both PS2 versions did that for the community while the PC versions never did.
Really?

"A new game I've never tried and know nothing of, I'll just import a japanese PS2 so i can give it a try"
"A new game I've never tried and know nothing of, let's install it and give it a try"

Which one sounds more likely to you? I for one, would never have bothered with Melty if not for MBAC PC and i'm pretty sure there's more of that opinion among the people i play with.
(almost) no one fracking imported a jp ps2 to play melty, it's really fucking easy, like SUPER EASY, to find a way to play the game on your domestic console

also I think the way more people learn about and try new (fighting) games is less "let's install it and give it a try" or "burn it to an iso and give it a try" and more "go to a friend's house/tournament/outside my basement and see people playing it and then give it a try."

last summer I made an unsuccessful bid to bring games besides SFIV and Halo to my local nerd friends, including mbaa, ggac, and bb. It didn't work, but I wouldn't have even tried if melty was pc-only, it is a legitimate hassle to introduce these kinds of games to people on pcs, with mbaa all I needed was my friend's ps2 my memory card and the game. I didn't have to set up my laptop at his house and dig up converters and all that other bullshit. I got people playing for like thirty minutes but no one dug it, wouldn't have even bothered if it was still mbac days tho

I think the issue is also regional, the Brazilian crew and Europeans are all about the pc shit, I dunno why, maybe because the scene for mbaa ps2 is close to nonexistent in most parts of the world?

As far as I know, In Brazil (I know someone from Brazil) videogames are excessively expensive. From a video I was shown: 258 Reais for a game (I'm not even talking about consoles) costs 161 USD.

That is correct,as far as I know, only the US has a (relatively) healthy offline tournament scene,EU is pretty much stuck on MBAC with some random MBAA meetups(its more like an addition rather than the focus),and that is of course for Western Europe,Eastern Europe is forced to suck it up,since no one wants to travel thousands of kilometers to play a game they never touched.

I'd like to add Latin America on this. It's rare to find people to even heard of MB (most of players are from KOF or MVC), so, a PC version is welcome here for those who have none of those games.

Well, my local arcade seems to like the idea. It's so far in the distant future that they could consider a cabinet utilizing a timer board like they do for Marvel. I really like where this is going because it's much more affordable than encouraging them to get the arcade board.

We could discuss forever what release would be better. Searching for "melty blood" in google trend I could say console almost killed melty blood...

Most people in Brazil preffer PC because most of us don't have a PS3. There was never a reason for us to buy one. Most of us play only PC games, or only MB. If it came out for PS3 I would do anything to buy the PS3, the max shooter for ps3 to use keyboard and MBCC, it would cost something equivalent to 1k dollars. I would buy it somehow, but I'm pretty sure most of the players would drop. Also we think that a good netplay is really important: it's where experience can come everyday in our spare time. Also we don't have big tournaments we want to insert ourselves in, we make our own thing, so we don't have that problem, and I think that might be the reason for the Europeans too.

But anyway, it might come out for PS3 too. The best thing is probably PC + PS3. I think at least in that point everyone can agree xD. There was some discussion about netplaying being bad, but these days everygame has netplay, so I think this discussion is overcome xD

Why are people making a big deal about this again?

They release what they release. We have no choice but to cooperate with it. Complaining about what we don't have accomplishes nothing.

Just wait for the standalone release...I mean they can't possibly lose out on releasing it like that when the thing is packed and ready to go, right?

Anyway, with regards to console, it's honestly probably worth remembering that MB looks old, it's not HD and it doesn't even look that good in smaller resolutions (like VP and AH3 do), and it's 2d, AND they don't have the resources to do netplay. Combining factors like that make it unlikely that FB/TM could sell it on PS3/360 as a disc release, or even at a decent price on XBL/PSN since both companies have silly QC standards for things like that. Whereas as a PC application they can get away with it, and don't have to deal with regional publishing stuff, as neither of those companies really have any real experience in dealing with their foreign audience.

Whilst obviously none of that means console versions are out of the question, I doubt a disc console release can happen for the game, and even if it does, is it really better if people have to jump through hoops making japanese XBL/PSN and stuff to get the game? (I'm not even sure stuff like that still works, I know I did it a long time ago to download the RE5 demo on my 360 when it was out in Japan early, but I'm pretty sure I heard that the XBL Ougon release is locked...)

On the flipside, if it did hit as a downloadable game, it might get picked up/localised by AkSys or something. But that's another IF. At least we can ALL get this version when it hits, and there's no split. There's also some info due about MB and UNIB at TGS.

bla bla bla
Fact is, that FB save alot of time by just making a non-netplay game and rely on the guys that made MBCaster back then and think "hohoho"
or
They implement a standard netplay-feature and think "hohoho we don't need servers now"
or
They make it netplay impossible.

People complaining about streaming setups: if you have a capture card that takes HDMI, it won't be that bad. Split the HDMI (this shouldn't be a problem as I doubt the output from a laptop would be encrypted), and feed one to the player's display and the other to the streaming setup. Audio would have to be split, but that's a common problem on consoles too.

Another solution: if/when mauve (or Tropsy or your mom) makes MBCaster, set up a small LAN network with all of the tournament stations. The streaming computer can either stream one station or jump from station to station as needed (or if you're feeling extra fancy, stream multiple games at once).

There are USB adapters that make the PS3 controllers Plug & Play. Was at a tournament just a few days ago and people plugged PS3 controllers into my laptop without issues.
Do you have a source for this? I'm curious why such a product would even exist... and this would only really work if there's a button configuration in-game.

This thread still isn't closed?
Who made you a mod?

No clue where they got it from, as i don't use said controllers myself.
But don't they sell PC gamepads that are basically the same as the dualshock controllers, except they're plug & play by default?
Seems like an even easier solution to me.

I was able to use my wired (3rd party) ps3 controller with Hisoutensoku, no drivers required. I don't know about the wireless ones.

There's a lot of things out there that come with drivers but don't actually need them.
