Here's a Guide on how to do this. Thanks to Hyperhal for reviving this project.

First you will need the following tools:
http://www.teamspooky.com/Random/MBAC%20Music%20tools.zip

This has the tools Extractor and Audacity. Extractor's ini file is set with the settings you will need already.

After Downloading and extracting these files,
MAKE A BACKUP COPY OF THE FILE 10.p in the Melty Blood directory.

This is very important in case you make a mistake, and also because these steps are still in beta form. I don't take responsibility if you break your computer, need to redownload the MB ISO, or whatever.

Alright, after backing up your 10.p,

Load up Extractor and choose the topmost 'Select' Icon'

Browse to the 10.p file.

Select 'Start'

To replace a song, select it in the list and hit Functions -> Import file

Choose the song you wish to import, and hit YES to both Prompts.
Here are the songs in the 10.p file and what they correspond to: (some of these still need to be worked out)

10 00001  Opening Movie
10 00002  Sion Stage
10 00003  Akiha Stage
10 00004  V.Akiha Stage
10 00005  V.Akiha Stage alternate version ?
10 00006  Front of Tohno Mansion (Maids Stage)
10 00007  V.Sion Stage
10 00008  Warakia Stage
10 00009  Chaos Stage
10 00010  Kohaku Stage
10 00011  Arc Stage
10 00012  Warc Stage
10 00013  Ren Stage
10 00014  Nanaya Stage
10 00015  Aoko Stage
10 00016  White Len Stage
10 00017  Shiki Stage
10 00018  Ciel Stage
10 00019  Mech Hisui Stage
10 00020  Neko Arc Stage
10 00021  Miyako Stage
10 00022  Hisui Stage
10 00023  Kouma Stage
10 00024  Satsuki Stage
10 00025  New Stage 1 (Neon Street)
10 00026  New Stage 2 (Alternate version of Arc/Chaos Stage)
10 00027  New Stage 3 (alternate version of Kouma Stage aka GUOOOOOOAAAAAAAAA 2.0)
10 00028  Neco Chaos Stage
10 00029  Damien Army Stage
10 00030  Neco666
10 00031  Story mode conversation
10 00032  Story mode final conversation (Evil character Version)
10 00033  Story mode White Len conversation
10 00034  Story mode final conversation (good character version)
10 00035  Options Screen
10 00036  Here comes a new challenger!
10 00037  Continue?!? (Story Mode)
10 00038  Game Over
10 00039  Ending (Good characters)
10 00040  Ending (Evil Characters)
10 00041  Next Stage
10 00042  Fight Intro
10 00043  Fight End
10 00044  Character Select

Now you may notice a problem -- all these Files are in OGG format!

To convert your mp3s to ogg format (as well as shrink them down somewhat to make them more manageable) we will use Audacity.

In Audacity all you have to do is load your mp3, Select File -> Export as OGG,
(http://teamspooky.com/images/musicimages/Select5.JPG)

Now you have an OGG music file. You can also cut some space on your files (necessary to make the songs fit better into the 10.p file) by lowering the bitrate (bottom left, setting a lower number will create a smaller file) or cutting parts of the song using Audacity's editing tool. for example if your song loops itself, cut the loop out, since the game will loop your song anyway. (this will easily cut your file size in half)

Here are some notes:

As long as you make the file size of your song equal or less than the original song, it will fit completely. However, the game is designed so that each rep of the song after the first loops from about 2-3 seconds in. It may be worthwhile to add about 3 seconds of blank space at the beginning of your music file to make the looping feel more smooth and less jarring.

10 00028  Neco Chaos stage? (unsure)
10 00029  Alternate version of satsuki stage? (not sure what this is)

First is Grey neco stage, yeah
Second is Damien army stage

You beat me to the tut, but its probably better than anything i could've thought up  :psyduck:

Also an alternate way of getting your new music down sized so a lot more of the song can fit, is by using Sound Recorder

Export whatever .mp3 you're using to .wav using Audacity. Then open the .wav in Windows Sound Recorder(its under accessories>entertainment in your start menu). Go to file then Preferences, and click convert now. On the last dropdown box, select:

16khz, Mono, 8-bit

And convert away! I got a 3.4mb file down to 900kbs using this method, anything under 16khz gets you bad quality.

EDIT: A warning, if the file you're trying to put into 10.p is smaller than the original, you're going to get errors. To remedy this problem, you're going to have to make the file you're trying to insert just 'slightly' bigger than what you're trying to overwrite, so Extractor will cut it down to the right size for you(this is assuming the file you're trying to insert is smaller than the file you're trying to overwrite, not the other way around).

EDIT2: Okay so apparently you CAN insert songs that are smaller than what is being overwritten. When you try to overwrite the file in 10.p, select yes THEN no, so Extractor can make the file you're inserting the same size. It might not work everywhere though, so use with caution.

One possible issue this may cause:

Will it affect netplay?  :slowpoke:

So, wait, does this mean that MBAC uses OGG for music data?

I think I love this game even more than before.

Nice idea, but I simply prefer to shut the music off ingame and listen to my previously made Winamp playlist. It's not as custom as this method, but I get along with it.

Though, I will try this thing out. RAITO did some cool music for RBO, too. And I think some tracks fit Melty Blood pretty much.

orrrr, you can listen carefully and find out where it starts to loop, go into audacity and select a point where it closely resembles where it starts to loop. hold it and pull back to the beginning. copy that part and paste it to the end of your song

This is the first mix I've done for Melty, it was a rap request for a friend. It's available for anyone else who may want it, just make sure you back up the original 10.p

Tell me if it works? I don't have Melty available to test.

It's kinda difficult to get custom tracks to loop perfectly due to a combination of factors. For one, I use a sampling rate of 22050 Hz because anything lower than that and the quality is reduced far too much for my liking. And since I'm using a higher setting, I can't get all of my custom track to fit in the game. Even if my custom track ends up having a slightly smaller file size than the one being replaced, it still loops at a random point in the song and finding the exact time index where it begins the loop is pretty difficult to fix. ;_; Adding the snippets of silence at the beginning of the track makes it a little more accurate but then it kinda varies between tracks. One track that I used I had to insert like 6 seconds of silence at the beginning for it to loop without sounding kinda awkward, and for another I put in as many as 9 seconds of silence at the beginning and it's still not looping correctly. :| Not to mention, when the match starts up, there is a LONG period of silence before the music starts playing. :(

MBAC Lolidunking Mix (http://rapidshare.com/files/87210065/10.p)

Featuring HOT DUNKS from:

DJ Shrapnel
Sampling Masters
REDALiCE
Blasterhead
M-Project
RaverRose

and whoever the fuck else I'm forgetting.

Yeah the rooping is FUBAR, and it probably will be until people find all of the time indexes.

There also seem to be performance issues (it seems to skip way more when playing), but I odn't know if that's just me or my PC sucking.

In the future I'd like to have a list of various mixes that people made, along with a download so you can try out other people's creations. Right now I don't think its a good idea though, especially with not having figured out what the loop points are/how to hack the game to include bigger songs.

I got Duppy's mix D;

@ Dippy's Lolidunking Mix:

Nice ghetto, yet functional, loop on the character select screen. Oh shit, I heard Horizon. Oh, and how did you manage to pick my 2 favorite songs off of Hardcore Syndrome for the night and day field stages? I heard some MM2 Wily's Castle theme in there.

