Suggestion: MBAA Combo Database
« on: September 19, 2009, 05:23:07 AM »
Yo. I searched the net about combos and wasted much time browsing forums etc so I came up with the idea of a database containing all combos users submit into it.

Featuring stuff like combos sorted by char and style. Also uploading videos of submitted combos or "more combos with move xyz" or "more combos of xyz that work on xyz" etc.

http://meltyblood.de/charbase/

Submit formular would be like this, you can select char, style, input the combo, declare specifications, workings etc.
Then you may be able to include comboes by characters into your site instead of liking to the database. Stuff like that.

Of course it doesn't work up to now.

So, blah. Nag me about Hisui doujins & casterstats if you want =V

Other than a few typos (vermilion) and nitpicks (missing the new characters for the checklist) with the interface I think it looks great.

You have no way to specify landing, if something is a link or a cancel, or to signify holding/releasing something.

I also fail to see the point in this when you could just go to the character specific forum and get all of the combos there.  If it's an organization thing I imagine it would be easier to just create a thread and copy/paste the combos than write a program to do it.  The only possible reason is if you think people will be more likely to add combos to this than they are to post in the forums.

No big deal. Just a few more buttons.

The point is, you have the combos for several chars in one place. Also, as I mentioned earlier, if you are searching combos for Riesbyfe that work on Satsuki, then you get a list of combos with those requirements. Or high damage combos, strategy tips etc.

And yes it's a project requiring community support since I can never do it alone.

What about number of hits? Aren't there some combos that require a specific number of hits for an attack?

Hmm yes hit number would make sense.

Also, update.
You can see a overall combo listing here:
http://meltyblood.de/charbase/show_combos.php

And insert new combos here:
http://meltyblood.de/charbase/index.php

Uh, yeah. Try it out and post what I could improve, kthx! =3

Maybe you can think of a system where small variations of BnBs can be shown without having to post an entirely new BnB. For example: instead of putting two F-Ryougi BnBs like this:

5b5c236b236b236b2b5cjbcdjbc airthrow

5b5c236b236b236b2b5cjbcdjbc j236b

You can figure out a system where with just one post both BnBs can be shown since they aren't that different. Saves on space and searches too.

Yes, I'm working on a "combo variation" feature.

Also, selections if the combo leaves you save, gives oki etc. Then, also a blockstring feature with similar options.
Oh and a source field, if you found the combo somewhere else, post the source into it etc.
