MBAACC Custom Music Thread
« on: January 09, 2012, 10:06:44 AM »
The current version of the tool is v1.0

Get it here
http://www.justnopoint.com/lbends/index.php?location=tools&page=&file=MBCustomMusicTool
You need at least Java Runtime Environment 6 to run it.  If you need help please refer to this article http://www.wikihow.com/Run-a-.Jar-Java-File

I've also created this sample project file to demonstrate the deploy function.
http://www.justnopoint.com/lbends/tools/RA2-Score.lbs

Please give me feedback ASAP  :emo:

Version: .01
Download: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=7EIS1JHL
Make sure you back up your original 0001.p somewhere safe, I recommend putting it in it's own folder so its easier to keep track of(aka not accidentally writing over it and being screwed)

Current list of changed music:
  • Char select
  • Egypt
  • Red Egypt
  • Kouma/Burning Forest
  • Kouma/Burnt Forest
  • Aoko/Blue Moon Grassfield
  • Roa/Cave
  • VSion/Walpurgis Night
  • Nanaya/Starlight Crossing
  • Mech-Hisui/Kohaku Garage
  • Miyako/Tohno Garden
  • Big Brass Marbles Stage/Phantom of the Opera
  • Ries?/stranger/Airport Stage

The current goal is to change the most annoying songs in the game ASAP, then go along with anything else afterwards as I find good stuff to use. Since we've got LBS's godlike music tool this time around, I've got a lot more room to put good work into these mixes. Theres a lot of extra production being put into some of these stages, so I'm hoping everyone else appreciates my choices as much as myself

Best stages in my mix ATM IMO are Cave, Burnt Kouma, and Egypt

Things to change in next release:
  • Correct loop on Nanaya stage
  • Correct volume on Mech-Hisui stage

Created an account just to tell you:  Wonderful tool, but has a habit of not actually making songs playable.  If I edit the project, the song is there, if I save it and restart and edit it again, it's still there, but it refuses to play ingame.

The sample you included did work though, and I did manage to replace one song.  Suppose I just gotta keep fiddling with it.

Updated, you now have the option of starting projects from existing .p files.

Demotivator: I could but I have no reason to.
Hal: Dimension Theory is the best track ever how dare you
MugenOverlord: You'll have to be more specific in exactly what you did.  If you're trying to replace the vs screen music it's impossible though.

TODO: Use byte comparison to determine which tracks have been modified, rather than just storing all of them.

It's simply that sometimes, it doesn't seem to "deploy" the project.  The project save correctly and everything.  There's times were it will deploy in a 1 second span, and you can tell it didn't actually patch anything.

It seems to be working better now that I've redownloaded Java though.

Oh, and occasionally playing a song and stopping it causes a small sound to loop over and over about once a second.  Kind of annoying, but not terrible.

I'm using Easyogg for playback, looking into using LWJGL instead.
I spent maybe 5 minutes adding playback so bear with me.

It works well enough.  It seems to happen to me most often when you play a song, switch to a different song on the list, then hit stop.  As long as you hit stop before switching to another song, it seems to be fine.

Updated again.  Playback now uses native dlls instead of pure java, but only works in windows now.
We also now have proper looping!  You can preview your loops by clicking play and letting it rock.

I will implement a music slider as soon as I figure out how to calculate the length (time) of an OGG file.

I seem to be having the same problem where clicking "deploy" doesn't update the 0001.p file. It was working fine earlier and I could tell because the "last modified" field would change, but now it doesn't seem to do that either. :|

I've found a way around this.  Every time you use either "Save Project" or "Deploy," restart the program.  I've had a 100% success rate as long as:
1) you have not clicked deploy or save project in that particular boot of the program
2) your music did not start to loop a popping sound after starting it
3) the Save button after clicking Save Project isn't broken (this usually happens if step 1 isn't met).

Thanks. I figured this out shortly after restarting the program after saving the project. Kinda tedious, but it works and the program is fine otherwise. Also is it just me or can the character select bgm not be edited? I've replaced the track and it still doesn't work in-game, and this is after I added new tracks that work.

Legendary Blue Shirt managed to replace it with the Red Alert 2 score screen or whatever.  I'm just using that because it's incredibly awesome and the timing when you first bring up the screen is perfect.

I've put up another update to stop the memory from leaking all over the place when you try to make multiple editor instances and play audio from them.
Not sure what I can do about deploy not working as it should, I know it's a file permissions/access issue but it's difficult pinning down the exact source when you handle so many files at once.

If deploy ever fails, it should still make temp.out which you can rename to 0001.p yourself.

Tool updated to 1.0, making it technically the first public release as it is now on my website proper.  Finally got around to fixing that nasty bug with Ryougi's stage music not having a file assigned to it. (Although it's not normally select-able anyway)

As always, feel free to complain about everything.

Edit, is there a Song to Stage List? It'd help matching the stages to the custom music