Major problem on NAC's stage though: The audio is fully panned to the left.

There are some other songs in there that I recognize but have been too lazy to point out.

Track listing if you're so inclined?

EDIT: This mix is nowhere near perfect and probably won't be for a damn long time (if ever). It was enough work getting it done this well, if I finish my other two projects, I might come back and tweak this one. I'm just partially banking on the fact that matches won't last long enough to have crazy batshit looping problems. Most of the audio I've tested seems to work fine (and it really worked to my benefit that EYESORE and the "JET SET RADIOOOOOOOOOO~" effect were both exactly 0:11.)

Finally finished my first of 3 soundtrack projects. This one revolving around Jet Set Radio/Jet Set Radio Future

GENTLEMEN.

Melty Grind Radio~! (http://www.mediafire.com/?2jub4dmsney)

This soundtrack is compiled using only songs from the Jet Grind Radio and Jet Set Radio Future soundtracks.
A txt file containing the tracklist is included in the .rar file, but if you'd rather see the tracklist before you download it here it is:

10 00043  Fight End - Moody's Shuffle [Hideki Naganuma]
10 00044  Character Select - Humming the Bassline [Hideki Naganuma]

You'll I didn't bother replacing any of the arcade mode songs/effects because I never play Melty arcade anyways. You'll also notice that none of the file names match (Melty Grind Radio, Jet Set Act Cadenza, Melty Blood Radio Future, etc.). I couldn't really figure out which name I liked, so I used 'em all.

So for any Jet Set fans out there, or for anyone interested, download and enjoy.

Also let me know if you have any problems with the music in-game. I'll see what I can do to fix it.

Next Project: MBXX Accent Cadenza

My Castlevania mix is complete and I must say that it's far from perfect since not all tracks loop correctly and whatnot due to the known limitations. I will most likely fine tune this once someone either knows how to get the game to recognize tracks regardless of their length or find the correct time indexes for the loop of each track.

Melty Blood: Castlevania Mix (http://www.mediafire.com/?0xu92aylodd)

The tracks are listed as follows:

filename stage/screen - track name [composer - game]

Since there are multiple games in the Castlevania series, I decided to abbreviate each one as such:
Rondo of Blood (RoB)
Symphony of the Night (SotN)
Chronicles (Chr)
Lament of Innocence (LoI)
Dawn of Sorrow (DoS)
Curse of Darkness (CoD)
Portrait of Ruin (PoR)
Dracula X Chronicles (DXC)

10 00002  Sion Stage - Simon's Theme [Sota Fujimori - Chr]
10 00003  Akiha Stage - Mortvia Aqueduct [Michiru Yamane - CoD]
10 00004  V.Akiha Stage - Lost Painting [Michiru Yamane - SotN]
10 00006  Maids Stage - Garibaldi Temple [Michiru Yamane - CoD]
10 00007  V.Sion Stage - Blood Relations [Konami Kukeiha Club, Michiru Yamane - SotN]
10 00008  Warakia Stage - Illusionary Dance [Konami Kukeiha Club - SotN]
10 00009  Arc Stage - Crucifix Held Close (aka Cross Your Heart) [Michiru Yamane - PoR]
10 00010  Kohaku Stage - Heart of Fire [Sota Fujimori - Chr]
10 00011  Nero Stage - Castlevania Reincarnation [Michiru Yamane - LoI]
10 00012  Warc Stage - Abandoned Castle ~The Curse of Darkness~ [Michiru Yamane - CoD]
10 00013  Ren Stage - Pitch Black Intrusion [Michiru Yamane - DoS]
10 00014  Nanaya Stage - Young Nobleman of Madness [Michiru Yamane - CoD]
10 00015  Aoko Stage - Invitation of a Crazed Moon [Yuzo Koshiro - PoR]
10 00016  White Len Stage - Beginning (Crystal ver.) [Masanori Akita - DXC]
10 00017  Shiki Stage - The Cross of Fate [Michiru Yamane - LoI]
10 00018  Ciel Stage - Bloody Tears [Akihiro Honda - DXC]
10 00019  Mech Hisui Stage - Cursed Clock Tower [Michiru Yamane - DoS]
10 00020  Neko Arc Stage - Op.13 [Konami Kukeiha Club - RoB]
10 00021  Miyako Stage - Garden Forgotten by Time [Michiru Yamane - LoI]
10 00022  Hisui Stage - Woodcarving Palteeta [Michiru Yamane - SotN]
10 00023  Kouma Stage - Followers of Darkness -The First- [Michiru Yamane - CoD]
10 00024  Satsuki Stage - Silent Prison [Michiru Yamane - PoR]
10 00025  New Stage 1 (Neon Street) - Cemetery (arranged ver.) [Yuichi Tsuchiya - DXC]
10 00026  New Stage 2 (Alternate Arc Stage) - Moon Fight [Sota Fujimori - Chr]
10 00027  New Stage 3 (alternate Kouma Stage) - Followers of Darkness -The Second- [Michiru Yamane -CoD]
10 00028  Neco Chaos Stage - Den [Konami Kukeiha Club - RoB]
10 00042  Fight Intro - Former Room [Masanori Akita - DXC]
10 00043  Fight End - Op.13 (arranged ver.) [Yasuhiro Ichihashi - DXC]
10 00044  Character Select - Prologue [Michiru Yamane - SotN]

Feel free to download it if your curious but if you're a fan of Castlevania games as I am then I highly recommend it. I chose tracks that were either suitable for the character or the stage.

What can I do if the song's loop is longer than the original song's loop? I tried just flat out replacing the original file with another music file and it worked up until around the original track's loop mark (around 1 minute-ish) while the song I'm trying to import is in its entirety of 4 minutes. Does anyone know which file has the data that dictates how long each track plays until it loops again?

Edit: Never mind about the first part. However, it would still be very nice if someone knew of how to change the time limit until the songs loop though.

: Kryojenix February 19, 2008, 10:41:17 PM
damn file size limit...;_;

can anyone explain to me why exactly a larger file can't be used?  is MBAC literally programmed to look at a fix location on 10.p per song?
: Re: Custom MBACPC Music? Check!
: ObiWanBaloney February 19, 2008, 11:44:46 PM
From my experimentation, a larger file could technically be used but it wouldn't make a difference either way since apparently the game is programmed so that it loops after the length of the original song. So basically if you tried to replace a 1:06 song with a 3:58 song the longer song will loop at the point where the shorter song ends.

The thing is, there are two ways to "import" the songs. One way is the way explained in the second post, which is to use the "import" feature. Another way is to use the "add file" feature, where you basically add any file you want and rename it the file that you want it to replace (e.g. 10 0002), while deleting the file that you want to replace (in this example, also 10 0002) and it works because the game only checks the .ogg with the originally assigned filename and plays that one.

Also, from what I understand, if you use the second method then the file is played from its location on your PC rather than actually being imported into the 10.p file since my 10.p file did not change in size after the "add file" and thus the game should actually be playing the bigger file. What's more, is that it actually does work! That is, it works in the sense that it actually plays the file you added regardless of its size but STILL loops at the same point. If you export the song or open the song it'll show that the length of the file that the game plays isn't shortened either, but the looping problem persists regardless.

