... and five times as much sleep beforehand >_>

**Edit**

Now that I'm home from work and can actually watch the match again... I am So. Fucking. Ashamed. hdphnz, we're having a better match next time I'm in Cali. And yes, there will be a next time for sure!

Either way, nice match guys.  Lookin forward to the promised double-or-nothin rematch!

i'd have to see the original file to figure out something ... though i only upload wmv's to youtube.  does the video have the boarders normaly  or is it only after you upload to youtube?  if its on the original avi just crop them off that should fix it.

if you want an example let me know.

Yeah, I'm pretty suck.

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to the doubled-up money match because my interest in MBAC is currently waning at the moment. Hopefully Choco and Leo also agree to my idea of a round robin money match. Gotta spice up the scene guys. No offense to my IF colleagues, but playing the same guys over and over is getting kinda dull, win or lose.

It's only natural. If you play the same people over and over again, there's only so much you can learn and improve on. It's usually best to play as many people as possible. But yeah is your guys' interest really starting to dwindle? That's the impression I'm getting. :-\

I don't even know where to begin with this >.< You guys need to learn your full BNBs lol. That, and neither of you are abusing satsuki's really aggressive stuff. Needs more sj/iad jc, and 2c(1hit)5a. 214a jump cancel is decent, but that isn't what makes satsuki oppressive, you just need to constantly be riding your opponent's face trying to hit a combo of a crossup jc or an empty > low. Can't stress enough how important the airthrow is at the end of your combos is though guys. Can't reset your pressure if you can't thit that shit :/

I'll MM any one from Cali at Evo :D

No Problem.

I'm not sure if you know allready or not, but if the borders are in the video normaly you can get rid of them in VDM just use the null filter and crop it then use the resize to resize it to whatever size you want and recompress  the video. As far as i know premiere doesnt do things like croping and such or atleast i do not know how to do it in premiere so VDM is the best bet just make sure your original is pretty high quality as you will be re-encoding it and if you want to go for smaller file size maybe even use some deblocking filters and such.  If you allready know all this sorry for telling you stuff you already know but if not and you have any questions ill help however i can.

you gotta give these guys some credit here.  i mean you may see some dope shit comin from japan, but this is the states, where practically everyone is a noob.  theyre tryin to get this shit down, but it doesn't come out exactly how they want to and without experience against seasoned vets, people here can only progress so fast. i think theyre doin pretty good for however long each has been playing.

I was just trying to help, it's not like I said they were hopeless or anything. I guess the best way to describe what I'm trying to say about those satsukis is that, sure, you guys are playing melty. Sure, you are getting into your combos. You aren't playing your characters though, and that's what will help you almost as much as being able to do a BnB. Then again, the only way to really learn that stuff is through sheer play. You can't learn how to pressure consistantly by watching match vids or in training mode, you can only learn that shit in the arcade(or basement, in the case of America, lolz).

tl;dr peeps: Satsuki is a rushdown character. Rush that shit down.

2c5c623b5b623c2c5c jump airthrow is the combo you should be aiming for.

Are you sure about that? I've only watched the first match and it seems like they were doing the right combos. If only they didn't drop em' so much, which I don't blame them at all for. As for the combo you listed, are you also sure about that as well? There's already discussion about that combo not being as good as the 214C wallslam one since it doesn't scale so bad like 632C.

And no offense to you, but a quite a few of your posts come off like your bash us here, it's kinda of been pissing me off lately. Honestly, I don't think anyone here needs a reality check because everyone here is on the same page. We all know how bad the scene is here and what the skill level is at, and honestly right now that can't be helped in the short run, so I don't find your constant jabs at us amusing. Just because your in Japan doesn't mean shit. Reading your posts, I doubt that you have the kind of drive or intellect to take advantage of that kind of learning environment, so I'm willing to bet that you fucking suck too, or at least enough to lose to scrubs here. I barely play this game and had human competition for it, and that's how confident I am about your skill level. Maybe I'm dead wrong about everything, but I'm willing to bet it, so how about it? Since your saying that your going to EVO world, I'm willing to money match you for $50 USD.

I do agree with Clear Sky that yeah, we DO know the right combos. But Hinta, you already know about the conditions of that match :P Especially mine. When I start a combo and don't finish it, it's because of jerky and delayed movements on my stick due to lack of sleep and head pressure. This won't come into play next time, I believe. I'm going to standardize my play surface and not play with the stick in my lap anymore. Oh, and sleep.

