well the AD makes you invincible so making the enemy whiff an attack by activating your AD is a good strategy.

ie. nero goes for a 4C but nanaya goes into an arc drive so nero whiffs and is stuck in recovery frames and has no choice but to eat your arc drive.

it's okay.. but you shouldn't be using at all.. maybe very sparingly..... shit gives you invinciblity at the start so... so you could use as a dp... or psyhic dp (wow ST terms woot!!) and destroy them... but if people start baiting it like they do with normal dps then... your just fucked...
Basically... kind of a big deal....

You can combo into his AD off of 5BB.

Usually isn't worth doing, but it's worth noting in the instance you did a sequence into 5BB while having already burned your jump cancel.

You can use it as a panic button of sorts after you see an EX flash. It has three frames of pre-flash startup and after that, he's invincible.

Using it on offense though is just bad, though. It can be cleanly avoided with a backdash or a dodge. Save the meter for (blood) heat and/or 623C combos.

From my personal experience, and although I get owned a lot on netplay, so perhaps its not my position to say, but Shiki's AAD is widely feared. Everyone seems the know if they touch you, they're dead, so they back off as much as possible. If you time it right, in a lot of cases, they have no choice but to eat your 5000 dmg, and people don't try to spam A upon finish of the AAD if you miss, because its way to risky to get close to 7ya during his AAD, and they're usually on the other side of the screen if the AAD dis miss.

Also, while the AAD is going, and it definitely looks like its going to miss, plan ahead. Are you gonna defend right after it misses? Go for a quick grab perhaps? Stuff like that could be planned.

But if it is inevitable that you'll hit them, they're STILL one way they can get out...

If they go heat just as you touch them with AAD, they're saved, although the animation for a hit continues.

I've found that when people block Shiki's 236A or 236B on the ground, most of the time they tend to try and counter immediately after; that's a prime time to use either the AD or the AAD, since it makes you invincible to their attack and is guaranteed to raep 'em during their whiff.

You could use AAD as antiair sometimes. But AAD you shouldn't really use. If it misses, nanaya's recovery gets longer.

Only time I have ever found it useful against someone who knows how to dodge is when Warc is being bitchy and doing her EX blood rings on you in the corner (chipp damage galore!). If you're in heat, an AD on reaction will give you a nice punish on that.

It's very situational, but landing the AAD off an air counterhit will give you more damage than you could ever hope to normally get off the CH.

Maybe you can use AAD when the opponent can no longer use air dash. ???

There's a huge difference between Shiki's AAD and Nanaya's AAD.

Shiki's comes out absurdly fast and is really good. Nanaya's is much slower, to the point where it's nearly useless.

Yeah. I know that. But nanaya's AAD has longer range but it is slow. And I think Shiki's AAD is blockable(from the PS2 version)

Of course, think that'd be a good idea, but you'd have to time it so they don't get an opportunity to dodge it.

i was thinking of using it if the opponent techs into a corner... not sure if they can dodge it in time though.  :mystery:

ahahaha... Sorry about that. I haven't thought about it at the time. Back to the topic, I think its best to use Nanaya's AAD as a counter instead. ???

Another good time to use it: Right after a blockstring. Most people will be usually waiting for you to finish your string to either counter or get out of the way, and if your timing is accurate enough, you'll nail them and they won't have a chance to do either. :)

Unno, I'd have to argue with that. 7ya's AD/AAD is very slow, and a really good player will either block/dodge out of it. But, I do see what you're saying, it'd work with AAD, but the AD, not so much.

And people will tend to avoid you if Nanaya's in blood heat, they know what could be coming, so perhaps its just better to go for a good BnB instead?

Point taken about the AD, but if Nanaya's AAD is unblockable like Shiki's (haven't checked lately), then the opportunities run high to pull it off after a blockstring, or as an aerial counter (supposing you get your distance and timing right).

Fair enough, though you can also do what I do and bluff every now and then, wasting the Blood Heat in EX moves or trying to do a Last Arc. :P Keeping it varied keeps the opponent guessing. :)