So from that I concluded that the real problem here is the programming of the game with the places that songs loop on certain stages. This is why I asked in my previous post if anyone knows how to access the source of that programming code, preferably and most likely within the game files, because it would be very very helpful if we want to have loops that are longer than one pathetic minute.

Edit 3: Of course, we can stick to reducing the quality but it'll still cap out at around 1:15 unless you want horrible quality songs. Not only that, but some stages seem to be a pain in the ass to loop songs on.

Edit 4: Anyone know how to get rid of the very slight pause right when the song loops? My cut music files are continuous from the beginning (which shouldn't matter) to the end (it ends with sound and not silence) :psyduck:

Edit 5: Never mind, I figured out the above problem with the slight pause at the end of the loop. Stupid Audacity  :prinny: :prinny:

I've made a few Touhou additions to my game, replacing Sion's, Warakia's, and Kohaku's music, as well as a change only the veterans will recognize. I'm pretty content with my playlist now, but if anyone else wants a full transformation to ZUN's compositions, tell me and I'll get started.

Note: The attached jumps a bit, but it was the closest I could get to looping correctly without deleting too much on either end, or making it sound like muck. Replaces 44, in case it wasn't obvious. I'll work on it a bit more when I get home.

I was hoping to replace it with Tsukihime's title song, but looping the character select music is stupidly hard...

I have a list of songs that i listen to while playing, and they fit very well.

Problem is, I don't have a lot of time nowadays, so these are basically the raw songs, and I haven't converted or snipped them yet. I might update this if I ever get some time.

I uploaded a RAR of these songs.

It's a Fukumoto mix, meaning that it's exclusively music from Kaiji and Akagi.

I have a .txt file in there with notes and telling which song should go where.

Juno Reactor? Sounds like some good shit to me. Can we get the upload up for that mix? For my mix, I was thinking about adding a track from them. Same with some ambient music, as it's easy edit job for those kind of songs, since they naturally loop. So you can pick your favourite parts and mix them in quick.

when the file is too big, it overwrites the next track with silence, when it's too small, it just doesn't work!  has anyone figured out the general file size difference limit?

well, i found the method roughly.  I uploaded a rough version of my custom track which uses Ragnarok Online music.
http://weaboo.org/uploads/index.php?&direction=0&order=&directory=custom%20soundtracks

however, i've found that after attempting to go in a 2nd time to edit, some of the files are not listed as ogm. instead of ogg. and i can't preview them anymore.

they still work in-game, but for some reason they are read incorrectly by the extractor.  any clues?

Here's the link to all these songs I uploaded

Del is a pretty good artist, but I'm sure that wasn't the link you mean't to post :psyduck:

I'm done with Tinshi's Juno mix, I just need to get it off my external HDD so I can upload it. I should be able to get it up today, seeing as how I'll be heading over to the house that currently holds my HDD.

But for now, I've completed a new rap mix suited to my tastes, and will be done with another mix I've been working on for the week.

EDIT: http://www.sendspace.com/file/nva0vb The new rap mix melty

EDIT2: My pride and glory, the MBAC capsule remix. I'll post up tracklistings for both these mixes later, I've gotta get ready to go somewhere.

Haha oh wow. So it is.

Changing it.

I would love a touhou soundtrack.

Here is the one I made. Its sort of a beta version because none of the songs loop. I just wanted to figure out how to make a soundtrack before perfecting looping and matching songs with stages and such.

Hay. I finished my OST where I took all the MB music and replaced it with Guilty Gear music that fit the character/stage/matched the old music. Or failing at that,  I also spent about 60~80 hours getting every song to perfectly loop and improving the quality. So, thus, I present the

Mirror from uLTraCarL: http://ultracarl.com/MB/(Xie)_Melty_Gear_XX_Custom_OST.rar (http://"http://ultracarl.com/MB/(Xie)_Melty_Gear_XX_Custom_OST.rar")

The only song that completely shits is the stage that uses Eddie's music. I had to crank the quality pretty far down to get that fucker to fit on the stage. I'll probably release an AC version with arcade mode tweaks later when or if I ever get my hands on the announcer's voice soundbite so I can improve the select character song.

Current Song List:
10 00002  Sion Stage - Make Oneself
10 00003  Akiha Stage -  Awe of She
10 00004  V.Akiha Stage - Writhe In Pain

I'm finally finished with my remix. That only took a bit too long.

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=7V3JFFUF

It's the Elevator Music Ver.2AAAAA Mix. I also won't be putting up the songlist, or at least not for now. The songs here are guaranteed to loop perfectly and fit the overall themes of their respective stages (though, I might have changed a few to my liking  :mystery:). I put in a lot of time to ensure the quality of the soundtrack.

Enjoy! And feedback on how different it might sound on good speakers would be appreciated since I did most of this with just headphones and the laptop speakers.

*changed the name the last second*

Also, it's recommended that you go to the MBAC options menu and turn up the music a notch or two, since some songs are slightly under the standard volume level. And plus, the music's actually worth listening to now  :V

If you have the table of loop times to sync to, I would send a couple of lolis in your direction.

I'm reworking the lolidunking mix to have better looping and to fix a couple of other issues (the music having little to do with the stages won't be one of them, though! fuck your canon). Some of the loops are already perfect, some are mostly passable, and a couple are just euuuuuugh.

Added more mixes to the first post(that shit takes FOREVER), and am re-uploading the mixes I have as I type(some of the links expired, if anyone has a reliable place for uploading mixes, do tell). I also added future mixes to the list, the ones I'll eventually be working on. Each mix takes about a week for me to complete(assuming I have all the songs from the start), because I want to make sure everything loops right/sounds good. If you have a mix you want on the first page, just lemme know in the topic and I'll get to posting it up. Try to use the template I'm using to make it easier on me. :emo:

Anyways, my latest and greatest mix is my ??? Mix, which is basically a bunch of songs that I randomly got from other people/I don't know what the hell they're called because they're in MOONSPEAK. You're never getting a tracklisting for these ones, I don't even know what the tracks are D:

http://www.mediafire.com/?mejuinypoxz

I would say this mix is a beta of sorts, because some of the songs I'm not satisfied with. These tracks include:

Shiki Stage
Satsuki Stage
Neco Arc Stage
Len Stage
Miyako Stage
Mech Hisui Stage(This is a freaking song from another mix I made >_>)

Hisui's Stage doesnt loop properly, and I think one more stage has the same problem. I'll eventually get back to replacing those songs as soon as I find music that a) fits the stage and b) is good, but for right now those are gonna have to work. Also it seems I made some of the songs a little TOO loud, to the point where we lose quality. Oh well, enjoy either way :toot:

P.S. I love Sion's/Hisui's/Parking Lot/Nanaya's musics :fap:

OWB your soundtrack is amazing. While i think 1 or 2 songs don't fit the theme of the stage, there some that are simply mind-blowing (Akiha's Stage for example).
Glad you did it and here hoping for the revamp version to be even better.

Enjoy! And feedback on how different it might sound on good speakers would be appreciated since I did most of this with just headphones and the laptop speakers.

It sounds awesome, but i don't know why in my speakers the WRen stage's volume is not even  :mystery: .

Anyway great job ^ ^

I have made a Remix, too. Though, it's not finished and I'll never finish it because of time which I mostly spend on the doujin.
I worked hard so that the music loops perfectly. Though, in one or two stages (Nanaya, Akiha) there's a small gap (~0.5sec), I hope it isn't that bad.).

