When's Melty on Steam?
ahaha that's no--wait, what?

Because Mad Scientist was so kind to update is caster to handle browser protocol, I was able to begin coding a little website. So people can tell others that they are hosting a game and people looking for games can find them more easily.

For now you can:
- Create a lobby which will be broadcast in real time to all the others users connected
(If you have installed the protocol handler, CCCaster will automatically launch and start hosting)
- Join an existing lobby directly with CCCaster (require protocol handler) or just get the IP
- Filter Lobbies by Region
- IM with creator of the lobby
- If you leave the site, all your lobbies are deleted automatically

You can view and use the site at : http://seemeinmelty.meteor.com/

Everything is pretty simple for now (and most likely full of bugs I didn't see yet) but I'd love to have feedbacks on how to improve it.

Merry Christmas

Grats on the release!

How exactly am I supposed to link the lobby to CCaster?
I dumped all the CCcaster files in my MB folder,as I did with the .bat, but it doesnt work.

You'll need to run the .bat once as admin.

Currently the .bat only works if cccaster is exactly called cccaster.v2.1.exe and if you execute it with admin right.  After execution you should have a dos windows with 4 line saying that the operations were succesful.
It's not really an easy way to link the two, but for now there's no other way.

Don't hesitate to report bugs, This is still an alpha and since it's heavily based on multiple users and real time, I couldn't fully test it.

Alright,the .bat problem was fixed.
But now my IP is all kinds of messed up! I get time out to everyone.Someone told me it's because ipv6...

Oh no IPv6... that's been on my todo list for a long while.

I'm not even sure if caster can give a IPv6 address when you host, can you screencap what you're getting?

EDIT: Actually try running with the logging version here: https://mega.co.nz/#!cdJHwSxZ!o5Gjm-9c3Tibdxy4aRD2C6OjnkcjTC1yjcOVYhwKSnQ, and upload debug.log on pastebin.

(You'll probably want to rename cccaster.v2.1.logging.exe to cccaster.v2.1.exe to work with the lobby)

Ran the .bat as admin, caster is named properly, but I can't input IP on there.

Ok I did some testing with Lucanis.

I'll be updating caster to fix a game startup issue.

Also if the IP address box empty, it probably means you have adblock blocking something.

You'll need to unblock the site, or manually remove the filter for http://www.telize.com/geoip.

@Tonberry: so you shouldn't need to enter the IP if you make sure to unblock http://www.telize.com/geoip.

Once these pieces are all ready it should work (maybe except for IPv6...).

It randomly works now  :laffo:

EDIT: I couldn't join your lobby though Madscientist

Yea I already stopped hosting. The website might show lobbies that are already dead, since it doesn't actually communicate with caster (yet). You have to manually delete the lobby if caster is closed.

The new caster to fix the startup issue is ready:

Lobby are disappearing 30 seconds after the user quit the site, so if there is a small disconnection and the user reconnect the lobby's still there

Pretty cool thing you got here, and something a lot of people were probably waiting for and never expecting to happen. +Heat.

Major props to Lucanis and Madscientist for their efforts.
This site makes it easier than ever to clearly distinguish the ones who currently want to fight and the ones who are idling, making the process of finding opponents much smoother, and doubly so for those of us living in backwater countries (like Japan).

Thanks.

There are more planned features, like doing a room with 4 or more players and it rotates who plays with who?

Anyway, keep the good work and thanks.

Having no sucess.. let's try step by step xD

1. Add ad block exception?
2. Rename as cccaster to "cccaster.v2.1.exe"?
3. Run Add_Handler_Protocol as admin
4. ???
Profit?

You can leave the new caster with the same name.

Just run the Add_Handler_Protocol.bat that comes in the zip file for 3.0 (as admin)

It seems the game folder has to be in a specific place. The prompt window say it can't find the path.

Ok, I found what to do. Just put the bat file in your desktop and run as admin with it in there.

Still caster isn't starting automatically when I join the lobby though...

Everything needs to be in the MBAACC folder, including the bat file.

You have to run it from that folder too.

Love the site. If it's ever updated I think a user highlight feature would be most appreciated.

Figured I'd post here, just in case it's not intentional, or already known.

Seems that the login and account creation functions have stopped working. No one has said anything in chat for a while too, although the site reports that some ppl are logged in.

Guess nobody said this but: Months ago the MP function is no more in the chat.

Completely broken for me as well.

Hello creator of See me in Melty, first I would like to thank you for making this site and making it super easy for noobs like me to join and start making lobbies and playing the game with others. It's embarrassing for me to say but I'm too noobish to use IRC or Steam or even registering in anything that has an email validation and I always let my email expire so I have trouble keeping track of those... Now that I think of it, that is some high level stuff of being a noob :slowpoke: lol.

Anyway, I would like to inform you that the website that you have made have been experiencing some technical difficulties for some time now. The first noticeable major problem at least as far as I've observed was that lobbies do not automatically close after a very very long time. As of now I can still see the lobby "created: 153835 min ago" as the longest and still up till as of now which was created months ago. This list can easily pile up and fill the entire viewing area if multiple people didn't manually delete their lobby after use and can obstruct the entire viewing area of the site. And now there is another major problem of not being able to create new lobbies at all. Users can still post their IP and play with each other but the one key defining feature of the entire site which was the ability to create lobbies for easy one click joining has not been accessible as of this moment. Then there are some minor issues that were always experienced like the occasional "freezing" when entering massages, user list names getting stuck even after logout, outdated link of the Add_Handler_Protocol.bat and even to some request to lengthen the number of messages displayed for when many people simultaneously chat at the same time easily burying their message until it can't be seen.

If you want I could volunteer and try to help in some way like maybe updating the instructions to include solutions to frequently encountered issues like restarting the browser after using Add_Handler_Protocol.bat if the CCCaster fails to launch the first time creating a lobby, etc.

I hope the lobby would be fixed by the time Melty launches on Steam. Or at least some kind place that new players could use and hold their interest long enough to make them stay and thereafter appreciate the game. I want to help in anyway that I can especially since time is of the essence with the Melty Steam release countdown ticking. Maybe I should start learning how the site's coding work to be of greater help? In any case I'm willing to volunteer for this, or at least until the potential new steam players start coming in.
