: Kubo's secret SBO technique: Sion Cutting Synch advanced resets.

Although we only got to see 2 of his matches, we can see the technique he saved for the tournament specifically, which are several new variations of Sion resets that lead to high damage opportunities.

It looks like the secret to this technique involves using the basic cutting synch loop into 5[C] 214B. From here you have multiple options that can allow you to reset the combo damage, go into heat activation, or just finish the combo.

The 'trigger' is 5B. Here are the options Kubo uses, as well as what I have mapped as the full set of techniques I believe he was prepared to use.

1:15: 5[C] 214B 5B 2B 5C(1hit)5A (combo is now reset) 2C 421A. In this case the 2C was successfully blocked but gave Kubo an easy sudden throw setup for the win. On hit the 2C 421A leads into the double otg combo, or otg into TK j.214C for easy 3k damage.

2:09: 5[C] 214B 5B 2B 5C 214A immediate heat activate. This is actually an old setup, but worth noting here because it is probably what gave him the ideas for the other options.

9:35 5[C] 214B 5B (in between here the combo is now reset) 6B 2B 3B xx 421C. This is a variation of an older setup modified for his new 'cutting synch reset' theme.

Here is what looks like the full set of options Kubo was prepared to use.

5[C] 214B 5B2B5C (one hit) 6B 3B 421C
5[C] 214B 5B2B5C (one hit) 5A 2C 421A
5[C] 214B 5B2B5C (one hit) 5A Dash up throw
5[C] 214B 5B2B5C (one hit) 214A heat activate

5[C] 214B 5B 6B 2B 3C 421C
5[C] 214B 5B 5A 2C 421A
5[C] 214B 5B 5A Dash 2A
5[C] 214B 5B 5A Dash up Throw

Note that there is another (implied) damage increase once your opponent is aware of these:

He will stop mashing damage after 5[C] 214B because he wants to watch your setup closer and does not want to accidentally get himself counter hit.

I never thought about it beyond the 5a 2c 421a throw setup.  Nice comprehensive analysis of it Spooky.  Though I could never have enough thought processes going on to do more than one or two of those setups.   :psyduck:

Unless he mashes with D (which I can't say I know works for arcade, but it works for PC).

I have to go with mashing with D in this situation being a bad call as well. You might get a lucky shield but you're even more likely to put yourself in a situation where you get a random shield and get your recovery punished.

Here's a video with some of the setups left intact for you to analyze.

i'm having trouble landing the 214b after the a,air whiff ,[5]..

If you're invaliding means you're timing it too late. If the 214B is whiffing it means you hit it too early. They should just be around her neck level when 5[C] connects. They're different timings depending on which followup you want after the 421C j.A/B whiff. 6 > 421B requires a slightly higher height than 214B.

ok so when i hit [c]  the opponet has to around my neck  to hit? ...eveyrtiem i try i keep getting invalid when i hit [c]...do i have to do anything after my whiff cancel.. i seem to jsut whiff a, drop right below and pretty much land close to the opponet..am i to close? and then of course not landing the 214b after

Mm I think you're reading it kind of wrong because of my ambigous phrasing. The opponent should be landing into your 5[C]s active frames at around your neck level. Meaning, you should already be charging beforehand, but they should be landing into your 5[C] at that height. You'll notice 5[C] hits different heights if you charge it RIGHT when you land and if you delay it ever so slightly.

I doubt something that was streamed over the internet publically and for FREE is illegal to upload on youtube.  BV's account was banned because his friend uploaded a South Park clip on it. :|  If you have a nico video account, look for it on there.

Ok I'm a new poster but why can I not cancel out of 3B with 421C? Whenever I try it they can cancel out of their fall before I can move again. It seems like the only thing that cancels out of my 3B is a jump.

: Irovax December 20, 2007, 10:34:49 PM
You need to whiff cancel a move when falling from a 421C. Press a button to do an attack that won't hit the enemy, and you'll be able to move freely after an EX Kick.

No I know you have to whiff to cancel out of 421C, but I can't cancel the launcher INTO 421C. I'll volleyball launch, then have to wait a second before I can do the Cutting Sync, which lets them tech.

You should have no delay when executing 421C after 3B. If you have more than even a slight delay, you are inputting it too slow. Post a replay if you still can't figure it out.