Maybe someone want to complete this list? =3

I wanna start putting up previews of mixes for people to view before downloading. This way, a person could take a look at how the mix sounds when played with a real match, and help them decide if they want to take the time out to try it out in full.

So I'm asking that mix creators help me out by giving me their list of the 10 best songs in their mix. I'll then take a random replay and record the match with those 10 stages you gave me, and upload them to a Youtube account. It'll take a bit for me to eventually get all the vids up, but I should be able to work as the mixes come in.

I should have a couple mixes done by this friday, I'll make a follow-up post then

Good idea Hal. Just in time for this...

Sega Classics Vol. 1: Streets of Melty Blood (http://www.mediafire.com/?f04x4lregnw (http://www.mediafire.com/?f04x4lregnw) - Link)

Its been a long time coming for me to make this mix. Before I display the background on the great trilogy of Streets of Rage.

Streets of Rage (Bare Knuckle in Japan) is a side scrolling beat em up on the Genesis back in 1991. Not only did it have great gameplay, but it was known to have one of the greatest soundtracks in the Genesis's history thanks to Yozo Koshiro, the mastermind behind it all. Due to its great success, it spawned 2 sequels and a fan made Remake of the game that was released in 2007 (final version to be out in 2008) with the sequels being done once again by Yozo. Everyone who had a Genesis knows how much all 3 soundtracks rock. This is basically any 16-bit player's dream here. I guarantee it.

SoR Remake was created back in 2004 by Bombergames. The latest version (that was claimed complete) was released in January 2007 and it was comprised of recreated stages and some new ones as well. The soundtrack took Yozo's work and released it into the 21st century creating crazy dance club remixes. If you ever stumble onto this game, you're getting the OST for it.  ;D

I got alot better with editing tracks and splitting them up since the last mix. I also took alot more time getting this one together since this was a real project I was working on. Also, 90% of the tracks are in full length (one loop of course) and wont stop until the entire song is finished. Its a good thing.

Now, onto the track list!! (with 5 tracks from the newly released Remake!!)

Streets of Melty Blood Mix (6/4/08)

Sion - Fighting in the Street (SoR1)
Akiha - Dreamer (SoR2)
V.Akiha - Fuse (SoR3)
KohaHisu - Percussion (SoR3)
V.Sion - Stealthy Steps (SoR1)
Warakia - Boss (SoR3)
Chaos- Attack of the Barbarian (SoR1)
Kohaku - Random Cross (SoR3)
Arc - Dilapidated Town (SoR1)
Warc - Big Boss (SoR Remake)
Ren - Happy Paradise (SoR3)
Nanaya - The Poets I (SoR3)
Aoko - Slow Moon (SoR2)
White Len - Tide Riders (SoR Remake)
Shiki - The Poets II (SoR3)
Ciel - The Last Soul (SoR1)
Mech Hisui - Expander (SoR2)
Neko Arc - Crazy Train (SoR3)
Miyako - Moon Beach (SoR1)
Hisui - Too Deep (SoR2)
Kouma - Dub Slash (SoR3)
Satsuki - Back to the Industry (SoR Remake)
New Stage 1 (Neon Street) - Violent Breathing (SoR1)
New Stage 2 (Alternate version of Arc Stage) - Beat Ambience (SoR3)
New Stage 3 (Alternate version of Kouma Stage) - Dub Slash (SoR Remake)
Neco Chaos - Crazy Train (SoR3)
Fight Intro - Spinning Machine (SoR3)
Fight End - Round Clear (SoR3)
Character Select - Character Select (SoR1)
BONUS: Options - Walking Bottom (SoR Remake)

SoR1 count - 8
SoR2 count - 4
SoR3 count - 13 (clearly the best OST out of all 4)
SoRR count - 5

Please enjoy it. If enough good feedback comes, I'll be putting in work for Vol. 2...

As of right now I'm doing the fukamoto mix, redoing Tinshi's mix for the 3rd time, and working on my mix whenever I'm not sleep. Afterwards I'm going to get started on a pack Kayin asked me to do. It shouldnt take long considering he already has the editors notes ready for me. When I get home I'll redo the first post to add more mixes.

Are you running off Vista? I do know that Vista sometimes files melty's 10.p into it's cache, and runs it from there. If thats whats going on with your computer, you'll need to find that file and delete it. That way, MB will get it's 10.p info from the root folder it runs out of

Most of the music I used for this are stolen from random video game soundtracks from artist like Falcom Sound Team, Motoi sakuraba, Tenpei Sato, Yasunori Mitsuda, etc. There are a couple of songs that are remixes of video game tracks and very very few that are not from Video game Soundtracks at all. Alright then, here's the song list:

10 00002  Sion Stage - SSE Battle [SSB X Sound Team]
10 00003  Akiha Stage - Quiet Moments [Yukihiro Jindo(a member of Falcom Sound Team)]
10 00004  V.Akiha Stage - Tow-color Necklace [Tenpei Sato]
10 00006  KohaHisu Stage - Another Marbule [Yasunori Mitsuda]
10 00007  V.Sion Stage - Snare of Darkness [Yukihiro Jindo]
10 00008  Warakia Stage - Frightened Eyes [Motoi Sakuraba]
10 00009  Chaos Stage - Golden Sun Battle [Motoi Sakuraba]
10 00010  Kohaku Stage - Dragon's Eye [Tenpei Sato]
10 00011  Arc Stage - KAERU ~ Kaeru's Theme [PHOENIX Project]
10 00012  Warc Stage - GENESIS BEYOND THE BEGINNING [Falcom Sound Team jdk]
10 00013  Ren Stage - Woody Chips [Tenpei Sato]
10 00014  Nanaya Stage - The Dead Sea ~ Tower of Geddon [Yasunori Mitsuda]
10 00015  Aoko Stage - Cradle March [Tenpei Sato]
10 00016  White Len Stage - Street of December [Tenpei Sato]
10 00017  Shiki Stage - ’T‚µ•¨(this song translates to "sagashimono" i think) [Onoken]
10 00018  Ciel Stage - Chop!! [Yukihiro Jindo]
10 00019  Mech Hisui Stage - Battle ~ Battle 1 [PHOENIX Project]
10 00020  Neko Arc Stage - Luna Clock [WAVE]
10 00021  Miyako Stage - Fire Wire [Hiroki Kikuta]
10 00022  Hisui Stage - Rock'n Rocks [Tenpei Sato]
10 00023  Kouma Stage - The Strongest Foe [Yukihiro Jindo]
10 00024  Satsuki Stage - Skip 2 the... [Teranoid & MC Natsack]
10 00025  New Stage 1 (Neon Street) - PRELUDE TO THE OMEN [Yukihiro Jindo]
10 00026  New Stage 2 (Alternate version of Arc/Chaos Stage) - Pulsing Toward Ruin [Yukihiro Jindo]
10 00027  New Stage 3 (Alternate version of Kouma Stage) - Wisdom [Onoken]
10 00028  Neco Chaos Stage - Drazil's Anger [Tenpei Sato]
10 00039  Ending (Good characters) - Wanderers from Ys [Yukihiro Jindo]
10 00040  Ending (Evil Characters) - The Theme of Chester [Yukihiro Jindo]
10 00043  Fight End - For the Glancing Smile [Tenpei Sato]
10 00044  Character Select - Wanderers from Ys [Yukihiro Jindo]

Note 1: The song on Satsuki's stage "Battlefield" is actually a joke song, and an inside joke between me and my friends. I would of changed it when i decided to release it but i got lazy so oops. Maybe in the next 100 years I might consider actually put a serious song there ;).

