When's Melty on Steam?
ahaha that's no--wait, what?
-
I'd be willing to host one once a week or every other week. It would be similar to the Donjon Radio, but a bit more serious, and more geared towards players and their feelings on subjects.
If I were to do this how would you want it?
A) Live shows
B) Downloadable Podcasts
I was thinking of a player interview in these shows too once in awhile, something to throw on the frontpage.
Don't worry, I won't sound monotone and bored, I do have an enthusiastic voice.
-
I was actually fiending to do this type of thing as well.
I think downloadble is better then live.
;p
-
Downloadable gives me something interesting to put on my MP3 player before a long drive.
Sounds good to me.
-
I miss Donjon Radio.
I would have totally attempted this again but had no chance in hell to do w/o my computer. It would be a blast if this actually got off the ground.
-
I'd like both, like one live showing for everyone to listen to, and then have it downloadable later
sweet idea
-
Will you also cover topics such as 'HOW TO PLAY MELTY' and certain aspects of the game like 'WHY JUMP' 'FRAME ADVANTAGE AND DELAY HABA'
...
-
I can always do a live show, and then upload the recording, unedited.
I can always talk about the system mechanics if I have a knowledgeable person on the stream.
I'd need a Melty Bread staff member to officially let me dub it a Melty Bread podcast.
-
Will it be over ventrilo or something or skype to let people from all over the world talk on the podcast??
-
I will most likely use Skype.
-
I fully support this.
You could feature prominent melty players including the one and only:Best Nanaya in Romania.
Good luck!
-
even if my speaked english sucks i can be there if we do it on Skype
-
Let's try and keep this professional and not turn it into a skype gangbang.
I definitely want in this somehow.
-
If you guys make a Melty podcast, I would definitely listen to it. I'm more preferential to downloading it rather than listening to a live show for portability reasons. I would also advertise the heck out of it in every channel available to me.
-
If you wanted to do it weekly you could just steal interesting ideas/topics that come up in IRC and see what gains the most response from people and do a 20 minute podcast every week as far as mechanic discussion. You could also talk about upcoming events and what interesting thing members of the community could be up to.
If you do it live and downloadable basically you run the discussion live (with a set list of everything you want to talk about), then just announce what interesting comments would be made on IRC and talk about it. I think it would be best to be two-man, a charismatic talker/someone very into the community (For example, Miz, Lolisauce, or Chibi would be great for this) and someone very knowledgeable about the game (For example, Tonberry/Bell/Zar/Sp00ky).
You could also run weekly segments (pick a character each week to have a discussion about), and have a person interviewed to talk about that character. For example, someone from the Mage's Association to talk about Aoko one week. Maybe ask about interesting gimmicks/setups/tips about the character.
I think this project could be really fun if prepared for properly. I used to assist a friend for his DJ work and substituted for him a few times - and also ran an online radio show for a year. The most important thing I can tell you in broadcasting is just be prepared and never ever have any dead air. It's not hard as long as you have a couple talkative people together. You can go really far with a few neat sound effects and intro/ending.
-
You could do a 30minute QUESTION TIME - with questions in thread. While having knowledgable people, help answer these questions
Example
Thread for week 1
Hi this is xxxxxxxxxx. Ill be doing a podcast next week on xx/xx/xx with guest xxxxxxxxx.
post up questions aimed at the guest or general questions
Typical question.
Hey guest, why do you main xxxx character
...something like that!
-
I need shit to listen to while at work.
Also if I'm on a show people can bitch about how I sound like a girl again and I don't actually play games.
-
Id like to take part. however, my technical experience with any kind of podcasting is null. ;x
-
Another show idea is just covering our tournaments. Summer Jam is this weekend and NorCal Install is the end of the month. With that, it proves that there is a melty scene going and keeps people motivated to show up to one.
-
Yeah Chibi, I'm not going to deal with 10 people on Skype at the same time, my brain will shut off and I'll just start kicking people off.
Anyways guys these are a ton of good ideas, keep them rolling, I just need to get a hold of Arlieth or Lolisauce to get the okay to name it Melty Bread Podcast or something.
-
Name it Melty Bread n' Butter or something less lame.
-
Melty Breadcast?
-
Name it Melty Bread n' Butter or something less lame.
Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening 2America
Air Footsies
Melty Crip
Melty Cast
The Last Arc
Arc Drive Radio
Blood Heat
Roa Radio
HOAAAAAA-Cast
Melty BloodCast (like broadcast, stretch dat pun)
______________
I think it's an awesome Idea; I think running live interviews with IRC or skype callers in for questions would be boss; but I'd like to have a downloadable version of it available after
-
i'd say no on basic mechanics. that shit is listed all over the internet and will be boring for 70% of the listeners
-
Mechanics aren't something I will be doing, I'll have someone else do that section (Ask that ZartheBiscuit anyone or anyone else willing to do it?). I really wanted to get more personal and in-depth with players and their characters, their play styles, and amongst other things.
Also I am looking for a co-host, I will assess probable candidates. Anyone interested please PM me here on MBread!
-
Most interesting will be interviews with players, of course.
Aside from that, the already mentioned channel integration regarding questions or topics from listeners.
Then, if you do a live podcast or make them accessible via stream from a website, it is basically nessecary that, if you refer to any source, you as well provide the link to it. A few web 2.0 players come with a time-based commentary system (like the one in YT) in which you then put the link.
If it comes to webspace (e.g. to host the downloadable pods) I am available. I have like 1GB free to waste. Even with good quality recording and proper length of each pod, it will take time to get that GB full.
Pro Melty Breadcast btw.
-
I feel like making a Questions&Answers podcast now ;-; before teruta leaves the country
-
I will endorse this on behalf of Meltybread as an official site podcast, as long as you can get a small, but strong cast of supporting cohosts like we talked about on chat.
Nominations go to Chibi for player interview cohost. Also we need someone very knowledgable on a lot of characters or the mechanics in general (like Zar, Tonberry, or maybe LK when he's not trolling?) for in depth character discussion cohost. Someone who keeps up well with multiple regions or travels a lot would be good for tournament person, or maybe Psylocke for jp tourney stuff? (can he even do skype? Is he even online with regularity?)
Anyway, MAKE IT HAPPEN.
-
And for weaboo inbetween artwork, I'm free.
-
bellreisa should be part of this too, if he's available. his commentary is the shit.
-
I'd listen in.
-
Hi, it seems to me that there are people I've never heard ask me to be a part of the show.
I need everyone who is interested (including those who've already pm'ed me, and people I already know) to send me a short voice clip of reading whatever you want, in the voice you would use for the podcast. I will then narrow people down by having a non broadcasted 1 on 1 interview via Skype.
-
Looks interesting a Melty Bread podcast.
-
melty breadcast da gawd?

