Stick Users and D: Thumb or Index?

Caught myself while playing the CPU today.

Playing at AI today, I realized that I tend to hit D with my thumb when playing MBAA, but when playing say, an SF game, I go back to a normal sans-thumb kind of deal.

What about the rest of you?

EDIT: Thinking about it now, I actually prefer to use my thumb when shielding, but 214D is more 40/60 thumb/index for me.

I hit it with the side of my thumb, my index finger, or the meat of my thumb; depending on what I happen to be doing with the rest of my hand at that point. 

I throw with A+D, so I tend to hit it with my thumb and a with my index if I'm at a standard posistion, if my hand is more to the left I'll hit it with my index and hit A with my middle finger; but if my hand is too the right I hit it with the meat of my thumb and hit A with the side of my thumb.

Why isn't face-to-keyboard a choice? Or dick style for that matter.