Note 2: I don't really have the greatest loops either :(. Then when I did try to seriously fix them... I got lazy oops!

And here's the link:http://www.sendspace.com/file/sjslpg (http://www.sendspace.com/file/sjslpg)

Hope you enjoy the music!

STOP WHATEVER SHITTY NON-PERFECTLY LOOPING OST YOU WERE ABOUT TO MAKE AND LOOK HERE. This loop index data I used to make the Melty Gear XX mix (where in the song the game will begin the loop, for those of you who are OST illiterate). Most of it as close to the actual value as possible (within 1/10th of a second), but because this was all measured by myself, there is plenty of room for error and I might have created a loop without even knowing exactly where it started due to the nature of music. I will update this when I upgrade my own mix probably (read: the day I mysteriously find a clips of the GG announcer's voice or someone gives it to me); any questions/errors just give me a shout-out.

10 00002  Sion Stage -  ~ 5.31 seconds in loop index
10 00003  Akiha Stage -   0:00, but notably, it doesnt' loop properly either way Maybe around .50 seconds...
10 00004  V.Akiha Stage - ~ 5.25 seconds
10 00006  Front of Tohno Mansion KohaHisui - 0:00 also doesn't loop properly either, around .15 seconds
10 00007  V.Sion Stage -  0.00
10 00008  Warakia Stage -  ~ 6 seconds
10 00009  Chaos Stage -  ~ .85 seconds
10 00010  Kohaku Stage -  0:00
10 00011  Arc Stage - ~ 5.15 seconds
10 00012  Warc Stage - ~Not sure, I did this one completely by ear >_> ended up pretty mediocre loop wise
10 00013  Ren Stage -  .87 seconds
10 00014  Nanaya Stage -   ~ 4.2 secondsth
10 00015  Aoko Stage -  0:00
10 00016  White Len Stage - 4.8650258 +
10 00017  Shiki Stage - 1.4~1.95
10 00018  Ciel Stage -  ~10ish seconds
10 00019  Mech Hisui Stage -  ~ 8.0ish seconds
10 00020  Neko Arc Stage -  ~ 18.5 seconds
10 00021  Miyako Stage - ~LOST
10 00022  Hisui Stage - ~LOST
10 00023  Kouma Stage -  ~5 seconds
10 00024  Satsuki Stage - 6.85~seconds
10 00025  New Stage 1 (Neon Street) -  10.21655
10 00026  New Stage 2 (Alternate version of Arc/Chaos Stage) - 10.5912 seconds
10 00027  New Stage 3 (alternate version of Kouma Stage) -4.480 seconds
10 00028  Neco Chaos Stage - Same as Neco Arc Stage
10 00042  Fight Intro - VS n/a, but if you get static at the end, try adding some white space at the start of the song.

Niiiiiiiice.

It's something I should've put up months ago when I made my mix but I forgot to record all (if any) of the loop indices :prinny:
: Re: Custom MBACPC Music? Check!
: abitofBaileys June 25, 2008, 07:15:36 AM
I just made samples of the tracks and mark the loop start points with a Bing-sound to make it easier for you guys to do perfect loops. All you have to handle is the Bitrate and filesize then. Hope, it's helpful.

http://www.meltyblood.de/stuff-fu/Loop%20marks.rar

Usage: Open sample in Audacity and you'll see an empty track with one bing. Where the bing starts, the loop starts and ends with the end of the track. The space before the bing is actually for intro stuff and is just used once when the music starts in the stage.

Great stuff, today I'll add all these things into the first post so people won't need to dig to find tools to help their mixes better. Also I need to put Shin's mixes in the first post, ugh I'm behind

the day I mysteriously find a clips of the GG announcer's voice or someone gives it to me
Here's what I got from ripping sounds from MUGEN stuff. :P

http://www.mediafire.com/?3ysmo0rm9jh

I also ripped the select sound clips in case you might be able to use them. :3

Also, Xie, you did an awesome job with your OST. I was really impressed. :D Here's a quick video I made:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E4PzHHh6AqM

The only thing I found off was that the VS screen music cuts off a little abruptly, it'd be cool if it faded out a little more. Also, just out of curiosity, will you put tracks for the stages you didn't? I only recall that the stage for Nero Chao Black Neco G666 has its original music.

Just a point of curiousity, I wonder if this has happened to anyone else:
I downloaded the extractor software. And then I wanted to delete it. I closed the program and clicked delete. I managed to delete everything except the ExtractorExt.dll file. It just wouldn't go away, even after restarting my computer. I was only able to delete it after opening up task manager and terminating program processes. It's not a problem because I was able to delete it, but I was curious if this has happened to anyone else?

Anyway, for those who might care, regarding the sound clips:
- All announcer sounds, except for destroyed clip, taken from Guilty Gear XX life bar made by Minstral
- Destroyed clip taken from Johnny made by Muteki
- Select sounds taken from Guilty Gear XX screen pack made by Minstral

Tried to make my own soundtrack yesterday, but the song doesn't play to end before it loops. How on earth do I fix this?
: Re: Custom MBACPC Music? Check!
: liger July 02, 2008, 01:02:09 PM
If the file you added is longer than the file you replaced, it will loop at the point which the original file ended, I believe. =/
: Re: Custom MBACPC Music? Check!
: Sp00ky July 02, 2008, 01:06:22 PM
^ what he said. Unfortunately this is a really proprietary solution and it takes a lot of unnecessary effort to get working absolutely perfect, involving doing things like editing your songs to keep only the most important sections and cutting file sizes down.
: Re: Custom MBACPC Music? Check!
: V-Kattou July 02, 2008, 02:16:46 PM
Bloody--

Oh well, it'll work out somehow. Do someone have the exact lenght of every song for reference then? (If you do not, don't bother making it, I can always do it myself)
: Re: Custom MBACPC Music? Check!
: liger July 02, 2008, 03:47:07 PM
Yeah, it sucks. x_X

As for length of song, I don't think anyone has that data off hand, but you can check (somewhat) easily by just extracting track you want to see the length of and check its properties. I downloaded the Core Media Player for convenience of playing .ogg files. :V

Also, XieXie posted this a few posts earlier:

Just a quick discovery from me. I mentioned a little bit ago that I had trouble deleting the ExtractorExt.dll file. Well, I downloaded extractor again with the intent on attempting to make an OST using all Melty Blood remixes, but quickly found out that not all the songs have been remixed yet, such as Satsuki's or Kohaku's stage music. So I went to delete extractor again and lo and behold, the dll wouldn't delete again because something was using it.

Long story short, I was able to delete the file by booting up my computer in command prompt safe mode and then used the del command to delete the file.

Hopefully none of you guys have had this problem. But in case you do in the future, here's a possible solution. =)

So basically, I've been hella slacking. I ended up completing two more mixes that a couple members had asked me to work on for them, and at the same time I've been working on my own. I added the tools to the first page, if theres anything somebody would like to see in there just let me know. I've gotta get home to put the mixes up, and at the same time I'll see if I have any of the older mixes so I can re-upload them. I'll add mirrors for each mix, so that if one goes down you'll have two more to try out.

