alone H so don't count on that too much

Fusui played a bit of H-Ryougi, you can find the footage in the H-Ryougi thread.

I'll see if I can find any more choices for you.

Technically yes, however the previous series went on a very long hiatus--- I'm back now and am making the series head in a different direction come friday

i'd love an MBAACC C-Tohno focused episode, preferably with the abject beginner in mind, but if that's too boring for you that's all right :)

by "with the beginner in mind", i mean i think it'd be better if you covered general concepts like what the character's general game plan is, how C-Tohno differs from H- and F-Tohno, the properties of his normals & specials and how you want to use them, how he fights in the air and on the ground and which one he's stronger at, etc.

the more detailed you get, the better. for example, "he's got good footsies", is less informative than "these normals are really good and because of them he's got good footsies". it's kinda like having a kid ask "but why" after everything you say... the more "this is how it is because"s you can throw in, the better!

the "problem" with being good is that you take a lot of things for granted, so it's hard to teach less experienced people

i appreciate what you're doing and i don't mind if you skip this because it's lower level stuff than you're trying to cover. no matter what character you end up doing there's a lot i can learn  :D

If you can, I would love to see a commentary on C-Roa, and how he would fare up against other characters... and his blockstrings. I still can't find a good one.

Thanks in advance.

This is just a random suggestion, but I feel like you should upload the streams that you do onto youtube.  That way, you wouldn't have to worry about saving them forever on twitch.tv.  Not to mention that youtube has a great video playback system unlike twitch.tv.

Also going through ads are sometimes annoying :<

Yeah, I actually just started uploading them to youtube using the option twitch offers. The quality isn't the best but it works.

Pretty selfish of me, I know, but could you take some matches from the Friday night FFA casuals?  They're all local matches, and while we're not as good as the Japanese players, we don't completely suck, so it would probably be a good opportunity to do some commentary on Beginner play. Also, Numakie and Arlieth are on a few of them, and they're both really good. Numa also plays quite a bit of H-Ryougi, which I saw requested earlier. (He also runs F-Ries on occasion).

FFA just got 1.07 right before New Years, it was running 1.05 before then.

i liked the ep 1 redux, it was a practical intro to the game that helps new players dive right in

curbeh's old videos are useful for their own thing, but this was way better for giving players a guideline for getting into the game. "this is how to practice combos and setups, and this is how consistent you should be to actually be playing melty blood instead of mushy bread when you fight people", rather than "this is what these buttons do"

for me it also served as sort of an introduction to the scene, i think rokunaya's a great figurehead for breathing life into the game because he's fun, friendly, and helpful, and you get the feeling the rest of the community's the same (not that that's not the case)

the only suggestion i have is to, if it's feasible, have someone monitor the chat for you and copy/paste relevant questions to you. you could remind the chat every so often to ask any questions, while someone compiles them for you, then you just check the helper's messages and answer questions from there. the point is to cut down on dead or awkward air where you ask "any questions?" and no one asks anything for a minute, or they ask what your favorite anime is (okay that was me)

there are some problems with that though... for one, you'd be trusting someone else to decide which questions are answer-worthy. also, it could kill the interactive feel of the stream where you read what people are saying, though not necessarily. you could fix both problems by referring to the list of copy/pasted questions to eliminate dead air, and while you speak you can read chat and answer or comment on things that catch your attention

yeah that's about it, the stream is great when the ball's rolling but it comes to a jarring stop when question time comes

I'm watching the fist video and really like the content.

I would like to request a tutorial for a character that you think would be easy to pick of for beginners. Maybe something like H-Nanaya or if there is another easy character that people are interested in.
