haha, i just found that vid not more than two hours ago. makes me wanna learn miyako
-
That's pretty weird. I could of swore that there was a thread about this already, but where'd it go? :mystery:
-
Yeah, it seems all the other threads here got deleted...what's up with that T_T It's hard enough to find good Miyako information without all of our threads vanishing
:mystery:
-
Even I don't know what happened to the vid thread. :psyduck:
-
I dont remember a vid thread but I think i can say i do remember more threads present in this section than just the combo + strats one.
-
I removed the video thread because noone was posting video links and I didn't know if you guys really wanted it since everyone was posting in the other thread anyway.:slowpoke:
and I removed the Miyako basics thread because it is very dated, it doesn't even cover tech punish or OTG traps. :blah:
happy to see someone brought it up again though.
-
Ah, I see. I think at least you should of kept your thread about your video tutorial. It's got some good stuff in there even though it's lacking in some areas (as you mentioned before already). How else will anyone see your hard work!
As for your other thread, I haven't seen it but it's a shame that you also deleted it. Personally I'd like to see this section of the strat forum hustling and bustling by having a lot of different threads, because there's too much information to try to jam pack into thread for one character. When I made the combo/strats thread, I planned that it was just merely going to be a template thread to use until my lazy ass or someone else tries flesh everything out completely. I think you should of left your old thread alone, even if it was outdated. Peeps here I'm sure would of been willing to help update it and make it useful if you couldn't do it yourself.

I agree, there should at least be three threads here: Combo/Strats, Video, General.

Alright, I tried to copy the first combo shown in the vid. Sadly, it doesn't work for me :(
After the 2C B 2B the enemy is tossed airborne, however is immune to damage it seems. I've managed to get one extra hit on it in he air, but nothing beyond ~6 hits :(
Anyone feel like schooling this nooby?

It was just a few days ago I started using her, she's great. Thanks for the video, really picked up from it.

Not getting past 6 hits? It might be that your jump cancel timing is off, or that your not doing j.B fast enough after your jump.

Did you try the 6B, 2B followup instead? The timing is easier, since there's no need for a delay. Plus the air combo connects if you jump cancel the 2B with 8 or 9, while the 5B, 2B version is harder to land without a forward jump cancel.
Also, the 2A, 5B, 6B, 2B, 2C, 5A, j.ABC, j.BC, AT combo later in the video is really the midscreen combo you want to land. It does more damage, and uses the same opener as her wallslam combos, which allows you to confirm the distance to the wall and adjust accordingly. The downside is that it isn't as easy to learn, but it's important to be comfortable with Miyako's 5B.6B..2B rhythm sooner or later.

Thanks for the tips. I'll try learning the harder and better combo's later on. Just trying to master the easier ones first :)
Anyway, I can manage 2C 5B 2B j.B j.B pretty consistently now. However, I don't seem to have enough height over my opponent to land the throw at the end :( Either that or I'm too slow.
It also seems like the guy in the vid makes a shorter jump than I do. I can't seem to cancel it out any earlier than I'm doing right now.
-
It's just instant motions with no space in between. When you do the 2C,5B,2B jump cancel immediately. The more you practice it, the better your timing will be. Also it's jB,jC, the second jump should be 9 then instant jB,jC,Airthrow. I just think your timing might be a little off, since Miyako is a little faster with her combos than other characters.

you might have figured this out already - but from what i've experienced, delaying your 5b by just a little bit after the 2c makes it harder to complete the air combo (because the opponent launches off the ground little after the 2c). on the other hand, you can also delay it so the 5b connects right before the opponent touches the ground - the guy from that video does this i think - to make the air combo easier to land.
if you substitute 6b with 5b, you won't have to worry about all that delay stuff, but you have to make sure you input the 6b right after the 2c connects, or else it'll OTG. there's also a risk of doing an accidental 236b (the input should be 2c56b so this won't happen). pick your poison, i guess :psyduck:
-
For the airthrow, you just might not be doing it fast enough. Usually, you want to do the airthrow quickly after your last attack, but ultimately it's depended upon your height relative to your opponents. I'd like to think the sweet spot is if your opp is a bit above you or a bit aligned to your center, but don't quote me on that since a lot of Miyako's combos I can just do by intuition.

So, does all of those combos work in Version B.?
Its just in the past, some of the videos posted there, the system seemed to have chaged up a bit, making some of the previous combos, N/A anymore.
-
No.
-
No.
Which ones? :o
-
Uh my mistake, I meant, no, all of them work. The version the author used is version B PC...
-