I've also been asking for suggestions to help people with downloading custom mixes, and they said they'd like to get a preview of the mix in action; without actually downloading it. So I've started grabbing mixes and uploading vids of random replays at work with respected mix. If any of you would like the same treatment done to your mix, just let me know and I'll get to it when I can. I'm looking at 10 vids per mix, so if you give me your 10 stages I'll give you your 10 vids. So far I've got:

S-Shinobi "Shinobi Mix" - http://youtube.com/view_play_list?p=94D57D45BE4D9436
Hyperhal "??? Mix" - http://youtube.com/view_play_list?p=AF8A5EE83C9BEC67

Anybody have a clue where we can get a reliable server for uploading these mixes?
: Re: Custom MBACPC Music? Check!
: ElderGOD July 24, 2008, 05:29:44 AM
Theres one more thing I forgot to say thats really important and relevant to anyone making their own mixes:

When you downsample a song, Audacity adds a little bit of silence at the end. The further you downsample it, the more silence gets added on. So when you downsample a song, be sure to open it again and remove the silence. This way your songs'll loop properly and you won't be stuck figuring out wtf happened and what went wrong. Make sure you save it as the same samplerate too, or you'll be back to square one :toot:

If anyone is interested in knowing the next mixes I'm putting up, it'll be Kayin's Touhou mix, and Mizuki's HnK mix. I'm also revising my ??? Mix by replacing songs I didn't like and fixing loop problems with other stages. These should be up tomorrow, but I hold no promises!

Dammit Shin, I didn't even see this mix being post :emo:

Good shit either way, when I get some sleep (or when I remember to stop forgetting) I'll post your stuff up on the front page. I still owe you some vids, they'll be coming sooner or later as well

Anyways I got sidetracked hella hard, and a couple of mixes had to be completely redone because they got corrupted somehow. Right now I'll leave you with two mixes:

1) ??? Mix Redux - http://www.sendspace.com/file/37j01c

This is the final and actual version of my ??? Mix, as the last version had a lot of unsatisfactory songs in it. I went and tried to make songs loop better, revamped the tracklisting to put good shit into the mix, and overall made it into a product I'm satisfied with. I think this'll be the last mix I'll ever make for myself, it's just that perfect to me. Either that or I'll just use this mix and edit songs out whenever I need to.

2) Kayin's Touhou Mix - http://www.sendspace.com/file/kx7gsh

This mix gave me a lot of troubles. I completed it after doing it little by little, and it ended up getting corrupted somehow. After the corruption I had to start over from scratch, so I thought why not try and make this some good shit. The orginal mix I made didn't have very good quality, as I had to downsample a lot of the songs to get them to fit. Things didn't go so well with this version either, and after a really long time of scratching my head, I said screw it. I don't like the quality with this mix, all the songs weren't that good of a quality before I inserted them, which means they're gonna be even worse come the final mix. Some things I just couldn't get to loop right, ambiguous ass songs in this mix really mixed my shit up. But whatev, its out and I learn more about the procedure

Still working on Mizuki's HnK mix, this one is pretty fun working on

Alrighty. So I sat down today and thought that I should contribute something to MBAC.  :psyduck: So, I went ahead and made a mix of my own. It's a great one too. Tracks that were not mixed: Evil Ending, Good Ending, Continue, the Versus Screen, and the New Challenger. I'll call it......

Melty Millionaire Third Strike (http://www.mediafire.com/?gjug1xy5d6m) - This pwnsome mix contains music from CvS Millionaire Fight 2000, CvS2 Millionaire Fight 2001, and Street Fighter 3: Third Strike.

I didn't keep track of what tracks I used, but all of them are lovable.  :prinny:

Sup guys. Just thought I'd drop off an adjusted version of the first SoMB because of some problems I had with it being my first major mix and all. Here are the problems you may have had when it first came out.

1) Loop times. I made this before Fabro created his handy loop .rar file (its in this thread) and was pretty n00b to adjusting music.
2) Volume differences. I did the best I could trying to make the music the same volume but its hard because I am dealing with 2 types of music from 2 different time states. So of course the quality would make it seem louder when it isnt. There may still be some, but not as much of a difference as on the first release.

I also added 4 new tracks (including one for people who just got ver. 1.03A+)
Hopefully both of my SoMB mixes would get real tournament play one day.

Here's the list of the new tracks:

Streets of Melty Blood the First: Revised Tracks (link - http://www.mediafire.com/?mwmnoxiymwe)
Ciel Stage - S.O.R. Super Mix (SoR2)
New Stage 2 (Alternate version of Arc/Chaos Stage) - Hurry Up!! (SoRR)
Fight Intro - Mr. X!! (SoR3)
City (MBR ver.) - Up & Up (SoR1)

For the previous release of SoMB1, check this post.

Now we're onto new business.

Shinobi's Hidden Stash - Musou Warriors of the Blood (UNFINISHED) (link - http://www.mediafire.com/?xf7mnzwzezp)

This is the official last mix I ever planned on doing. Its unfinished because most of the tracks were added, but some are pretty mistimed due to the music files being so big. The ones that did fit however do fit perfectly. Also, this was the only mix I decided to keep away from MB because it was the only one that I and I alone was going to play to. Call it one of a kind but I was too busy with work and school to ever finish it. I did get rid of most of my editing tools on my old computer so it just chilled on the sidelines for a month. I decided to go ahead and release it in its unfinished form. I would say its about 90% complete tho, Im not giving you trash lol.

All the music is from Dynasty Warriors 3, 4, and 5. Please enjoy it. Now you know what Ima say...ONTO DAT TRACKLIST!!

RIP AND TEAR!

This is a proof of concept file, so proper loop points and shit have been ignored. (Not that any of the loop data is stored in 10.p anyway  ::))  It's more or less the Guilty Gear Isuka sound track.  Notice that the filesize has changed.  This is because I am 1337
I may make a tool for doing this available to the public in the near future.

No track list because I don't have the original tracks names at all  :'(
A few things about this mix:
1. ONLY music from KOFMI2 is featured.
2. Some tracks are wedged in there pretty forcefully, due to having limited resources.  The soundtrack has a lot more heavy drum beat tribal music tracks than I would have liked.
3. I replaced Arc's theme with the theme of GEESU (fuck yeah)
4. The only track I had left that was unused went into the Neon Street stage.  Listen to it and go kill yourself shortly after.

Something you need to know about this tho, you must have BlueShirt's music tool working properly in order to use this. Also, make sure all of your character/character select/winner songs have a loop value of 0 so you can listen to the whole song in game.

Someone else was bound to do this eventually anyway, so I might as well do it myself and get credit for it.   :teach:

I give to you.... THE TYPE-MOON LUNAR REMINISCENCE MIX!

Criticism fuels my improvement.

Classic Home Invasion has an awkward sounding loop.  I'm not that fond of Artificial Eden, Classic Home Evening Party looping the same sound effect for a minute or so at the beginning.  Original Tohno Mansion Central Garden >>> replacement.  That was one of the best songs in the original imo.  Classic's music is too slow paced.  You should two different songs on Great Cat's Village and NECO NO YOU MAY.  Use MBAA for Character Select, VS, and Winner if you don't want to use Blazblue.

fixed. Will be implemented in V2. how the hell did i miss a bad loop like that?  :emo:

Worded kinda awkwardly, let me make sure i got this. Your not fond of Artificial Eden, and you don't like how Classic Home Evening Party loops a sound effect at the beginning?

