Hisui Block Strings?
« on: June 25, 2008, 09:21:49 PM »
I don't know how to pressure with her.

For me, the only thing I know how to do is 2abc 5[c] ;_;
Can anyone provide some example blockstrings?

(It's getting increasingly clear that I really should write up that Hisui guide).

First of all drop 5[c]. Purge it from your mind right now the instant you read this. Good players will dodge it, shield it and shit on it on reaction. If you can't stop doing 2abc then stop there and whiff cancel. You can also throw a book or put down a chair if you ever push them too far away with 2c to keep going, but you may not do 5[c].

What you need to realize is that you can do more than 2abc to start a combo so you can run other strings to start your offense. 2ab 5c for example. While 2abc 5[c] sucks for blockstring, 2ab 5c 5a(whiff) 2c doesn't. It's cool. Do it.

Always try to cancel 5c on the first hit in blockstrings so it doesn't get bunkered.

2b/5b 5c 2a(whiff). From there you can do a few things:
-Dash back in and throw them. Will beat blocking.
-Dash back in and 2a. Will beat slower poke attempts.
-j.2c If they try to poke, it will ch and you get a combo.

In corners you gain more tools to work with. Most notorious of all ex-dust.
Whenever you feel you're too far to keep going on pressure you can throw ex-dust. Don't hesitate to dust, aside from hisuidoken it's about the only useful ex move Hisui gets. After ex-dust you can try a few things to get a hit in:
-iad j.c can catch people who like to block low too much.
-j.c airdash j.c works pretty well, though some people are good at blocking it.
-Empty j.[c] (start charging it a little late so you land before it comes out) 2b they always fall for that.
-Empty j.[c] throw.
-Dash in 2a 5b 2b 5c 5a(whiff) 6c catches people trying to jump out. Hold 9 and you can combo them. If they block it just back away.

I'd draw you some trees but I have enough trouble sorting this out in my own mind.

So yeah that's a few things I use. Make sure to stagger to make your tick throws more effective and keep everything random. And watch vids.

Well, I already knew most of those mixups minus the dustloop stuff, but I learned that 5[c] is really bad, thanks for saving me from a very very bad habit. x_x

This is what I got after practicing for a while.

"Dashin - 2a
1) more staggered 2a , dash in/IAD
2) 2b/5b + whiff cancel, dash in/IAD
3) 2c/5c 5a, dash in/IAD
4) dashthrow
5) 5a 5b

Dashin - 2b
1) 5A 5b/2c
2) 5b/2c/5c whiffcancel

Dashin - throw"

Now, I just need some advice.
How long do I wait before I whiff cancel (in case of hitconfirm) or do I even wait at all?

Only situation I can think of where you'd wait to see if you hit before you whiff cancel is if you end with a staggered 2C in which case just whiffcancel and get ready for oki.

A pity you can't connect her 4B into a blockstring. Mana drain would be awesome. Whiffcancel 4B is the only solution D=