Can I just call you?
Haha :toot:
-
Nope, unless you really have no alternative.
-
:( I just want to be joke guest.

get this guy then you get a potential 2-or-even-3-for-1 deal

So, for the moment, I've decided to have Chibi and Fox for my co-hosts, on a cycle, a nice way to mix things up. I was always have some sort of guest on the show. I plan for them to be semi-short podcasts, up to an hour at most, unless a lot of deep discussion is going on. I will only try to focus on one subject per week, it will be more organized, more content spread out over the weeks, etc. I plan for them to be once a week, or every other week, it's up to my schedule/co-host schedule, so expect 2-4 podcasts a month. I will make another thread once everything is organized for feedback/schedule.
-
I wouldn't mind appearing on something like this, if you would have me
-
I'd listen in obviously. Can't wait.

Sounds good. I look forward to listening in, and maybe some day down the line I can secure the hardware and time to join in as a guest spot.
Also, since one of your co-hosts, chibi, can front page post, you shouldn't have any problems just tossing it over to him when you're done with each one. Maybe once it becomes a regular thing, we can talk Tom into making a little side section on front page dedicated to the most recent breadcast and link in to archives or something.
-
Sounds good can't wait to tune in when I'm bored
-
Perfect thing to listen to in the car on my way to MB casuals!
Thirty to sixty minute episodes would be ideal.
-
I'm in the process of getting a mic (that doesn't suck).
I'll keep you updated.
-
Alright, thanks. Now I just need to know Fox's status.
-
Will there be a video podcast down the road? I really love what Gootecks and Mike Ross do with Cross Counter. Sp00ky did something like that with some match video between V. Sion and Warc some time ago; was really helpful and entertaining. Would to see a Melty equivalent.

Who knows really. At the moment I do not plan to do it, but if people want it, and I can get resources to do so, then sure.
-
Mizuki, would you be interested in having your podcasts on Iplaywinner if you do them? Anything to help get the fighting game community in the light? People gotta know more about you guys, and if you are going to do a podcast, I can ask Haunts to put you as a highlight whenever you get them done.

I'll get back to you on that in the future.
-
I'm good to go for a headset / mic.
-
I wish I wouldn't have been out of town for this discussion...
But sounds like a great idea mizu.
-
I just have some suggestions. Use good music for the intro. End it with music. Take breaks if necessary.
Since I've been given the okay to post the podcasts as they go up, I will be checking this thread frequently. I'll probably need to get my photoshop working again just to pimp it out though.