This match video is already old as fuck, too. Come on, Santoast... give us a raw version of the videos while you edit them to be all spiffy! I'll even host mirrors for them on my own hosting account.

And by old, I mean it doesn't show our true potential. I'm sure about this on my side, and I think hdphnz could have owned harder, too.

Hintalove:  I'm sure you were just giving out some helpful advice, but then you talk as if everyone here has been playing for years and has their characters down to a T.  i can only speak for the interface crew, but we've only been playing for a few months, so our game isn't up to par with what you're used to seeing.. you need to give the people here some slack.  like i said before, we dont have the vast resources like you do over there and we dont have that kind of competition that we can learn off of first hand.
: Re: Money Match - Choco vs hdphnz
: F9|Chibi April 27, 2007, 06:08:52 AM
I'm not exactly in agreeance with HintaLove (because he rubs me the wrong way as well), and this is personally my opinion on the matter but really now, if you guys have been playing the game for only a few months now, and you KNOW other factors are going to fuck you up during the match (lack of sleep, condition of the stick, etc) should you really be running money matches?

I'm not demeaning either of you at all in any way when I say that either, but it's a bit early for you guys to be dropping money down on the game when you haven't gotten Sacchin's BnB down yet. I could see the MM as an incentive to further enjoyment of the game / get better, yes, but turn yourselves into beasts before you start throwing money around.

That being said, Choco, you better kick HDP's ass next time.

And also <3 to Clear Sky.

I agree they're fun, but when you aren't maximizing your potential then it isn't as fun as it could be. Money matches are usually where people shine most, or even take a game seriously at all, but again I'm not aiming to put either of the players down. Can't wait to see either of them as beasts.

Sure I'll MM you at Evo, I already said I would play any Cali guy that wanted to. I don't get it though, I give my thoughts on the matches, freaking sugar coat it, and still get yelled at. What should I have said? Awesome MM dudez, keep up the good work? If you didn't want feedback, the vid shouldn't have been posted, lol.

As for the combo, who cares if there is a better one. The one I transcribed is the *easiest* acceptable bnb for her. It's kind of the combo they were going for, but wth a little randomness sprinkled around.

In any case, I find the personal attack a bit harsh. You can think what you want though, just like I'll think what I want. I'm not going to lie, I get a good lol out of the fact that Chibi can't do fiona's bnb. Posts like yours just add more lols to the pile. If theres some random scrub in Cali that wants to help with my gas money, I will be more than willing to accept the help.

: Re: Money Match - Choco vs hdphnz
: F9|Chibi April 27, 2007, 12:59:02 PM
I'm not setting a standard on anything, you've seen how I play, I drop plenty of shit, I play like roadkill, and 9/10 I'm giving my opponent (in the cases that they know better) a free win. You can record whatever you want, and you can hold whatever you want, but if you've got the confidence to run a money match, you should at least have a semblance of gameplay to back it up.

If you want me to be blunt however, then I will. At this point you guys should AT LEAST be able to air throw at the end your BnB's, or be doing something that resembles a BnB (which you are). A month is more then enough time to gain the muscle memory for such a thing, right?

I get a good lol out of the fact that Chibi can't do fiona's bnb.

Bite me. You get access to these games just being going to the damn bathroom. I have to chuck two hours out of my day just to get to AH, and even then I only get to do so every other week on a Saturday, and STILL when I get there the cabinet is swamped and I'm not able to just sit and practice the damn thing. The iad's are different then MB and GG, the speed is different, HC is different, and the last time I had the chance to practice execution in that game was the week the damn game came out.

Also why only challenge Cali people to MM's? EC gets no love?

Yeah, IAD in arcana is way off form like, anyother game. I understand if you have trouble with it, as I did for a bit too, until I figured it out. I just have to do it really deliberately and slowlike and it comes out all the time.As for me playing more than you, that is debateable. I've probably put about 500-1000en only into the game, so I really haven't played all that much, the combos are just very easy/free in my opinion, comming from games like Melty and GG.

