It's pretty clear that there is some sort of stigma around Akiha. I think it probably originates from some where in the past before her current incarnation, but that doesn't explain why there still are no akiha players. I know the guy who introduced me to melty thinks she's the scrubbiest character in the class, and I don't really see how.

So, if you play Akiha, please post why. If you don't like her, enlighten me. And if you know the secret reason why even the Japs refuse to main her, spill the beans.

I play Akiha because hitting with 5(b) makes me happy, and tk ribbons are cheap.

I would think that the Japanese don't play her because Aka Akiha exists. If you're going to use one, might as well use the better one?

i love her j.2C. sure v.akiha has it but the way she says it is pretty hot. that and the 6C. i also just liked her more than v.akiha, don't really know why... maybe its the black hair.

I play Akiha because ... well she's cute >.> but i also play V Akiha ... whom I'm trying to main now ...be for it was Akiha .. their both cute ...

Akiha was the first char i played back when i first got MB and when i played vs my firend he used Ciel ... so i figured what the hell ... i don't know ... i cant give you any complex reasoning .. she's a great character but lacks something ... V Akiha has that something so i guess thats why V is more popular.

I play Akiha because she's hot

Also because when I first got into the game, she was one of the few characters that actually appeared in a downloadable match video(the old bell vs linalys one on combovideos), and the thought of playing a fiery girl in a seifuku was too good to resist.

Besides V. Akiha being better, I guess Japan doesn't play her because of how popular she was before? Like in early ver. A/FT days, where Akiha was considered S Tier, maybe people got used to fighting against her or something, I dunno.

I guess she just doesn't have the coolness factor like Nanaya and Ciel seem to have. Even Nero too. It's like the arcade scrub that you play that picks SA2/3 Akuma.

I play her for the eyes. Hers are the same color mine are, and that jumped out at me when I first saw her. Plus I play her well.

I play both versions, but I like Akiha Tohno better. Vermillion is the better character and all, but I don't want all of my life taken with one combo, especially when fighting high damaging characters like Kouma. His standard BnB does 50% to her WITH mashing

Plus I think regular Akiha does much more dmg than vermillion (YEA I SAID IT). Plus no one ever seems to block the j.2C fuzzy guard

I don't know...it looked a bit too light to be black to me, so that's why I thought it was brown.

LOL thats the exact same costume I used, SO HAWT!!!

I guess I am odd... I main'ed Satsuki with Akiha being a close secondary(I actually think i was better with Akiha but Satsuki was SO MUCH FUN)

Akiha Vermillion

Double airdash, fastest character in the game
6C ground overhead leads into the 623B loop from almost anywhere
ground throw regenerates life
j.C, extremely strong jump-in, corner KD and leads into OTG
30second EX flame pit
623B loop is high damage and is a safe EX pit setup
Pillars are relatively useless
Weakest defense in the game, dies in almost 2 combos

Akiha Tohno

TK j.2C, fastest overhead in the game, true 50/50 mixup
214X, air unblockable and leads to juicy combos on counter-hit
j.2C, option select/tech traps in the corner
wallslam corner combos do great damage
2C corner loop gives a ton of meter
Most defense in the game, usually takes at least 3 combos to die
Is one of the more slower characters

Conclusion
You make the decision for yourself because now I'm lazy. You've got my respect if you can play Akiha Vermillion though.
