When's Melty on Steam?
ahaha that's no--wait, what?

Rollback is not up there, because I'm gonna keep working on it on the side.
The first 3 options are kinda ordered in decreasing order of difficulty and time needed.
When I clean up and document the code enough, I'll put it GitHub and people can help.

Look I'm a dumbass that didn't read your post before voting. I voted other assuming that meant rollback. I think spectator mode would be the next great thing mostly because it will bring us all closer together and that's a great thing. We kind of having matchmaking like lobbies under control with IRC and what not.
Plus if you get spectator mode working ahead of lobbies, you can implement spectating in lobbies and then you'll be a real motherfucking G.

saving replay without crash? :V
-
Definitely spectator mode. Like pete said, the lobby system isn't all that necessary since most people don't have trouble finding someone to play them through IRC. MBAC Caster's spec. mode was actually a bit buggy so I imagine it's hard to get right, but imo it'd be the most useful feature you could give us aside from fixing usability issues.

I'll fix this soon, it's just a tricky bug to deal with.
Looks like I'll be doing spectator mode.
-
yesssss spectator moooooooodo!
so should I wait for this next task to be complete before requesting an idea of my own??
edit:
someone mentioned relay mode (for those who cant host)
some way to access training mode after connecting would be cool (live tutorial puposes)
Don't expect these to happen really but just throwing it out there with my fingers crossed.

Tag mode.
Find your spirit for adventure and dream big!

I would change my vote to this now if I could. Online training mode would be amazing to help people learn.
-
I would prioritize having the original netplay features before moving on to cool stuff. My list would look like:
<1> Replay saving
<2> Lobby creation
<3> Spectator mode
<4> An in-built chat feature, perhaps?
But dreams aside, let's get compatibility, optimal netcode, and replay saving down first. One step at a time.
If we could get this to run at Blazblue netplay speeds, that would be godlike :toot:
P.S. Great work, I admire your motivation for this.

If possible, add delay to training mode. Like offline training, add and adjust delay on it. So like, we don't drop stuff as much online.
@Zar, y'mean like, set the dummy on manual and have it pilloted by whoever you connect to online? that'd be great.
If they eventually come, I don't care when they come.
Although immediately, I think I'd just want the replay bug fixed. If it hasn't already been fixed anyway.
Spectator mode would also be very useful, but I'd say not as important as replay as you prolly won't remember everything that happened in the match you spectated.

Haha I remember the caster for AC having this option. It was pretty good, like training with weights on.

Yeah, exactly like that. I wanted something like this badly back when I was teaching players about Aoko in AC. I'd have them connect to themselves through debug mode then I'd spectate to give them live tips about combos, setups, movement, etc. while they were in a lag-free environment. But being able to join in with them with access to training options like infinite meter/health would also be good to supplement the method I was using for AC. Had a few "students" who progressed surprisingly well and fast with this regimen.
If they eventually come, I don't care when they come.

Wow, didn't even know the replay thing was an issue (dont have the game yet) but that seems kind of important and is probably one of the most beneficial tools for self-improvement (imo). I'd change my vote to that if I could.

Relay would be really nice
-
i recommend referring to mauve's rollcaster for a feature list. here's a list of convenience functions it has that won't be difficult to implement:
- lock inputs during connection so you can't trigger the "cancel" in dialogue boxes
- allow controller input when window is not in focus
- hosting auto-copies IP into your clipboard
- default port config
- relay address is default to mizuumi.net (a relay feature + server would need to be written for this to work ofc)
- connecting to a client defaults to IP in your clipboard so you can hit enter to quickly connect or enter a new IP
- ping is shown during connection
- entering a letter cancels connection process during a sequence that requires numerical input (like if someone has d6 and you want to back out)
- get info checks an IP for an open connection + displays ping, and displays a game in session if one exists
- player names set in config to auto-attach to auto-replay save filenames
- testing connect mode, to check for open port
- hotkeys during gameplay to change delay (and rollback frames, later in the future)
- there's actually a ton of hotkeys in rollcaster. toggling bgm, delay, rollback, auto replay save...
stuff that's harder:
- spectate
- rollback (next priority imo)
- custom color palettes
- hitbox display mode

Does caster open MBAA.exe in high CPU priority? If not, could you?

You can download third party software to save your priority changes. "MBAA.exe" will run at high automatically when started.

Yes, and I can also make it start automatically on high by going to cmd.exe and typing in "start /high mbaa.exe". Caster would open up MBAA.exe on its own, so a third party app could do it if you have a process continuously running and monitoring when the MBAA.exe process comes up. But who wants that?
-
Lobby system all the way. Maybe a tool that manages lobby server hosting to send invites to play or something among the users online, country and ping stats.
-
Spectator mode would be my top pick.
-
I would appreciate the Replays working :blah:
Spectator mode and relay connection please, then online training mode of some form would be incredible.
-

And testing. And debugging. And control config. Seriously Madscientist you'll thank yourself for doing it.
-
I voted for spectator mode. But replay save fix would be nice too.
I really like the idea of training mode, but I don't know which is easier, spec or training mode.
Thanks Madscientist!

Any chance of getting error messages that make more sense?
-
Lobby system would be hellasweet, can't even imagine how sweet would it be.
When the delay is too high, is it suppose to disconnect? I tried to play a player from Korea just to test, we got delay 11, but it would always disconnect in the first moment. We would probably only play one match for fun anyway.
