I've been watching some videos of Nanaya players and aside from the higher damage BnB they also go into launcher > 623c > air combo.

Now I might be missing something important, but is there a point to this? It seems like it nets less damage and uses up meter compared to if you did a regular BnB. The timing of the 2a 5b relaunch is also much more unforgiving than the 2c 5b launch for the higher damage BnB.

No, comboing off 623C does more damage than his standard BnB. However you have the option of letting them drop and get a better oki game. It generally depends on the opponent and their character.

And let's face it, what else is Nanaya going to use his meter for?
