Basically we got tired of the east coast being the only ones contributing videos to the Melty Blood scene. ;)

West Coast Casuals
Interface Arcade 3/11/07
Featuring:
Arlieth, hdphnz, juniorSantos, IPwnWitTohno, Useless Tool, and Pherai.

Uploaded on Divx Stage 6. This is high quality video. You might have to install the Divx Web player. Its a great website, please install it.

This is just the first vid to come out of the west coast. Expect more casuals and tournaments to be released in the future.

Support Melty Blood. Lets get selected for Evo by next year.

sidenotes:

- Its on Divx because Google Video wasnt working today. Im kind of happy that it wasnt because i found this site for higher quality uploads. I will upload it on Google Video and YouTube eventually.

- The raw footage of this vid is pretty much Arlieth beasting for a couple of hours. I'll upload more individual matches on YouTube.

- I know my Aoko is bad, dont make fun of me Zar  :D I havent had the chance to really play yet due to school and work.

- Feedback/suggestions on the vid would be great. Its the first I've ever released online.

enjoy

General Gameplay notes:

Mash harder, all of you. Some of you guys were barely mashing damage at all.

HDphnz:

2C 5C 623B 5B 623C 2C 5C Airdash xx airthrow.

Version B:

2C 5C 623B 5B 623C 2C 5C 214A jump xx airthrow. (take out the last 5C versus characters who loop funny).

Whenever you do 2C from long distance hold up and if it hits just iad,  since from long distance it almost never combos properly but often will hit

If you miss a 2C shield high or backdash as soon as you recover.

Add the new 214A to your game when you play on ver.b.

Those things will definately make a big difference for you.

Uslesstool:
Warc:
2ABC 5C j.B (2 hits)j.C dj.B (2 hits) j.C airthrow. Master it, it will up your damage.

Random 5C from long range (hold up and iad in it if hits) and 623A are both good in the chaos matchup. Just don't miss 5C :P.

Add some whiff cancel blockstrings to your game as well. 2AB 5A whiff into a new 5B blockstring or similar. Then you can mix back in the regular enders you are using like 214A.

Arlieth:

Load up training mode and practice 5B xx j.B. Getting this to land consistently will add so much damage to your game. You can't land it at all ranges but you can get a feel for when it works.

You have a good idea of how to abuse his whiff cancel strings. Try adding 2B 5A whiff 2B. And randomly from the ground using IAD B especially with snake backup, and using 2C as anti air when you have 421C setup to protect you.

I really liked them. I paticularly enjoyed watching the Warakia fight :V

Say where is this arcade located?

@Ipwnwittohno: After Tohno's last arc I reccomend doing:

5b (Whiff ) > Charged 5B > 5a > jb > jc > jb > jc

D:
<Graven> When you are Ciel, don't try to win, don't even try to do anything. The more you do, the stupider and bigger faggot you become because you're using Ciel.
<WyvernLord> roku is faking his disappearance so melty bread can come out and try to convince him of his value to the community

I don't usually play this poorly! Felt really awkward on console for some reason. Wasn't able to do my instant air dashes very well. Hopefully I get my home copy soon.

Btw, very nicely put together! Nice job juniorSantos

I agree the quality is sick especially for a vid hosted on a video share service.

that would be the easy approach.. but when i do the last arc, its only to be flashy.. so i gotta make it complicated with the standing a's, even though its a stupid short low kick.. totally useless

General Gameplay notes:

Does the 5B come after 2B? As in, 2A 2B(1) 5B(1) xx j.B? The other version I've used reverses that order, where it's 5B 2B 2C xx j.B to minimize my combo penalty. I don't have frame data available to me, so I don't know if 5B has better proration or hitstun (though I do know it has better speed), but I remember in the past having some trouble consistently getting 5B xx j.B timing. Therefore, when I first started out, I switched to the 2AB(3/4)C xx j.A or j.C series for consistency's sake at the cost of damage, but I don't know how much it's costing me in potential.

I haven't seen the vid yet, but against Sacchin, I traditionally avoid throwing out too many pokes after whiff cancel because of her 2.C's priority over mine. I don't know if I had to vary my strings against AkaAkihas yet. Also, B.Snake can't hit Sacchin 2.C because it literally warps her hitbox past Nero's body when she attacks(1), so I've avoided that as a general rule against Sacchin unless she's already stuck in blockstun.

As for the 2C, you're absolutely right about that. That's the one move I keep forgetting to do, though I forget whether that's because I kept getting hit out of it by Shiki's j.C kick on his way down. Thanks for the input, I appreciate it.

PS: WTF were those 5Cs? I hate MB command interpretation.

(1): on the other hand, I've had an A.Snake going the wrong way because Sacchin crossed me up, and then she got caught by A.Snake when she hit past my body with the 2.C. Go figure.

5B j.B is for when your 5B hits as anti air. if you land a hit on the ground feel free to hit confirm to whatever looks viable.

The main idea is that if you land a 5B as anti air, you want to turn that into full bnb damage rather then jsut a few hundred points + the opponent air teching.

Its funny, the vids , while edit'ed well, they really dont show true skillz/talent for most of the players in them. Even last nite 95% of the casuals were better than the vid shows.

Hey, Arly. I just wanted to let you know.

I'm building an ELITE FIGHTING FORCE. I will train them to be good enough to beat your SoCal team. Then comes east coast and/or EVO. Then comes... THE WORLD (which is Japan).

The good thing about this is that we're a day-/two-day trip from LA. About six hours or so. This means we will join in your tourneys and RanBats one of these days.

All rivalry aside... my goal is enough exposure to make it one of the sponsored games at EVO 2008. Les do eet!

cmon tom.. i know you can come up with something better than "Bring it!"  thats such a cliche...  cant you just say something like... "It would be a waste of gas for you to come down and get your ass handed to you by SoCal."  that has more umph to it...

hahaha.. jk
