I'm not sure if this is new or not, but a friend of mine that plays the game alot didn't know about it. I was playing for the first time and found out that a charged 236A has auto-guard attached to the final frames. Don't know the exact timing, but it threw my opponent off.

Actually, all of Ren's ice moves have a clash frame as far as I can remember. The problem is the clash frame is located at the very base of the blade where her hand is, and if your opponent is close enough to clash a move with that hitbox, you're not doing it right.

It should be clarified that the "auto guard" you're referring to referred to as "clash frames" in Melty Blood. Check the following link for more information!
