When's Melty on Steam?
ahaha that's no--wait, what?

A friend I'm introducing the mbac to, commented on the lack of wake-up specials/supers in the game.
From the wiki it seems that they're pretty hard to do.
Are there any characters that people practically use wakeup attacks for? (probably characters with moves that have i-frames on startup or something?) Which characters? Which attacks do they use? Is there any special trick to performing wakeups consistently?
(can these things beat a person crouching over you spamming 2A?)
-
There's 2f of invincibility on wakeup. Most supers have invincibility on startup, but you have to actually time them to beat meaties. Also they're not generally safe. Some things also have a lot of clash frames on startup. Look it up in the framedata viewer.
-
By "supers" do you mean C-button specials? Or just arc drives?
-
C button specials. Just look up the framedata. You shouldn't attack on wakeup usually anyways.

Oh ok. So there's no characters/moves where wakeups are recommended/practical?
-
Most characters have PRACTICAL wakeups. That doesn't mean you should do them because the opponent can backdash if they expect it and you get comboed for free, and if you time them wrong you get comboed for free.
-
Most 623c's will have at least a ton of clash, if not some invincibility frames (although some of them only have upper body invincibility, so 2a spam could beat it out anyway). If the guy's having that much trouble dealing with 2a spam on wakeup though, just low shield and punish that shit all day.
-
Heheh, he was mostly just suffering from his ingrained reflex from other games of doing wakeup dragon punches ;)
-
Lol, well depending on the character, you still have that option. Just...there's not really that many who have straight up classic DPs.
-
Points at White Len.

Wake-up 2a works against people that can't time meaties.
-
Wake-up attacks? Only scrubs use those.

[14:42] <Sabator> wakeup tiers:
[14:42] <Sabator> S tier: block
[14:42] <Sabator> A tier: shield
[14:43] <Sabator> B tier: reversal, 2A
[14:43] <Sabator> C tier: dodge
[14:43] <Sabator> D tier: heat
[14:43] <Sabator> Euro tier: throw
-
after experimentation i'd say dodge is probably B tier if you're playing offline or are good at adjusting to delay
-
Depends what people meaty with.
Air attacks or 2As are pretty much a no go with dodge innit.
