Crossup options after a throw?
« on: May 21, 2007, 10:00:00 PM »
So far, I've been trying:
- dash toward them, jump straight up.  on landing, I'll end up behind them.  or I can hold back on the descent and land in front of them.
- jump towards them, jump straight up.  depending on when I second jump, I can influence the motion of the descent.
- instant A-jetpack and land in front or behind them
- IAD so they think you're going behind them, then B-jetpack and land in front of them.  (saw this on in a game dial video)

what else can I do?

ive been working on this trick for like 2 weeks but i need more practice.

throw, jump over them and b jetpack held for a bit

depending on when u jump, when u release the pack, and how early u pressed the
pack in the first place u can land on either side.

this shyt is hard for me right now im so inconsistent with it, but with
enough practice it its really tricky to block.

Got a Kohaku&Hisui pal who's already beating my crossup game by mashing A on wakeup.  Sort of bothersome because he's a silent player, so sometimes you just can't tell if he's random mashing (what other reason would you have to mash while getting up - the person who's standing will always have frame advantage) or if he knows.

But yeah, that can be fixed by simply timing my stuff better.  However, the earlier I do it, the more obvious the crossup is.  So I gotta find the perfect moment.  Not too early, not too late... gotta keep practicing!

BEEP BEEP....

my turn...

after being discouraged for many months to play this char i finally decided to load up mb and practice those damn tk packs x n. After a miserable day of practice (i kid you not) ive finally passed basic lvl mh and moved on to intermediate...aka the gimmickssss.

throw>random mixup is definitely one of mh's strong points and is now my primary motivation to play this char (tk packs is secondary  ;D).

onward to the meka-beats:

THROW

(midscreen)

1) hold9>dj 8[7] (just be for the opponent hits the ground)[1]>late 236b[2]
[1] - at this point mh will turn while airborne and face the grounded opponent . you can dj 8[7] earlier so that you DO NOT switch sides (resulting in NOT turning around while airborne). this is an important aspect to consider when you or your opponent is placed near the corner and you want to gain advantageous positioning.

[2] - the late jet pack will push the opponent toward you. take this opportunity to tick>throw, wait>throw, tk 236b>throw (mh moves back, then quickly lands, allowing you to sneak this in), or iad j.x shenanigans (iad j[c]>throw or iad jc>dj cb mixup). As you can see, the possibilities are mindblowing  :psyduck:.

2)hold9>dj 8[7] (just be for the opponent hits the ground)[1]>late iad back j.c (using 4a+b)[3]

[3] - so now your opponent has caught on and bsteps away from late j236b...good, thats what you want. late iad back j.c will cross the opponent up, forcing them to make a split-second correction on the controls in order to execute a well-timed and proper bstep. assuming they guess that you when for jetpack, they will end up reeling into the late iad back j.c

(corner)[4]

1)jump, superjump, dash jump, etc.>late j236b[5]

[4] - ok, its not EXACTLY in the corner but leave just enough space to slip between the corner and the opponent after the jump (a few pixels).

[5] - shenanigans again. after they block the jetpack you can go for similar iad 'gimmicks' similar to above. instead you iad BACK j.c>throw6,iad back j.b (more randomness), or tk 236b throw6.

[6] - ...wow, it doesnt seem to stop. well, you MAY want to throw them AWAY from the corner in this situation so that you can setup again - this time leaving them w/ no option but to fall back into the corner (bstep or block jetpack).

...meka....MADNESSSSS

late jet pack WILL NOT work on the following chars do to their 'cheater' heights:  >:(
Len
Arc
Hisui(s)
Akiha(s)

i hope this proves useful to ALL THREE mh fans in the US  :'(.

btw- the jetpack-side-switching gimmick that you guys mentioned is hard as steel. need to practice that for added randomness.  :psyduck:

there was my ultra BS one where i do ground throw Lay VagBomb ASAP iad Bjetpack, cause if you can do it fast enough you can end up behind them at the right time if you time it just like a few frames off you won't be on the other side... this thign is so iffy i don' teven knwo which side i will be at usually :p... reason being is with Vag Bomb out opponent only has very few options if htey don't want to get Smited by the Vag Bomb!

Backdash??? denied BITCH!!! i am behind you!  >:D

...daaaayum. that setup is quite fierce  :psyduck:.

it may be weak against wakeup jump (theory) so test to see if you can ge away w/ iad>airthrow if the jump is attempted. Also when you cross over them w/ iad>236b , does it hit wakeup jumpers (or is it supposed to whiff)? Try and test w/ jumpguard set. If the cpu gets hit then you know its really solid.

...back to kohaku's lab

236B can hit peopel standing, but will whiff crouchers? also if they jump they get hit cause its a jet pack right over their head basically if you cross them up

if you do a iad TK jet pack Mech hisui does a turn around and throw sjet pack other direction , so you can do it to standing people whiff it, bomb will be gaurded and you can do other wierd mix ups :p

This match video of a Mech Hisui vs. FT's Miyako shows the Jetback crossup, for those that can't visualize it..  it's off of a combo ending in 2C though, but it should still be the same as off of a throw.

Awesome!  Thanks.  Lots of other random stuff, too... like j.C, j.C -> crossbow?!  Is that good at all?  He even ended with EX Crossbow once - but I think it was because he was in MAX and wanted to do something with it.

I was asking for a bit of Mech-HISUI advice in an Arizona thread and realized a lot of stuff I need to do to improve the Mech-HISUI game.  If you want to see the thread, check the post on july 8th:

Yeah, I haven't been able to copy that j.C j.C crossbow.  my timing sucks... and since it doesn't look like it's that good, I'm just gonna give up on that for now.

still unsure if I'm gonna use EX crossbow for an air combo ender.  I forgot how it works, but it's something like... if they don't tech, it hits them.  if they air recover, they'll air block the EX crossbow and then you can b-whip and catch them on landing.  but if they tech, ex crossbow whiffs.  it was something like that, I tested it a bit ago and it felt gimmicky... something that would only work on people who air recover on impulse, seeing that EX crossbow.  but I could be wrong, I'll have to test that out again later

Ex Crossup for air finish is gimmicky and reason it wont work is, usually people will end the combo with air throw, 2ndly, if you did EX crossup the flash itself would give them enough time to already think of what to do, so they can time a tech and just let the whole attack whiff, 2ndly, you then will have to wait till you land to recover from the EX cross bow, its not like you gain a free jump after you did EX cross bow, ur in crossbow recovery animation for the whole duration till you land. and there is always the option of shielding

got a question here about mech hisui's C atks.....

whenever i use my C atks i end up breaking the chain of combos.... so i have to tap it really light?

and A jetpack sure makes the wake up counter more effective and just so i need more info after wake up can i use B missiles on wake up or Back+b i don't quite get which one should i use since i often use the flamethrower on the air..... so which one sould i use?

depends where ur character is standing..

5C is a chargable move, so it is only smart not to push and hold down the button when doing it in a combo   :V

well thats true but sometimes it happens but i can still execute the chain anyway it just stops my combo

is 5c advisable to use when your enemy tries to jump over you... since i saw the AI use it mostly when i jump over it..

depends, cause, you got to think, are you for sure gona hit theM? if you can't, then ur just gona get hit when you whiff that move... the move is pretty good cause it actually can hit somewhat behidn her for anti air purposes, but you got to beware of the recovery if you hit and dont whiff cancel properly or follow up a combo...

The funny thing is, I was practicing this, before I found this thread.
