Melty Blood at Evolution (as a main game)?

F9|Chibi:
A few things first, I wouldn't have had actually gone through with this if it wasn't for Arturo because at the first chance I had my mind went completely blank because I'm a fucking moron and more or less exhausted from Evo East.

Second, for NYC MB'ers, I managed to secure a TV to always have available for our tournaments at W2Z, more on that later.

Anyways, earlier today (Monday), around the time we were going to check out (originally 11am) myself, Zaelar, and Sabin were getting ready when we got suckered into watching the 5th (or maybe 6th) Pokemon movie on Cartoon Network. Haha, we stuck around until 11:50am, and then ran downstairs to check out.

A friend had come earlier that day (more like 3am) to tell us that they were literally giving televisions away due to the absurd shipping costs it would have cost to send them all, so we went up to the event hall to see if this was really true. There was literally like 20 televions in boxes sitting in the back with all the PS2's, Dreamcasts, and games packaged next to them. At first we wondered why the event hall was open when that stuff was just sitting there, so we just brushed it off and went down to the parking lot thinking it's best we head out.

It's then that we bumped into Gavin (Echoes of Pain on SRK, tournament director at TGA) and Ralph (RushedDown on SRK) in the parking lot. Talked for two minutes, when I jokingly brought up the point of taking the tv's.

Anyways, to make a long story short, he called a friend who was part of staff, who called the other head of staff, and told us to chill in the room for the staff to show up.

Sure enough they did, and sure enough Zaelar and myself took one televions to donate to W2Z, and Sabin took one to do whatever he wanted with. On the way back up with the boxes (the tv's wouldn't fit in the boxes so we took them out) we walked past / bumped into Mr. Wizard (do I really need to tell who he is?). We threw away the boxes, and Sabin got to chatting it up with Seth and Mr. Wizard about the old days. We had some laughs about EvoEast, the old days, and lots of other random stuff.

Then we decided to go eat, thanked them for the televions and a great time, and went down to the restaurant in the hotel to eat.

As we decided what to order Sabin was looking at me oddly when he said he wanted to slap me for not talking to Mr. Wizard, and then I asked him about what?

"Melty Blood, chance of a lifetime and you passed it up!"

He was right, I really did blank out. We all ordered our food and ran back up again, when I decided to ask Mr. Wizard a question or two about Melty Blood ever being held at any Evolution in the future.

At first he smiled, because when I asked my hands were clapped together as if I was praying, but he was kind enough to talk about it.

Basically he made the point that the game has to get a community going first, not only on EC but WC and elsewhere too. You know, get the game to blow up however possible. Make him notice that people are into this game and that it's worth consider. He said not to take it as being hopeless either, and brought up an example. Street Fighter 3S was originally on the roster when released, only to be taken off due to lack of anyone even playing the game. Then out of nowhere the community blew up and they realized it was worth putting back in. They also noted that having around 100 entrants (TTT had around 90+ when it was held at Evo) is something that will quickly get them to take notice and get them to look into it more.

So it's not entirely hopeless, and it can be done. If we could get 30 people last year, then Zaelar and myself are going to personally push for 50 this year. We're looking to really start pushing the ranbats here on the EC, possibly by a projector for MB at Evo World this year (you heard right), put in $200+ into the pot, we want to push this shit and make it happen. Evo 2k8? Probably not, but that shouldn't stop us for shit.

So let's make this happen guys!

:D

Mailorder:
Heck yeah, man.  Better watch out for AZ... gonna sweep Evolution 2009!  (or 2008, who knows!)

sleepy:
you asked a good question for this community, I personally will try my hardest to get to evo and help in contributing to mb's future. Thanks chibi.

Alt:
Despite their general uselessness this might be one of the rare situations where an internet petition could be constructive and helpful. If you could get enough people, especially people with reputations in the fighting game scene, to commit to come and compete if MBAC is in Evo that'd probably go a long way.

You could also start a campaign to hype the shit out of the new upcoming MB release for PC on the SRK forums, they have a huge userbase and lots of exposure and it couldn't hurt to have a larger presence there.

COD3player:
I'd love for this game to be on the Evo roster honestly. But I have almost no luck getting the locals into this game because they can't take it seriously AT ALL. I guess it's time to move onto new people. If I manage to go to Evo this year I'll be there to lend my support to the scene.
