That's good thinking except for the fact that Akira has played the (most recent) loc test of version a and it has half moon life regen that is the same speed as crescent. Remember the game isn't out yet, so there is no "final cut".

Also wtf how does ciel's 214[a] look any different in those videos? It looks like the player is using 2c trip instead of infinite.
Oh, I thought that was 2A and the 214[A] itself was tripping. I can't really tell.

Went to a random arcade and it had VerA so just give it some time for videos.
there arent any real visual cues like how had verA, verB and BS had for Cadenza
VerA for AA has the same UI just with balance tweaks for characters

theres a little 'version a' logo in the top left when char screen loads, pretty easy to miss tho. Aside from the new mechanics changes, i think theres also a slightly different airdash graphic (more bubbles!)

Good news for the locals,
Singapore Zone-X (at DGX) has upgraded their MBAA to ver.A :D

How to check for Ver.A:

what i meant by no visual cues was the UI during gameplay
as in verA for AC had no color indicator below life bar

Um, I wasn't sure if it was just me, so I decided to ask here.

In this vid:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZFoG-VXKpc&fmt=18

is the background music a remixed version of the original Melty Blood's opening?

Apparently it's a chorus-based, slow opera-like remix, yes. Although I only picked it up when the chorus part came on (where the original song goes 「今夜だけわ譲れない」, "konya dake wa yuzurenai").

Pretty sure we don't even have anything about a PS2 release date, so don't get excited over a PC release this early.

A lot of us are hoping they port straight to PC rather than bother with a console port at all.

That would be nice.

...I hate to sound needy, but does anybody know if there's an in-depth guide to the character changes? I'm getting a pretty good idea from all these 55 pages, but it would be nice to get something a bit more specific to Nero.

I realize it's a bit much to ask, of course. The game is still relatively new, and it's probably pretty hard to get a chance to just get on a machine by yourself and test out everything a character can do, not to mention it costing more than a dollar per play.

Well, apparently Akira said there's a mook supposed to have been released at the end of last month.  If someone can catch wind of that, we'll have all that info.  Until then, just look for a MBAA thread in the Nero character section here.  I've only really been keeping up with a couple characters in detail, but I think every character has a MBAA thread by now.

Mm, upon invesitgation, the MBAA Nero thread is pretty skimpy.  Looks like you'll have to watch a lot of videos.  lol

Damn. Nobody ever uses the HOMG GIANT CROCODILE with him, that I've seen.

Is that even a move?

MBAA Nero is skimpy because it's almost exactly the same as MBAC Nero. Half Moon just has a dash 2A and bee instead of EX deer, and full moon has starmine crows.

The gator is what happens when you take EX Snake and make it go as slow as B snake. Then make it not actually have full screen range and not really launch like EX Snake did.

There's no way they're exactly the same as old Nero; 5B and 5C are completely different, as is 2C, and I haven't even SEEN EX Deer (or Deer at all!) used even once. Seems nobody uses anything but F-Nero, and I've only seen them use EX Crows, EX Mud, and (oddly enough) some special that I swear was the bees. I haven't seen the Phantasm even once (does he still have that?), and nobody ever uses his Arc Drive (though I don't figure that's changed).

One more thing about characters in general; did all the Last Arcs get immensely powered down?

It only does ~2500 damage.

It only does ~2500 damage.
5B has less range, 5C is usable as a poke like 4C, 3C is useless as anything but a launcher, 2C goes forward instead of up, and ex creepers are pretty much the same thing as deers for pressure. As far as normals go, his 5B got worse so now you have to be sure you'll hit with it, 5C is usable but it's not really better than 4C as a poke so it's not anything significant, 2C isn't as good for AA but is actually a ground to ground poke now, and 4C is exactly the same. 5A/2A are just Melty 5A/2A. He has "different" moves but they all do 4C's job worse than 4C except for 5B, which just got worse. Bee swarm is the same thing as his claw super right down to the command except it actually comes out all the time and doesn't leave you with -frames on block, and it doesn't wallslam. 214 is exactly the same except with antlions instead of snakes, except only 214B because 214A doesn't chew on them so it's worse than A snake, and 214C is the gator and it's garbage.

And last arc damage is now based on what move you shielded, at least for full moon, since no one has seen enough crescent LAs. Shielding 5A/2A does 2-3k, some specials and 5B/2B does around 4k, and other high damage specials or 5C/2C does around 5-6k. Then there's certain really strong attacks that you can catch in an ex shield that do more. I caught a Kohaku+Mhisui team vagina bomb with Neco Arc's ex shield and the last arc did 13000 damage. Except the computer takes more damage because of difficulty settings and since it was a non playable character the vagina bomb has really weird properties and the character might also have low defense.

I just hope that they make this game for PC pretty soon.  I like playing Melty Blood!  I can't wait to see how well I am going to do on the next on.