I'll MM EC people too, I don't care. The point I was trying to make is that I am confident enough to think I could beat any one in Cali to 10 matches. I don't have the same kind of confidence with Zar/Sp00k/Vet, but I would still be up for some do-or-die stuff vs them :P I think I'm gonna be playing a lot of GG MM's though trying to get my name out though. Jam is slowly encroaching into the place in my heart for the delicous flat chest.
: Re: Money Match - Choco vs hdphnz
: F9|Chibi April 27, 2007, 01:22:44 PM
Well really the problem I have with the BnB at this point is the iad after the 5B. Some people say they iad by doing 696, others literally just do 966, but for me I just haven't gotten the hang of it yet ._.

And I can understand being weary of playing Zar / Sp00ky, but Veteru hasn't played the game for an entire year now, noone's ever seen matches of him, and only a handful of people at EVO and yourself have ever played him, so what's to worry about :P? I'd love to see if this guy's a hidden beast or not, but noone really knows about that.

yeah, but the interpreter is wierd and doesn't ned a neutral in there so if you just hit [9]6 then you should get it. I guess there is the posibility of me rolling up to 9 from 6 subconciously or something ?? I guess, but I do that, I do it in every other game too because I input it the same as my GG/MB iad, but slower.

whoa man you sound so tough with your confidence

Cali is very new to Melty Blood, its like youre challenging a baby to a fist fight

Seriously. Generally you challenge people to money matches to prove you are better than someone, but no one from Cali has ever claimed to be better than you (Hintalove), or just about anyone else for that matter. We are well aware we aren't very good. I know the criticism is to help us, but if someone had tried to help you in a game you were new to, then ended all their tips with "but seriously, I'll money match you or any of your friends!" you would probably feel insulted too.

Yeah, the bit towards Cali was because I misunderstood who Clear Sky was. When he said one of the scrubs "here" I thought he was referring to Cali, and thusly I made the previous statement. The only reason I made said statement was because Clear Sky said that random scrubs could beat me, so obviously I have to defend my self in a situation like that, right?

Any way, I have nothing against any of you guys, except for random people like Clear who love to get up in my face, and as has been said, comments were aimed at helping the satsukis involved in this whole fiasco. You guys should have a rematch though, so we can see the progress.

Hintalove, I'm not complaining about your critiques. I'm talking about things like this:

Maybe they're just banking on American AH being able to harness the broke enough to win. Oh wait, AH full is comming out and going to be played at SBO. Lol, gg America, not even Kamui can save you now.

and this:

You can't learn how to pressure consistantly by watching match vids or in training mode, you can only learn that shit in the arcade(or basement, in the case of America, lolz).

Taking potshots at our scenes doesn't really sit well with me, because it ain't our fault that the scene sucks so much, if you honestly would want to call it a scene at all. All I can say is thank god that MB got an arcade/console release, because without it the game wouldn't have had the amount of exposure and accessibility that it has, and so we wouldn't have a lot of the very little amount of players we have. Maybe if we have the crazy resources like Japan has, and if America wasn't so bloody huge, the skill level in our scene would be much more better. That is why I have a problem with you.

When I said scrubs here, I meant North American players because I don't live in Cali obviously, and anyone outside of Zar/Spooky/Vet, since that's how you seem to view how skilled you are, because playing in Japan means you can become a fighting game god overnight. I think there quite a couple of other players than them that can convincingly beat you, and I am even confident that you can even lose to the likes of me, so that's why I'm willing to bet it. Take it as an insult and personal all you want, but I really don't care.

Thanks for posting the match, I enjoyed watching even though it was a mirror match :).

Random side note: the competition in Japan is insane. I was visiting Japan when I first got addicted to the game and saw firsthand the skills of players in Club Sega Akihabara, Tokyo. They had at least 32 machines on one of the floors just by my visual memory (no I didn't think to count them at the time). I saw a few combos dropped total in an hour. I tried it and got perfect'd repeatedly XD. That said, of course those in California (that includes me) won't be able to practice anywhere remotely close the the amount of time that players in Japan get to. Practice against the computer and training mode mean nearly nothing, especially when many of us are still stuck with Re-ACT.
Hinatalove, there is nothing wrong with providing feedback on how to improve, but the way you stated it came off more like an attack on us. It felt like you didn't really take into consideration how often we even get to play other humans, and our opponents skill level.

Unfortunately, looks like I won't be able to make it to this year's Evo. Though I'm still down to MM you if you ever come back to Portland. Give me a shout if you do...