What sound effect is looping on CHEP? (This is the akiha stage were talking about right? the one with the piano bgm?)

Original Tohno Mansion Central Garden >>> replacement.  That was one of the best songs in the original imo.

If i can find a remix of Severe Person, il implement it in a heartbeat. Thing is, i haven't found one, so... :blah:

Classic's music is too slow paced.  You should two different songs on Great Cat's Village and NECO NO YOU MAY.

Fair enough. Will change Classic and Great Cat's Village for V2. (Leaving NNYM as is. Objections?)

Use MBAA for Character Select, VS, and Winner if you don't want to use Blazblue.

I really wanted to avoid using too much MBAA, but if i can't find anything better from my TM material bucket, then I'll implement these most likely. Unless people are really fine with Blazblue in a soundtrack that's supposed to be 100% Type-Moon... :psyduck:

Anyone else with feedback, or should i start putting together Version 2?

Nah, I meant to say that I don't like how Artificial Eden and Classic Home Evening Party almost exclusively repeat the same one sound for the first minute.  It's not literally same sound(starting from 9 seconds to 1:28) it's two piano segments played over and over with slight modifications while the background music slightly changes.  The original uses those same two segments repeatedly but it switches at 42 seconds.

Okay, addressing this, starting with Yuraimbatol (Artificial Eden). I completely see what you mean in this case, the intro was too long. Shaved about 30 seconds off of the intro buildup, while keeping the same general effect, and changed the looping to what i believe is shorter, and better. (less of a cut-n-jump and more of an actual transition.) Anyway, you'll see what I mean when i release V2. Im under the assumption that the song itself is fine, and it was just the intro that irked you.

However, I don't see how Elegant Blaze (CHEP) is the same sound played over and over. Sure its one basic melody reiterated differently and more playfully each time before the transition into the wild and passionate part, but the original did the same thing, minus the differences in the reiteration, and minus the wild ending. So would the main melody being played 4 times before transition, played differently each time, be better then the 2 times played in the original, with no difference at all? I'll be honest, I don't see the logic there.  :mystery:

Anyway, now that Artificial Eden is dealt with, was there anything else you found un-satisfactory with the soundtrack? or were those the only bones you wanted to pick?   ???

Well regardless, +HEAT for your trouble. Thanks for the assistance.

Still taking input before V2 from everyone else who's interested as well.  :prinny:

GLZ, I don't know about you but the version of End of 1000 years that you're using sounds very... off to me. To put it simply the timing is very awkward to start (and that has to be very precise or else it sounds weird), I'd suggest a different version of the same piece.

However, I'm liking the music you're using on Lost World's Biography.

Can someone make a custom MBAC soundtrack with all the rearranged songs from MBAA?

If you want to play Melty Blood with the full MBAA soundtrack, you might as well just play MBAA. The full OST isn't even out yet for MBAA to my knowledge, and even if it was, by the time someone would finish properly looping everything and tuning it for MBAC, MBAA would be out already, and you'd all be playing that instead.

If your desperate for new mixes of the standard BGM's, get the Reminiscence V1 mix. Most of the good MB music is remixed on there anyway.

What don't you like about the Ezel Ash rendition of End of a Thousand Years? The slow-ish buildup before it goes nuts? If you let me know specifically what you don't like, that will help with choosing a new remix.

Anyway, I will have a different version of EoaTY for V2. Its the most remixed song in all of type-moon other then EMIYA, so it shouldn't be hard to find another high-quality one that loops well. (In fact, i think i have a few others in my MP3 barrel right now actually.)

Anyway, V2 is at about 80% completion. In addition to removing all stage musics that aren't type-moon remixes, (so no more touhou), i rebalanced the volume on the different stage BGM's to be about even, redid the looping for allot of them, shortened the startup time on some pieces, etc. Its all around better then before, at least in my opinion. You all can be the final judge of that when V2 is released.

Still trying to find appropriate music for 2 more stages, and now Iron Maiden as well, though that one isnt going to be very hard.

The toughest part is going to be finding time to keep working on this now that Blazblue is out. Getting this done was hard enough when all I had on my plate was DeadSpace, Kagetsu Tohya, and WoW.  :emo:

Anyway, if you have anything else to comment on, feel free.

My problem with the piece is the timing of the intro, it feels like he's trying (and failing) to syncopate it and it's driving me nuts. If you're using a different version of it for the next release it should be fine.

My problem with the piece is the timing of the intro, it feels like he's trying (and failing) to syncopate it and it's driving me nuts. If you're using a different version of it for the next release it should be fine.

If it was just the intro you didnt like, i can just completely cut that slow buildup and have it start from about the 42 second point where the intro ends. shouldnt be to hard.

As for other versions of the song,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_3edj90nZCk&fmt=18

Crow's Claws main rendition.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khHcJvZX8Bk&feature=related&fmt=18

Mint Jam's Rendition.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mXK9mgCbf9g&feature=related&fmt=18

Not sure of the Artist, but I have the MP3 already, so it doesn't really matter.  :mystery:

Take a listen and compare to Ezel Ash's Rendition. I can cut out EA's intro if that's the only part that bugged you, or we can go with one of these guys. (or any others I can dig up, if none meet standards.) Take your pick.

That's not true there are still a fairly decent amount of people that still play AC

if anyone actually cares enough to pester me about it, il work on it again when i get a new soundcard (need to HEAR the shit in order to properly loop it) Till then even if people want it, i cant do anything atm about it.

Busy regardless. (which is why i quit doing it in the first place.)

Still have the old data on my old hard drive iirc so its not like i couldn't finish it if i had a card. that all said, i just seriously doubt there are enough people playing MBAC now that BB/MBAA/SF4 are out to warrant me spending all of my free-time for a week hunting for obscure/rare remixes and finding loop-points when i could be doing something more productive. Public upload sites don't exactly count as reliable hosting.  It makes sense that they'd time out eventually.

I hear 4shared is pretty good for that kind of thing though.

I know I'm pretty late for this train at the moment, but if anyone has some of the older mixes (namely the Castlevania, SoR mixes, and the Sonic ones) and wouldn't mind putting them up somewhere I'd really appreciate it.  Most of them have expired from the hosting sites.

: Dark Pulse February 24, 2010, 07:57:06 AM
Has anyone investigated the possibility of finding out where the loop data is stored? I can tell you it's not in the oggs themselves, so somewhere the engine is getting that data.

If we can find that, the potential for mixes increases exponentially.

If Actress Again Current Code is the last Melty though, we should probably wait a little bit for that game. Current Code is supposed to come out this Spring in arcades, so hopefully that means a PC version should be out by late this year or early next year at the latest.

