When's Melty on Steam?
ahaha that's no--wait, what?
-
Outside of the arcade, I've only played Melty on PS2. Just wondering is the PC version much better and if so is Act Cadenza Ver. B the best one to pick up (best graphics, gameplay)? I'd imagine you're either using a stick or PS2/360/etc. controller to play right (fighting game w/ keyboard and mouse just seems bizarre)?

the PS2 version is really outdated and is considered to be a relic now. the PC version is pretty much a port of the current arcade version. keyboard crushers exist.

Says the master. :teach:

What's so wrong with the keyboard? I use it and I can imagine it's tougher to use the controller ie for 22 inputs. If you're used to it, you'll play just as well as anyone else who uses controller/stick.

I know there's a few to choose from. Is Act Cadenza Ver. B the best one to get?

There's only two incarnations of Melty Blood on pc, the horribly outdated ReAct and the most current Act Cadenza ver.b2. As long as you're getting Act Cadenza pc version, you're set.

Only two? But what about the original?
-
That is the original, just that it had an expansion in it.

I try not to remember the original. *shudders*

Yeah, Re-ACT is an expansion of the original.
Thing is, like most expansions to PC games, it runs completely separate from the original Melty and has its own EXE and everything, so I count it and the original as separate games.

Well I see in the MB store you guys link to the copy Play Asia is selling. If I buy that copy is that all I need or will I need to get some patches, expansions, etc.? I plan to play this w/ a Super Joy Box 3 Pro USB adapter and a PS2 Hori stick if that makes any difference.

You will need that and the patch to the latest version, 1.03A, which is also linked to in the front page of Melty Bread. If you want to netplay, however, that's something different altogether.

I think I'd probably be fine w/out netplay in the beginning but if I decided to do it later is it a pain to get running?
-
No, you just uncompress the files, run the netplay client, and that's it. You might have to open your router ports for it to connect correctly, but getting it to run in itself is a pretty painless thing.

You only need to open said ports if you're hosting.

I will see you there!

i think i like keyboard better than d-pad, i converted not to long ago and i play worst with it. Not to mention it makes my thumb bleed.
And i guess pc i dunno ???
-
My keyboard couldn't handle all of that button pressing.
Act Cadenza Ver. B, is what I play mostly because that is the only one I have. :)
