Bad days
« on: August 22, 2008, 04:36:35 PM »
Yeah I was doing alright until Touhou 11 came out, then I didn't touch MB for a week and now I started playing again... and it's just been bad. It's not so much my execution even, but stuff is just going wrong everywhere. My shields are always timed badly, it seems my attacks always come short or have too low priority, I can't get out of the corner, when I do get counterhits I can't follow up, and so on like that. Also it seems like I can't even find an answer to someone constantly double jumping over my head (no not crossups). Nothing I do seems to hit them and it feels like all I can do is keep blocking till I screw up. Anyone else had this experience?

I assume this is a corner situation.
1. Chicken Block > Air Throw
2. Walk forward and let him land behind you if IAD. Just a little bit.
3. Dash forward wait right behind him after the 2nd jump. If he uses up his IAD, he is screwed for sure. Careful with Len since her j2C can hit backwards.
4. Super Jump out.
5. Wait until he runs out dash and jumps. EX/Shield/Dodge/Heat/2A/5A
6. Block low at the last minute so his JC whiffs (Fuzzy Guard).

Touhou 11? With shields... and counterhits?

Does not compute. *brain explodes*

Reading comprehension is a strong skill to have.

He said that after a week of not playing MB (due to mainly playing Touhou 11) he now sucks and hates life.

Don't worry Ultima.  You were most likely just having a bad day.  A single week without playing can't damage your skills much.

I get better when I don't play.  My practice sessions consist of listening to game music and thinking up setups that would only work on me.

I usually need a few days to cool down or some time between games and practice sessions to be at my best. But my worst days are yet to come.

I'm usually up at 4 A.M, doing the same  Nanaya BNBs and blockstrings  on a training dummy asking why none of what I practice seems to go as well as I hoped in a match.  After that I take my stick apart and obsess over what else I could in my next tourney . Its my nightly ritual, like soldiers who take their rifles apart and reassemble them to try and keep sane.

everyone has bad days as well as bad fights, but i know I learn through every fight I go into. Every match  is like a dogfight to me so I play my best and I feel good even if i lose here and there. :V :prinny: :V

I think what I constitute as a bad day/match is one where I don't learn though.  Like I continually am getting punished for doing the same shit, yet can't shake myself from doing it.  =\  Winning or losing doesn't really matter as much to me these days.

I know what you guys mean, when stuff just isn't working... at all. I think its best to just give it a rest when you see these coming your way lol.

No need to rage of stuff like a bad day lol.

WTB said reading comprehension.

Seriously though, I have a bad habit of briefly scanning through posts without reading between the lines. <_<

Really? I thought it was called being rusty. It's what happens when you don't play for a while then start playing again.

QFT. I was just rusty today because I haven't played in about 4 days. I lost to a dayum n00b and I felt like going into my emo corner.  :emo: But I picked it back and continued to be pwnsome after a few warm-ups and such. Either that or you could just possibly suck at the game. But of course it doesn't seem like you do.  :prinny: Pick it up a lil bit. That's all.  :teach:

Same here which is why I'm not playing anymore! By the time everyone is tired of the game and moves on to other things I'll be the best and I wont have to prove it to anyone!

By the way, Are Melty Blood and Melty Bread different games?