Perhaps you're looking for the tool I made?

http://justnopoint.com/lbends/miscstuff/mbacMusicTool.jar

Hmmm I should update it sometime... it's slow and ugly.  (A preview option would probably be good too.)
: Re: The MBACPC Custom Music Topic
: Dark Pulse February 25, 2010, 07:24:58 AM
Well, that's part of it, but it's been said that any custom music placed in cannot be longer than the original track (or rather, cannot be of a greater SIZE than the original track.) This means that while one can move the loop point, one cannot have a song of bigger size than the original. While this isn't a problem for some of the main BGMs (Decently high-quality 128k Oggs at 48 kHz) some of the music is considerably lower quality (96k Oggs at 22 kHz) and this leads to some downsampling needed to "fit" a longer song into the apparently-fixed filesize limit. This is the restriction I am talking about in particular.

A true hack of the engine would therefore mean being able to remove this restriction, and thus allowing, in theory, one to place a five-minute song in. (Although a match taking five minutes would be pretty tough, I'd say, unless both players are zoning like mad and afraid to make a move.)
: Re: The MBACPC Custom Music Topic
: Legendary Blue Shirt February 25, 2010, 08:43:53 AM
Irrelevant.  My tool rebuilds the file to bypass the size restriction.

Why don't you actually try using it?
Or here, here's a mix I made using KOF:MI2 music.
http://www.justnopoint.com/lbends/junk/KOFMI2MIX.zip

You'll notice it contains not only the music archive 10.p, but 06.p which is used for storing patch information.  Inside it is a file called BGM.TXT which describes all the loop points that the game uses.  My tool can also modify this file at will.

(Shout out to Mauve whose code I studied in order to open these file in the first place  ;D)
: Re: The MBACPC Custom Music Topic
: Dark Pulse February 25, 2010, 02:37:56 PM
Ah, well, I didn't know your tool could do that. My apologies then.

I just might have an idea for a mix brewing then, if that restriction is truly removed.

While I got your attention, are there any tools for extracting the .p file contents in general?

EDIT: Oh yes. Thanks to your tool it won't take long at all. As I had read only the initial couple posts in the topic, I had no idea about the size restrictions being neatly removed. Too bad some songs still won't fit, like the intro song... but ah well. A creative bit of editing might fix that, since I don't have to worry about loop points. I just have to fit it in the time, or else the intro scene will end before the song does. :P

EDIT 2: A couple quick things to point out:
Other than that, though, this thing's ace. If I can think of other stuff I'll be sure to mention it, but the ability to do stuff by sample and not just by some arbitrary unit of time is probably the most important one I can think of.
: Re: The MBACPC Custom Music Topic
: Dark Pulse February 27, 2010, 06:05:12 AM
Update time. And a "new" pack. Sorta.

You can all thank Blue Shirt up there for pointing out his tool can get around the filesize/loop problem, or else these packs wouldn't be possible:

Maybe I'll do a real mix soon. But as far as I could see, nobody else has done this yet, and since I had the tools and the means to get at the music and video, well, SOMEONE had to do it. :) Obviously, this will really only be desired by those who want Actress Again, but lack 1) An Arcade Machine, 2) A Modded/Import PS2, or 3) The CPU Horsepower needed to emulate it. At least this should help those poor unfortunates stave off that burning desire to play it, and show off the nicely-redone music. (That's back to full song lengths, too, something I *HATED* about MBAC PC with a passion.)

Oh yes: Note that I didn't just rip these off the OST. A few songs are different on the OST than they are in the game itself (Namely, 1-09 Stillness Dark and 2-18 Unprecedented, and possibly some others.) How did I get the actual game versions, then?

Well, that will take a bit of explaining... and be potentially another gift... if the demand for it is high enough. ;)

For now, enjoy! And do tell if something's messed up. This pack nearly got put up with a missing loop in "1-13 The theme of Arcueid" but I managed to catch that. I confess I only took a couple quick playthroughs though, so test this out for me and if you find any problems they'll be fixed damn quick. :)

Hey I had a question about this stuff since I'm having issues here. I've made my replacement files into .ogg format AND smaller or equal to the orginal file I am replacing, but I get some weird results when I import the files. Hopefully someone has had similar issues that can help me here, otherwise sadfaec.

Issue 1 (doesn't affect anything major so I don't think it's anything to be overly concerned about): .ogm?

As you can see in this screenshot, sometimes when I've replaced a file, the file will show up as .ogm the next time I scan 10.p. I don't really know why this is happening, but yeah. It doesn't affect anything in game from what I can tell and the songs still work so, *shrugs*.

Issue 2 (halts my progress of making this 10.p music mod): Extractor error

I tried to replace the 8th file in the 10.p with a song I made to replace it (lesser file size, ogg format). I thought I had all the requirements done properly, but it just refuses to replace it properly, and after I do replace it, I get this error message and I have to copy back over my backup 10.p file to start over again.

If anyone has any suggestions/help I'd greatly appreciate it. I'm lost  :psyduck:
: Re: The MBACPC Custom Music Topic
: Dark Pulse October 03, 2010, 01:15:10 PM
Use BlueShirt's tool. The old restrictions on Quality and size are removed with it, and it does the replacements and such automatically.

You do need to know your song's loop point though. Ideally up to four decimals, so as to minimize the "potential" error in looping, since according to BlueShirt, the game specifies loops in seconds, not in samples, and so there's no way to be 100% accurate.

how do you run a .jar file?
: Re: The MBACPC Custom Music Topic

It will run like a normal EXE, actually, as long as your system has a Java Interpreter on it. (And it should.)

: Spud89 October 03, 2010, 09:45:51 PM
I don't think it does, cause it's just showing up as an unrecognized file. Guess I'll google to see if I can find Java Interpreter

That's very odd then. I can just double click it and run it like a normal EXE.

On my computer, it opens with "Java(TM) platform SE binary." Since you said it didn't run with  javaw.exe, try running it with java.exe.
: Re: The MBACPC Custom Music Topic
: Legendary Blue Shirt October 05, 2010, 09:57:30 AM
See if the commandline works.

java -jar mbacMusicTool.jar

If it doesn't work, your system's PATH environment variable is not including the java BIN folder.
http://www.jibble.org/settingupjava.php
It's rare but occasionally the java installer messes this up.
: Re: The MBACPC Custom Music Topic
: Spud89 October 05, 2010, 06:36:45 PM
well the command line failed, and after changing the Path environment to include the bin folder I still get "could not find the main class: C:\Users\Spudman2798\Desktop\mbacMusicTool.jar. Program will exit." error message.

I'm going to hazard a guess and say he's on Vista or Win7 then?

It's not a problem, as I've run the tool on both Vista and 7 (64 bit versions, at that) but Vista and Win7 tend to make shit like this harder to troubleshoot.

yeah I'm on lol7
: Re: The MBACPC Custom Music Topic
: Dark Pulse October 08, 2010, 05:06:22 PM
Yeah, it's doing dumb shit then. Java probably has to be run in administrator mode or something.

Set both java.exe and javaw.exe to run in administrator mode and that should work. If not, uninstall it, then download and reinstall it entirely.

: Re: The MBACPC Custom Music Topic
: Dark Pulse October 12, 2010, 07:07:26 PM
It's actually an error in the program - BlueShirt screwed up the names.

08.ogg and 10.ogg are mislabeled. What is actually "Nero's Stage" (08.ogg) is actually Midnight Park, and what is actually "Arcueid's Stage" (10.ogg) is actually Back Alley.

So to replace Nero's Stage, replace 10.ogg, not 08.ogg. 08.ogg will replace Midnight Park.

Again, I think that's BlueShirt's fault. :p
